Loved seeing Eugene! A lot of my family lives there and I have taken that very same flight (Eugene to Oakland) a bunch of times. Really enjoy coming along on your travels; thanks for posting.
Had to chuckle Ern, when I started in early '80s flying sideways on 727 Northwest O. had a WX system thru our MET department where we would physically chart Turbulence Plot on custom charts ("TP PLOTS") and we would be routed around chop. It got so when we'd request a deviation other flights from other airlines, knowing we had system would follow us around the chop but they did not have the plots since only NWO had the custom charts. We were a 'smooth' operation back then and was awesome avoiding mountain wave and clear air chop. When NWA was aquired by DAL one of the components was NWA's MET section was a specific part of the items aquired because of it's tribal knowledge on getting a smooth ride. See you around DVT
I landed at Eugene, Oregon a decade ago on the way to visit a friend... all I remember - aside from the friend experience - are the TREES... as in, all but "in your car with you". always enjoy your videos, captain
Love your videos! Does SWA keep you in the western half of the U.S. because you’re based in Phoenix? I haven’t watched any videos of yours where you have flown east of Dallas. Is that by design so you can keep a normal off time schedule?
Are you still using paper flight plans? Paper ATIS? That's a lot of paper getting used every day throughout the network. We have it all on ipad, even Electronic LID, and currently in trial is Electronic techlog. This will help since maintenance/operation can read it and plan ahead, same for the next crew taking over the flight. This reduces delays and AOGs. We're almost fully paperless. I'd imagine SW would modernize some of their operations/system.
Hi Ern. I'm a young student pilot about to finish my PPL, and planning to go to college for aviation. Enjoy watching your videos. I believe with enough hard work I can make my dream of becoming an airline pilot a reality. Sometimes it's hard and worrying seeing people be so negative about the aviation industry, for example, people talking about how there's a slow down in hiring FO's at the regionals and some of the delivery issues at Boeing. I am just getting started, but can't wait to see what opportunities are ahead. With all that being said, in your opinion, do you think it's still a great time to become a pilot? I'm asking because I remember my uncle talking about how it was pretty hard back in the day, because the airlines were saturated with ex-military pilots.
I just flew with Southwest to and from Las Vegas - Indianapolis on MAX 8 aircraft. To me as a passenger the aircraft seemed louder but smoother than the 700/800 series. The engines made more noise I feel. Any thoughts on this? How do pilots feel about the MAX compared to previous generation aircraft? The landings also feel harder rougher and louder on the MAX to me. Thanks, love seeing your perspective as I used to be an A&P mechanic.
It looks like Southwest's 737-MAXs are all othe west coast and Hawaii routes. I fly Southwest from MDW to the east and south a lot, and I often fly on an old 737-700😂
I love Thai food. Lived on it for a very long time. I chose to raise my children in Thailand, so I know authentic Thai food choices. Currently preparing for the part 107 and from there I am choosing to go for a private pilot’s certificate with an IFR rating. Thank you and others whom I follow for the positive aviation posts. They fire me up! Amen.
Can you please have a flight to HNL and come fly with me I am a student pilot and it would be an honor to fly with you. Thanks for the inspiration to keep going.
you know its a good day when BigErn post
Best pilot content on UA-cam. Keep up the good work Big Ern.
Waze for aviation. Really cool!

WAKE UP YALL ERNIE UPLOADED
Nice Tool 👍 Thanks for showing!
Hello Captain. Always great to see one of your videos.
Looks like Em is a foodie! Liking the time-lapse...
Didn't know Southwest flew to Eugene, thought the city was Alaska/Horzion territory.
All of the big 3 fly into EUG. United I believe went all mainline from
Express this year.
I've never been to Oregon, but would LOVE to go someday!
There is so much here in the PNW to see. Flying thru the Columbia Gorge is amazing! Volcanos to fly around. Coast, mountains, desert! All here!
Just got to AZ and doing my pilot training with my friend down in Chandler, I’m so excited for my ppl

That’s awesome! The 72 is a beast!

Glad to hear you enjoyed the PNW. Hope you get a chance to fly up to KBLI before the company pulls out of our airport up here in Bellingham WA.
Just listened to your Pilot to Pilot podcast interview, you have a very interesting story! Welcome to my home state!

That app will come in handy for Denver flights lol

Hello Captain!
Will you make a flight video with Mikita Radzivon sometime?
ever use Navigraph BigErn?

Love us some Thai food, always nice to have one's wife come to work and drive us home🥰
Grew up at EUG! Great place! #PNW
Go Ducks! 💚💛🇹🇭 I've been to EUG plenty as a student and CFI but never inside the terminal 😂
Turbulence? Well, I am that evil SWA passenger who likes to sing "Shake, Rattle, and Roll." It's just one song on my turbulence playlist.
That App or program is actually very cool. Is it available for just the everyday pilot? Could I get it on my iPad right now?
1:33 passenger cabin lighting looks kind of freaky because you sped up the video lol

In 18 days I will be getting on a southwest airplane to go my grandmas in Arkansas
Nice , not fond of turbulence , but I love to fly ❤

Olá capitão like parabéns brazil
Big Ern you should wear earplugs on the ramp you don’t want to end up deaf at the end of your career a humble advice from a ramp guy.
👏
Very nice place!
I'm like #198 which one are you????
