Glad it helped. It was a very long video to edit, but I know when I first started I would have loved a walk through like this. The great thing about the AudioControl software is its very user friendly.
That thing is so fkn hawt hope this becomes standard across all manufacturers. Amp + Signal Processing + Hi and Lo level ins and loads of outs. A solid base for most systems. So good.
Man I was thinking the same thing!! Honda's new premium DSP BS is terrible. This thing will clean it up very nicely! Love what Audio Control does, simply perfection
The more I see them, the more I am liking Audio Control amps with their built-in dsp. Sure, having multiple amps is nice to show off, but keeping it 'simple' with 1 piece is pretty awesome too. The flexibility it (Audio Control) offers is awesome.
Of course you do. 75% of his channel is just pimping audio control products. It's classic us marketing at its finest. Shove something down people's throats and they'll like it no matter whether they really do technically or don't.
Ok , you got me I'm sold & so is my old Amp ! Excellent video & so much great info !! Just sound proofing my 2020 Tundra to make the next level , & with this Amp too !!! Thanks
Finally a complete rundown on this amplifier. Could you do a video on building a 3-way front stage using this amp? I’ve noticed an increasing amount of people going fully active with their setups. Everything from driver selection to crossover points would be super helpful.
This totally opened my eyes and educated me on a DSP, I had an idea of it's capabilities but this video showed me that and much more. Thanks for your efforts in all your videos.
Greatest information I've been able to track down on the D-6 1200 AudioControl. I learned a great amount and it definitely clarified and answered all of my questions as well.
In my case is too late, got hooked up with “audiophile grade” , I love to get hands on, I like the way you explained how to set up the D S P , Great video!!
Hey Mark, great video. We are currently installing this unit into a Cadillac CTS-V. Your video proved to be a great head start for us getting started. Thank you 🙏
Because of your review I Just had this installed in my Acura ILX. What a game changer, hooked into factory system and speakers. Thanks for your review and instructions. I am going to remove factory sub and add a new sub soon.
I've had this amp, installed in my truck, for a couple of months. Originally, I had the LC version of the amp, but returned it to purchase this amp...due to the advanced DSP options. It really is a great marriage of hardware and software. Mark - please shoot a video on the AC-BT24. I'm curious about direct music streaming and how volume would be controlled if bypassing the head unit.
I use my iPhone to directly stream into the DM-810 if you have the volume on your phone up at switchover it blast your speakers to holy-hell. The sound quality over this WELL WORTH IT. Audiocontrol please adjust you’re volume to gradually increase instead of killing my speakers.
Absolutely great job! I understood every single feature you discussed...so you must have done a great job. I think it helps that I used to use spectrum analyzers for RF in the Navy. Thanks for the great video!
Love this amp. I’ve been running it for a couple of months now paired with a KENWOOD DNX995S in My Yukon Denali. I have an Audison bit 10, Apline PDX 4.100 and iPad in my other car and it’s great. But the simplicity of having an all is awesome.
Good well explained video! I had a dqdx from audio and man they really do their job and bring out the sounds. Sisters stock car is next on the list for sound system upgrade love your channel!
Mark, these are very well done videos, so thank you for taking the time to produce such informative & valuable content. My son & I are building a 1951 Chevrolet Truck as a Father/Son project. This is an heirloom car, so hopefully he will keep it for decades if not forever. Since there is no factory audio system in play, his thoughts are to use a BT receiver connected to his smart phone using his playlist, then route through an EQ to correct the source going into the amp(s) and finally route to the speakers. Would the D-6.1200 be the best product for a 5 or 6 channel system? Or is it overkill for a BT connection to a cell phone? It's a single cab truck where the front 3.5" speakers are mounted in the dash or installing 6/6.5" in the front kick panels, rear speakers would be placed in the rear cab corners, and the sub(s) mounted behind the seat. The amps would be installed under or behind the seat. Thanks for any advice you can provide to us.
Wonder if this guy is still around, this is a very informative video. I’m thinking of purchasing the D5.1300 model to add a subwoofer and amplify and correct the factory mid-bass and front speakers in the Harmon Kardon system in my BMW. Not sure if I’m up to the task though.
Literally picked up this audio control amp because of your videos. Awesome quality! Question though: how can I tell if my output is clipping? Is the MILC/clip just to detect input clip or does it indicate output clipping too?
2 things this amp needed, and extra set of outputs to be used for rear fill or for more powerful amp for front mid-bass and you still have the other see of outputs for the subs. And the last option would be the ability to run two of these together and when connected one amp runs all left side and the other runs all right side.
I mean, where does it end though? Then it would be: well why not have 6 outputs so you can run an active set of 2 way components in back plus subs? I get what you're saying, and it would be nice... but I think at the point that you need the extra channels you are getting into a larger build that is likely going to be a dedicated DSP like the DM-810 and several amps.
@@CarAudioFabrication yeah you are right. Then a 8 channel with 1 set of outputs would be the whole system amp like the jl audio vxi amp. I say that because it seems AC is trying to bring a all in one solution.
I wish they had the option to add an RTA mic and again hit the auto-flat to readjust to actual acoustic data. Or maybe... even time align it that way too
You did a great review of this amp, but you forgot a very important capability: It's a full 8x8 audio matrix. This means you could have multiple inputs beyond the BT adapter. I chose the D-6.1200 and it's baby brother D-4.800 to run an IASCA/IQC system in my F150 (which I happen to be smack in the middle of). In order to retain the highest possible source quality from my iPhone, I'm running an Airport Express (12v mod + fan) for lossless Airplay via wifi, running mini-toslink to toslink into a Cambridge Audio MagicDAC 100. Then, I have a 1ft custom RCA into inputs 5-6. I'm using high-level inputs 1-4 for my OEM stereo and the BT adapter uses 7-8. Lastly, you can simply program the preset memories to use whichever inputs you want. I'll personally have Preset 1 as All Seats Airplay, Preset 2 as Driver Seat Airplay, Preset 3 as All Seats OEM, and Preset 4 as All Seats BT. Keep up the great videos!
I have Jeep Wrangler JKU, I am slowly upgrading the audio, Stock Head Unit, upgraded to JL Audio speakers and used a Chrysler PAC convert to have RCA outputs to a temporary amp that would drive the speaker upgrade. Im looking at the D6.1200, my question is the does the PAC to RCA to Amp, is this ok to use in this configuration or should I look to use speaker level input for the D6
I'm still pretty new to car audio. I've watched tons of your videos and I've learned so much! When I have any questions, I dig a little deeper and I can usually find the answers I'm looking for. However, I'm stumped on this one. In the video, you suggest running the six channels to a set of 3-way component speakers, but, at 4 ohms, that would put 125 watts to a single tiny tweeter. How can the speaker survive that much power? The tweeters I've researched don't come close to that kind of power rating.
I'm late to the game here, but I just bought a 2012 Lexus IS250 and I've been researching how to adapt to the factory navigation/audio system and found this. Damn...Audio Control has me thinking about selling my JL Audio HD750/1 and HD600/4 amps and replacing them with this one amp. It's either that or using the Audio Control DM-810 DSP and keeping my HD amps. I really like the space saving and flexibility of this amp and I wouldn't sacrifice much on power either. Hmmm...things to think about. Damn you Mark!
Hey Mark, I did another quick search on the Audio Control website and still don't see the AC-BT24 available/listed. Any chance you have the inside scoop on when it will be available?
You just GOTTA show how to install this with a second amp. Putting subs on their own amp is common so I would like to see how the DSP would handle such a setup with a 6 speaker setup commonly found in SUV’s.
I discussed this in the video, you would connect the six speakers to the speaker outputs of the amplifier, and then you would send the signal from the RCA outputs on this amp to a separate subwoofer amplifier. You could even use this amp to tell the other amp to "turn on" with the remote out, and you can completely tune the subwoofer RCA output. So 8 full channels of DSP control.
You want me to show you and rca wire plugged in from one amp to another? Check out my other recent video where I did a D-4.800 and the LC-1.1500 together. That has the full install into a vehicle
CarAudioFabrication what if I wanted to run 2 sub woofer amps, a lc800.1 and a lc1500.1, since there is only 1 set of outputs, would I just need a rca distribution or even rca splitter to have 2 sets of rcas?
I just wonder why AudioControl didn't include Toslink digital input on this amplifier??? They offer toslink input on their standalone DSP. I like the specifications on this amp but the JL Audio VX600/6i does have digital input and really simplifies my installation.
Hey, Mark. I was wondering if you could answer this quick question for me. I'm upgrading my girlfriend's car audio and was wondering if this would work to power the front component speakers, the rear coaxial speakers and an 8" sub in the rear. Can I use this one piece or are there other components I need. Minus wiring of course. Thanks for your help. Videos are great!
It would. But unless she's a complete audiophile and wants to tweak every speaker on the computer you won't need these. Just go with a Punch five channel amp. (P1000x5) It has four channels for each speaker and a fifth channel for a subwoofer.
Can you do a video about the center channel in car audio? I’m curious if it’s actually needed or not for larger vehicles, like a RAM 1500 or a Chevy Silverado
Mark, do you recommend using the RCA inputs when using an aftermarket head unit over the speaker inputs? Do you have a video on how the settings should be set on the stock or aftermarket head units when using a DSP?
Mark could you make a tutorial video on setup and tuning the DSP on the D6 1200. I watched many videos that you made as well as others but no one goes through to explain the steps and the reasons for the order of steps to take. I have a 2016 F150 factory head unit infinity split fronts and rear with rockford 12. put this amp in and I keep trying to tune my system. It just doesn't sound as good as it should. Would be nice to have a tutorial.
Great video! Questions. How does this impact 2-way & 3-way component speaker setups with passive crossovers? Are passive crossover setups even compatible? that is, does it make financial sense to invest in one of these and maintain a passive setup?
@CarAudioFabrication I purchased this exact unit. Would I still need my audio control LOC I currently have installed in my vehicle now that I have this Amp/Dsp? Would it make a difference to keep it installed vs not if not needed? As far quality goes?
Hi - Great video!! thanks! With your high level input wires, the green /purple ones which have a factory look, where do you get these, or do you make them off rolls? Got any specs?
Hey Mark, great video I had a simple installation question. When installing the DSP is the recommendation to splice into the factory speaker wires or just cut them off completely to run to the DSP? I’d be running all new speaker wires for new speakers so the factory wires wouldn’t be in use, but splicing in line would make it easier to remove my aftermarket equipment if I sold my vehicle. Thanks.
Hey mark! Quick question... When using the d-6. 1200, am I able to control any other aftermarket amplifier, or strictly audio control. Love the content! Thanks In advance,
Great video!! Especially for the usage of the computer and tuning!! Without the Bluetooth attachment, how many total audio devices will I be able to use. I have an iPad in the rca input (using adapters to get to the amp) I’ll have 4 rca inputs available. Would I be able to use the remaining rcas for other devices? Please forgive me if this is a noob question. I’m trying to get the most out of this.
Hi, amazing video! but I got a question, can I use this amplifier with my system, it only has 4 full-range channels, not front-high and front mid-range, just front full range.... because I see that this amplifier has inputs for high channels, and mid-range-channels, in the front speakers.
You absolutely can adjust level independently. Watch the section where I show how eq can be controlled seperately on left and right. The slider changes to two sliders
@@CarAudioFabrication Aah got it! Missed that at 19:22 where the level changed from both to odd and even. I just caught where the EQ could be adjusted independently. I was thinking OK I can drag the entire EQ down for that channel but that's a lot of adjustments to make an across-the-board change to the level.
How do you get a chime signal separate from the rest of the output to go in to "high" in a GM? Isn't the chime generally in the front left output from the radio? Also if you have a factory amplified crossed over as you described in your example, how do you incorporate rear as well? Meaning crossed over front components, rear coaxial, and subwoofer.
Great video! I have a 2018 F150. Going to keep the factory stereo. My truck has a center dash speaker in addition to the other 6 channels. Wondering how to wire in the center dash speaker into this without causing issues.
@@MrMaxyield How do I wire a distro block with multiple batts? With 100% success rate, only way to go. River Alley Sounds like needs an alternator upgrade first but whatever, I'm not going to speculate until clearly defined goals are given.. think why are you doing this and relay as much info as possible.
@@andrewjohn6853 Always alternator before batteries... Ppl don't understand that extra batteries = extra load on alternator... Gotta have power to make power...!!!
I wonder why no phase adjustment (180 isn't enough). I guess delay will help getting output phase correct but it's nice to have independent control. Lastly, how do we preserve any surround sound DSP from stock system and still tune for best sound. I'm not sure what my factory DSP does (delay, frequency changes??)
Hey would I be able to replace the factory amplifier and use the signal wires from the radio to connect to the audiocontrol amplifier?2007 Lincoln mkz premium sound system.
How is it in terms of sound quality? Can it be compared to something I know, like HELIX P SIX DSP MK2? Is there only 12dB/oct and 24dB/oct? And the others? What about time correction? Which connection method can be used with android multimedia? It is important that the sound is not processed from android. How to connect then? By bluetooth? No optics? With optics it's like a clean signal as far as I know. I don't understand English very well, so please forgive any inaccuracies. Thank you
this looks like an amazing, no-brainer amp if budget allows... but I wonder, isn't 125W RMS per channel too much for what front speakers and tweeters can handle? what are your thoughts Mark on this?
Is there a way you can have a saved preset where it controls rear speakers that is amplified from a second amp? I would want rear fill for when I’m not showing and competing, but as you say when I have passengers I want to have a full ambiance; not necessarily a sound stage
Mark! Could you explain the process and devices available to retrieve a digital signal from OEM head units so we don't have to go through unnecessary DA / AD / DA conversion??? Also... you rule!! (I should be more specific and mention that I have a late model BMW).
This thing looks sweet. But I'm wondering how I would tune it using an aftermarket radio. It seemed you were using it to "correct" the factory eq to a flat response, but what about using low level inputs from an aftermarket head unit? Would I need a separate RTA to tune my system properly?
The RTA in screen is showing the ELECTRICAL response. You tune that to get a starting baseline. Obviously for an aftermarket radio the starting point is already flat. You then tune from there the ACOUSTIC response with a seperate RTA microphone. AudioControl is soon releasing a new product called the DM-RTA. I'll eventually have a video here on the channel
My car has 4 stock speakers in each door. I want to cancel the OEM speakers and put 1 woofer 1 mid range and 1 tweeter in each door, so there will be a total of 12 speakers. Will this DSP be enough to run the 12 speakers? If so, how to conncet the 12 speaker into the 6 channels? If not, what should I do to make it work? Also, can I connect another regular amplifier to run tweeters and mids, and transfer all data from the DSP directly to the other amplifier? I know its a lot of questions, but your detailed answer will help a lot. Thanks.
I'm in Nairobi. I look forward to installing car audio with amplifier and digital processors and also a subwoofer with its amplifier. Me I can source them from there we use 250v~ sockets 50hz. Can I?
Mark seeing that you seem to have a lot of contact with Audio Control. What about asking them if they would ever look into doing a 12 or 16 channel version of the DM series DSP?
@@CarAudioFabrication My issue with that is, that it will quickly seem like a lot for most people, if you have to have 16 inputs and 20 outputs to get 12 channels. I see more and more people whom would like the nice three way system in the front and a two way in the rear + sub and maybe even a pair of coax units in the rear. I currently use a pair of XTA DP448 dsp's out of the pro audio world run off inverters in my own car, but that's overkill and too complicated for most - it's actually a non-option,as it is only for someone odd like me who really likes and know that stuff. I simply like them due to my background in pro audio and I can get slightly used units "cheap". But regarding normal car audio guys, one can always recommend a 16 channel Zapco or Brax. But for many, those become way too expensive, and they lack some of the features that makes it easy for the average diy'er to properly integrate the dsp with the factory system. While I think there are better sounding units in the high end of car audio than the DM units, there's no denying that they sound great and are more than sufficient for most. And the features they have to easily implement them with the OE systems in modern cars is currently the best there is by far. This is also why I think there would be a narket for a DM6-12 and 8-16. I might be wrong but still. My background is I don't do car audio cor a living. I take on 3-5 projects besides my own stuff, each year if I find it interesting and have the time. I've been doing this on and off since 1997 when I did work in car audio for a while, so that's why I occassionally find myself having to do reccomendations of equipment, put things together, make suggestions and all that. Thank you for the great videos. I really like your work and attitude towards car audio - you talk a lot of sense. Keep it up, you're helping a lot of people and it's great for the community.
Would it be better to run a component set with a crossover or just get a full range door speaker and at tweeter back to this amp and use the tuning in the software.
Hi Mark, I have component fronts, can i still run the front high outputs from the amp directly into the tweeters or am i better off with a 4 channel going into the crossovers? Thanks!
Looks like the AudioControl line of DSP software doesn't have an actual rear fill setting/filter, i.e. stripping the center/mono/common signal to leave hard left/right for ch 5/6. What DSP lines do have that functionality?

You could even use this amp to tell the other amp to "turn on" with the remote out, and you can completely tune the subwoofer RCA output. So 8 full channels of DSP control.
Yeah but it would be cool to “SEE” it. For those visual learners.
You want me to show you and rca wire plugged in from one amp to another? Check out my other recent video where I did a D-4.800 and the LC-1.1500 together. That has the full install into a vehicle
CarAudioFabrication Wait, so the only way to add an additional amp is via RCA? Because I was thinking using 7-8 as a connection.
A good way to gain more room in your car.
Current system 3 way components, 3 amps and a DM810.
Awesome in depth review
Daaamn, I know which amp will be my replacement for Alpine V9.
I have an iPad in the rca input (using adapters to get to the amp)
I’ll have 4 rca inputs available.
All that but we can't adjust the level of channel 1 separate from channel 2? Time alignment is great but only half the battle for a true center image.
I was thinking OK I can drag the entire EQ down for that channel but that's a lot of adjustments to make an across-the-board change to the level.
my question on DSP is dose an optical input replace all channel high end inputs ?
Damn, sold.
I’m gonna blame Mark for my soon to be debt 😅
How do you get a chime signal separate from the rest of the output to go in to "high" in a GM? Isn't the chime generally in the front left output from the radio?
Also if you have a factory amplified crossed over as you described in your example, how do you incorporate rear as well? Meaning crossed over front components, rear coaxial, and subwoofer.
I am curious about the chime as well.
Great video! I have a 2018 F150. Going to keep the factory stereo. My truck has a center dash speaker in addition to the other 6 channels. Wondering how to wire in the center dash speaker into this without causing issues.
Most people recommend disconnecting the center dash speaker.
@@nickrobinson6434 thank you. I may do that.
Would you make a video on how to wire multiple batteries and go a little more on how to use or how to wire distbution blocks?
Seriously? What are you not sure about?
U must be joking...
His videos are the most detailed...!!!
@@andrewjohn6853
Always alternator before batteries...
Ppl don't understand that extra batteries = extra load on alternator...
Gotta have power to make power...!!!
@@MrMaxyield You're switched on.
I really like this amp but is there a model coming out that has more output for serious bass enthusiast ❤️🆒🇺🇸😀
This is a solid piece, is it possible to run 1&2 as Twitters 3&4 as fronts, 5&6 as rear and line out for the sub (amp).
Shouldn't the GTO signal sense be switched off when you jumpered the remote turn on to power?
what is the difference between using speaker level inputs and low level (rca) inputs?
Thank you so much for the information I just save a lot of money by getting this amplifier I no longer need a dsp ???
Awesome video!!
Hi Mark, I want use chanel 5 and 6 for subwoofer and RCA line output can i add another amplifier for subwoofer?
Hi Mark, using my current amps, what would be a good SQ stand alone DSP?
Nice review btw 👍
Check out the AudioControl DM-608 or 810
So is this like, everything I would basically need?
What if I have 2-way components in the front, 2-way in the back, and a sub with a separate amp. how would the wiring work?
Great Vid as always..thxs
Can I?
you are a god, sir.
Mark seeing that you seem to have a lot of contact with Audio Control. What about asking them if they would ever look into doing a 12 or 16 channel version of the DM series DSP?
Just use two DM810s.
@@CarAudioFabrication
My issue with that is, that it will quickly seem like a lot for most people, if you have to have 16 inputs and 20 outputs to get 12 channels.
What are the requirements of a laptop for initial setup? Will any laptop work? Do I need to upgrade my laptop as well?
You can have a pretty basic laptop and it runs just fine.
Would it be better to run a component set with a crossover or just get a full range door speaker and at tweeter back to this amp and use the tuning in the software.
You can run a component set with crossover, or run active. You can do both. Just depends on your system design.
What’s different between tow amps
LC 6 1200
D 6 1200
?
LC does NOT have DSP built in
D does have DSP built in
Hi Mark,
I have component fronts, can i still run the front high outputs from the amp directly into the tweeters or am i better off with a 4 channel going into the crossovers? Thanks!
Do you still need an epicenter if you use the output to control a lc 1.800 amp? If so, how do I set to full range
Looks like the AudioControl line of DSP software doesn't have an actual rear fill setting/filter, i.e. stripping the center/mono/common signal to leave hard left/right for ch 5/6. What DSP lines do have that functionality?
