I mostly agree with your thoughts on this episode. I found it really enjoyable, though by no means near my favourite. I really agree with your ending statement, that it left me wanting more; I wanted more Viveca, more David Lang, more Shirley Blane, they were all portrayed wonderfully, and an extra 20 minutes had done wonders for the episode
When Viveca mentions she dates younger men - why couldn’t we have gotten a few scenes of her doing that? Maybe even with the mustachioed ad executive from the beginning? It would have helped build her character much more.
@@EchoesOfColumbo Would've been great if she was on a date with a young man and Columbo showed up with questions. Lots of interesting characters with neglected potential.
Always felt too rushed and was left wanting more from the "gotcha" at the end. Nevertheless, this has always been a favorite of mine. I'm just too obsessed with Vera Miles in this episode to care enough about it's flaws. Another great video, EoC!

I agree the casting is a detraction... Vincent Price did more in about 1 minute in Thriller than he did in this episode, he's just "here" but it could have been one of the recurring regulars in the role. Maybe if they had got Anthony Perkins for the role it would have been more of a fun cameo. As for the episode it's a "circumstantial evidence" at best gotcha, one of those where had she not confessed a lawyer could have beaten it in court. Even with the eyebrow pencil on the magazine it wouldn't have been solid enough proof, while the poison ivy alone? She could have touched a stray plant growing out there by her health resort.
Forgotten Lady handled the star appearance better, with no overt Psycho references but her going temporarily insane was a stealth plot reference to Norman's own behavior.
