Epilogue idea: "Humanity celebrated Kiryu's success as a triumph for humanity's survival and its technological prowess. But the celebration was short-lived. The crystals had awakened his old Godzilla instincts to the point of completely overpowering his directive, and he went rogue. Eventually, GDF was able to track him down, but what they saw rocked them to their core. A sort of "Ghost Godzilla" erupted from his armor like a cocoon. This Godzilla was stronger and more unstable than the original. It took an alliance between GDF and the Earth Defenders to finally put him to rest."
Although Kiryu was victorious over SpaceGodzilla and the Vortakk, the remainder of the GDF mecha’s were not so lucky. Many of them fell into disarray and were forced to be shut down, but the GDF quickly salvaged the remaining mecha’s and dismantled them. After seeing the success of Kiryu and now holding two crystal surges, the GDF went to work on creating new Mecha’s modeled after Kiryu with the remaining parts of the other Mecha’s. With the best Kaiju template available and with the aid of crystal surges, the GDF now has an army of Kiryu mecha’s each modeled for different fighting patterns against other Kaiju. On my last Kiryu campaign I somehow ended up with a high relationship with both the Vortak and the GDF, guess they put their difference aside and decided to team up against SpaceGodzilla
Kiryu was a rush job, but that rush job turned out to be the very thing that saved the world. As both SpaceGodzilla and the Vortaak descended on Earth, the GDF's mechas were no match for the threats, added on top of the already worrying threat of rogue Earth monsters. They decided they needed a new weapon-and fast. Using data they had collected from building Mechagodzilla 2, they constructed a new model of mech. It was more flexible and durable, loaded with weapons, and it had the skeleton of Earth's mightiest monster at its core-Gojira. Kiryu was born, and its results exceeded humanity's wildest hopes and dreams. Kiryu dispatched opposing monsters with ease, freezing them with its Absolute Zero cannon and leaving its fellow mechas to clean up the mess. Its drill hand and laser blade were unrivaled in crystal-destroying, and soon enough humanity began to push back against the crystals and the Vortaak. By the time the invaders realized they had messed with the wrong planet, it was too late. Kiryu had won against all odds, carrying the fate of the world on its metal shoulders and delivering a bright future for all of humanity. The ghost of Gojira could finally sleep peacefully, as it had completed its task as a kaiju-defend the Earth, and that was something both man, computer, and monster could agree to do. 3:03 Godzilla: me Kiryu: Archer-Bro laughing at my pathetic attempts to make a story that rivals theirs
@@Dr._GroovyDude I truly do not understand why a modern Kaiju game like this but with more monsters hasn't been made. Maybe they're waiting for the Reiwa Era to conclude.
46:09 Godzilla: "Hey guys I'm here!" Anguirus: "You're late, the fight is already over thanks to Kiryu." Godzilla: "Damn you Kiryu! It should be me to be the hero!"
Kiryu is often referred to as Mechagodzilla 3, hence his debut in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, succeeded by a follow-up appearance in Godzilla Tokyo SOS. I believe Kiryu is translated as "energy dragon". Equipped with lasers, missiles and freeze cannon in his chest, he can take on Godzilla on close-but-not-quite equal terms. It's explained that in addition to all the metal and all the military hardware, this third take on the Mechagodzilla archetype incorporated the bones of the original Godzilla into its body, so it was like the Millennium Godzilla was fighting the Showa Godzilla clad in armor! Unfortunately, this proved to be a flaw, as a genetic memory within those bones awakened Godzilla instincts inside Kiryu causing him to go on a rampage. In the sequel film, Mothra actually attacks Kiryu because of Godzilla's bones being taken from their resting place, some kind of blasphemy in her eyes. Interestingly, this game is the only one that Pipeworks uses the Kiryu name, whereas in Destroy All Monsters Melee and Save the Earth, they go with MG III.
Kiryu:I am kiryu and my duty is to protect humanity and the rest of the planet from all threats be they from earth or not. As the EDFs flagship Mecha/cyborg it is a honor to serve as one of humanity’s greatest protectors besides Godzilla. Now my services is needed once again and I will not fall for i am the champion of the EDF!!!
From Earth Defenders, Godzilla 1954 - as cheap as it can be, it's incredibly satisfying slapping people with his overhead tail attack! That, and I really like the semi-black-and-white theme he has going. My favorite fighter in the game. For GDF, probably Mechagodzilla 2. While I feel the original MG is a better fighter, I enjoy using MG2's Plasma Grenade, as weak as it is. For Aliens, definitely Orga. Love his heavy-hitting fighting style, he's incredibly strong, and has that Paralyzing Goo attack that can lead to some great follow-ups. One of the easiest fighters to pick up and play, imo. For Mutants, I suppose Biollante. She has plenty of versatility, since she can use her vines and her head/mouth at the same time, though obviously her huge size can be a problem. But she's still really fun to play, especially when you can hit foes halfway across the map with her crazy vines!
Mutants - SpaceGodzilla/He has great power using his telekinesis and he is fast with his levitation Aliens - I would have to pick King Ghidorah/Narrowly beating Orga it’s bec he has three electric beams and can fly to avoid major blows. Earth defenders - Godzilla 2000/He always proves effective with his atomic breath and his power attacks. Global defense force - MechaGodzilla 2/All of his weapons make him a tough fighter when u play as him
Funny enough as Kiryu if you use the Absolute zero cannon on corrupted monsters you can "free" them from the crystal. If they are allies they turn netural... if you can aim the damn thing that is
Out of all the characters you can pick Kiryu is my all time absolute personal favourite and Kiryu is my absolute personal favourite version of Mechagodzilla.
Imagine if they made Kiryu look exactly like he did in Godzilla against Mechagodzilla with his Type 0 Rail Blaster and his Back Unit now that would’ve been really really cool and amazing to see.
So the basic gist is (Playing as Earth Defenders or GDF) You don’t get the boon of power surges BUT you only have to smash the crystals to win some of the encounters. (Mutants) Kill everything that stands between you and the power of the crystals. (Alien) Fight a battle on two fronts, stealing the power of the crystals and also eliminating the Earth’s guardians.
Main Objective: Defeat the controlled Moguera or destroy the power surge crystals. Optional Objective: Defeat King Ghidorah. Optional Objective: Defeat Krystalak.
If the developers make a sequel to this game, i hope they will do a different antagonist that Spacegodzilla. I know that they probably use spacegodzilla a lot as the main villain of the games since he was one of Godzilla's most intimidating foes, but he is so overused in games. I think krystalak should have been the main villain instead
In Save The Earth and Unleashed Space Godzilla was the big bad. In Godzilla Monster of Monsters for the NES King Ghidorah was the final enemy. In Super Godzilla it was…I think Mecha-Ghidorah or Spacezilla. In Destroy All Monsters it was Orga. I don’t actually remember what the big bad in PS4 Godzilla was. Or City Shrouded in Shadow (considering that one was a crossover it could have been anything. Angels, Kaiju, god knows what.)
I think he's alright, though I really dislike the movies he comes from. Don't really enjoy playing him in this game either, his playstyle feels much slower; he was way more fun to play in GSTE.
Honestly, Kiryu is... not very fun to play in this game. A majority of his attacks are really close range with slow start-up, and his Absolute Zero Cannon cannot be fired while standing on the ground, else it hits nothing - you have to actually perform it mid-jump in order for it to perform properly!
Truthfully? Not really. His moves are really slow and have weird hit detection, the cooldown for his rush attack is one of the slowest in the game, and his Absolute Zero doesn't hit at all unless you jump and use it (they didn't make it aim straight for whatever reason).
SuperGodzillaGaming You have to release the A+B+Z+C buttons after hitting them to make the Absolute Zero Cannon hit straight. The main issue with the move for me is he doesn’t turn unlike the Rage Attack version in Save the Earth, so if enemies are even slightly off center, it’ll still miss. That’s why I usually go for the Electric Power Surge, because stunning enemies means you have all the time in the world to aim your attack, and enemies won’t move out of the way or interrupt it. Finished off Spacegodzilla that way on my last Story Mode playthrough.
