A good mechanic never has time to work on his own stuff. No worries sir we understand you are a great mechanic and a hard working man and your wife helps you what a team.
Dear tonypaul... 👍👌👏 You're absolutely right, Sir (with both). I've seen a lot of really bad maintained cars owned by car mechanics in the past. But I think it has changed nowadays because often they see and show their cars as a reference. 2) Misses Smith is simply a gem and has a lot of patience. Best regards, luck and health in particular.
Truer words were never spoken! I’ve often said that if Ford had been smart enough to grab the Cummins, neither Dodge or Chevrolet would still be building heavy pickup trucks.
Older fords could come with cummins in heavy spec trucks . I have a 98 f800 with a 5.9 cummins . I know ford used cummins into the 2000s in trucks like f650s In 90s f600 and larger had cummins
I always enjoy your narrative reasoning when doing routine maintenance or when you are rebuilding equipment. You always give practical knowledge from your vast experience for regular vehicles and big equipment. Thanks for keeping it honest and entertaining!
Watching you struggle with that plug kit makes me feel better when I have to as well. I was thinking I was the only one. Also, with the brakes the way they were/are, I would have done the same repairs. Glad to know my work is, at least this time, as good as yours. You do such good work, I try to make mine like yours for a "standard" Keep up the great work.
IF, you want a neat little welding project that will kill 2 birds, check out a MOVE build your own bumper. I have built a few over the years and love the concept AND quality AND options. It would be a perfect fit for your channel too!!!
Don't be so hard on yourself JC, there's only but so many hours in a week and you are a busy man. I know that deal all too well myself working an average of 72 hrs a week minimum with one day off most weekends this year. My two trucks, a Toyota Tundra, and a Ford F250, are also tough to keep up with. It's no wonder Dodge trucks have a crappy reputation. If they can't do simple things like make a grille right, the other stuff is definitely FUBAR. I used to own a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, what a piece of crap! They would rust if you sneezed too hard next to them, the transmissions would break as soon you put it in drive, and they loved to burn crankshaft position sensors. That was the first and last Dodge truck I will ever own.
I've seen oil coolers go and spray coolant into the oil drain back to the block and steam out #5 rod as well. Not a bad platform but they do have problems. The chassis like tipm and the abs module.
I am pulling the rad on my IH COE CargoStar. The rad has integrated trans cooler, and the ATF dripping out of the lines is a little milky. I will drain the Alison to examine the ATF there. Should I be looking at separating the rad and trans cooler completely? It is so difficult to access the radiator on a COE, I would like the trans cooler to be more accessible/serviceable.
IDK J.C. after seeing that last rotate I think you would be recommending a few replacement parts or equal both side maintenance for customers. Owner operator trucks sometimes lack some love.
if it was used everyday or at least every week, then yes. but for what this truck does....i just cant see it when this could happen again from sitting.
Every straight axle dodge dually I’ve owned (at least 10) has wore the front right tire funny. I’ve talked to alignment guys and they say the same thing. There’s different specs you can set them to that can slow it slightly, but aside from rotating tires every week there’s not a lot you can do about it Also I have a stack of Dodge bumpers. Some have damage but I’m sure I have a clean one off an early 4th gen. Or if you wanted an upgrade I’m pretty sure I have a couple clean ones off higher package pickups (gain fog lights). $50 a whack on any with damage $100 for a clean one
If you keep that truck for yourself there's common problem with the grid heater. Banks has a good fix for it but it's pricey and it's works well as does all the Banks stuff. C&S Diesel has a less expensive fix for the grid heater. There's a bolt on the heater that will corrode from heat and the nut will get in #6 cylinder and do a lot of damage. If you're unaware you may want to look into it for your sake. Many have had to replace the engine. videos on UA-cam
can you tell me where to buy the locks for thebed boxes i have a 1966 holmes 500 wrecker has similar lock haven't been able to find mine work no keys and some of the locks missing they have the thru bolts to hold them on like one of those you showed on video
Zips. New Hampton, Iowa Been a Holmes dealer since it was still owned by a Holmes. They sell that type of box as well. I-80 truck stop at Walcott,Iowa, (world's largest truck stop). They sell those boxes and parts.

And this very true

@ I know. But, that’s not the trucks we’re speaking of.

JC Thanks for showing the break job on your truck. Stay safe and keep rubber down.
Have a great evening JC and Mrs Smith
We've all been guilty of putting off maintenance for a bit too long. Glad to see you could get the truck freshened up and ready for the trip 😎👍

Nice job on brakes, just what was necessary. and a 👍
Sounds like some exciting videos to come.
Great video!!!!
Oh a JC Smith on the hunt episode. That will be fun.
Your comment at the 2 minute mark is SPOT on!
Hope you're trip goes well hope vring vack some cool stuff
Hi JC thank you for sharing 🤗
Have done the same to brake calipers in NE PA.
With a bumper that shiny, I'm sure I'd have seen a drip while down there 😂
Good stuff have you looked into the grid heater bolt failure on the 6.7
I agree. Everyone who has the 6.7 needs to take care of the heater bolt before it gets sucked into cylinder 6….

I love my 488 cubic inch V 10 I have in my 1995 3500 it pushes a mountain of snow with the 9 foot Meyer snow plow

Im convinced that the less you drive a truck the more issues you will have.
definitely
Wd40 on the rubbers for the lights in and out youl thank me later! Ease of install next level achieved!!

My daily is in similar disrepair but my projects are minty 😂
I think that the tab goes down (think) half a dozen one way or the others??

I just did brakes on our 2020 ram 2500 at 115k and they still had life left on them
👍🏴👍
Are you headed to the deep South for this trip??
no. northwest indiana fabrication first. then to pick up something to make progress on an existing project. last is a surprise.
You are keeping us in suspense as to what you are being back…….🤨
That is normal for us Dodge owners. The Truck is 50 percent plastic.
