I use 10 pound braid with a 6 pound Flora carbon leader it works great for me with them small lures!! It’s so fun to hit the creeks

Creek fishing is my favorite. I fish a really swampy creek with lots of flooded areas and use a 5'6 ultralight with a 1000 reel and 10lb braid. It's easy to manage in that swampy environment and I've caught everything from bass to my PB crappie and a 5lb bowfin on it mostly using shallow crank baits yet it's still fun just catching bluegill on it. My other set up is a 6ft medium-heavy rod with a 3000 reel and braid. It's great for working top waters like frogs through the grassy stuff or buzz baits and its got the backbone to set hooks hard on things like gar and bowfin and can just as easily be rigged for catfish.

I had a baby catfish hit a roostertail. I love creek fishing. i have caught, catfish, chained pickeral, crappie, and bass. I carry a little dock demon rod and reel in my 4 wheeler. Sit in the creek and fish off my ride.

Just caught about 15 bass on a rooster tail yesterday. One of the go-tos.
It’s IMO that a ML rod does the best if you’re ONLY targeting Bass when creek fishing and have the potential to catch 12-18” fish with any regularity. The extra hooksetting power is great for senkos/Ned rigs and it doesn’t give up a lot of the fun in the fight. 👍🏻
But the UL is my favorite to fish with those Bass felt like beasts yesterday hahah
