How is it a hacked ability? Ferrothorn used Worry Seed on Shedinja, giving it the ability Insomnia. Then Carbink, who has Sturdy, used Skill Swap to give Shedinja its ability (Wonder guard can't be swapped)
Kathryn Chandria Wow, so formal. Pretty sure it was a joke. But anyways, this combo of shedinja with sturdy is overused in "balanced hackmons" on showdown. Their are very few outs but Club 1kJho even lessened these outs by paralyzing shedinja, something you can't ensure in a 1v1 battle. xD
Ah... I remember seeing this on my 3DS via the battle recorder item... I have to say, this is one of the most fiendish set ups I've ever seen in Pokemon... I love it.
I respect the opponent for sticking through it even though he knew he was pretty much boned, there are so many players out there who quite when their best pokemon are taken out and are in a situation that is just utterly hopeless.
Hey, I'm the person you battled against with that Shedinja! Gotta say, I loved your strategy! Really creative and I didn't think you could use Shedinja in that way! Don't know if it would have made a difference if I used my Diggersby instead of my Zygarde...But great battle regardless. Yes, I am aware that I'm 6 years late saying this!
It's not that intricate. You just have to worry seed Shedinja, then swap abilities. Then treat the rest of your team as supports. Only, it's hard as hell to pull off.
Carbinks appear in hordes, so go encounter hordes in Reflection cave until you find a Carbink one, then use a high leveled Surf move. Anyone who survives is Sturdy.
I have to say, congrats for pulling this off. Trick Room seems to have worked to get it all together before the opponent can stop it, and that Final Gambit was pretty hilarious. This is also why people should have Hail/Sandstorm/Entry Hazards/Burn/Toxic/Leech Seed/etc... And not just brute force with legendaries.
However, a few of those reasons are exactly why he had his Carbink use Thunder Wave on Shedinja. That way he couldn't be burned or poisoned. But the rest are completely viable ways to get rid of Shedinja, at least, to my knowledge.
Yeah, I was puzzled about the intentional paralysis, and then I realized it would cancel any attempts to burn/poison Shedinja. The others would be useful though. Note to self: if I see Shedinja show up in any multi battles, I will try to KO anything that looks like it has Sturdy *immediately*.
Viridian Fields Hahah, yep. I was cackling when I saw him Para himself. But really, I've been trying to understand the growing Triples Meta more and more and it seems like you should always have something with gastro acid, simple, skill swap, ect. My personal favorite is Misdreavus.
Yep.One day i was in showdown trying my poison monotype on didnt know he was setting up a sturdinja then poisoined his mega lopunny which he switches out to his shedinja. perfect timing XD
Just so everyone knows, in this video it didn't reveal what item he had on his shedinja or if it pertained to the match he was playing. So, for everyone saying sandstorm or hail could have stopped his shedinja, two words... Safety Goggles.
Mai Son And the opponent has a whole turn where he can focus on poisoning/burning the Shedinja, while they Worry Seed/Skill Swap him. Also, Roar, entry hazards, Trick, whatever. There are plenty of things to destroy the Shedinja. More of a fail from the opponent, but I guess that you can fall into Sturdy Shedinja pretty easily as it is not really common.
HeavyMachineGun No, he had a trickroom, and because carbink and Ferrothorn have incredible low speed, they will almost certainly get off the worry seed/ skill swap combo. You could potentialy status though, but that would have to be done on the first turn, before the next turn when ferrothorn can paralyze it.
That's what I meant to say. The worry seed/skill swap combo leaves you a free turn to focus on status him, if possible. But, as I said, you can completely fall on that because not carrying a proper counter to Sturdy Shedinja is the normal thing.
And now that there are safety goggles, the only weakness this has is rough skin, confusion, leech seed, and mold breaker. Not invulnerable, but pretty damn close. Trolliest strategy I've ever seen.
this is pure genius! wonderful gimmick, glad to see some people are still having fun and being creative. you just earned yourself a like, subscribe, and facebook/tumblr share. kudos! :)
This is a difficult setup to pull off that still has counters. Notably, Ghost-types' Curse can hit ANYTHING that doesn't have Magic Guard and can't somehow make a net gain of 1/4 of its HP every turn without getting hit.
It's a cool strategy, but it'll only work that quickly in Triples. Doubles the Shedinja's dead before you can switch the worry seeder. And though that Thunder Wave you used protects him from Poison and Burn damage, he could've still easily been K.O.'d with Hail, Sandstorm, Confusion, Leech Seed, the residual damage from Wrap, Fire Spin, Whirlpool and Infestation; or just get blasted off the field with a Roar, Whirlwind or Dragon Tail, destroying it's set up. Or either supporter being Taunted, preventing set up. Not to mention Stealth Rock, Spikes and Toxic Spikes wiping the Shedinja out the second it enters the field. Then of course the opponent could just get rid of the Sturdy ability through their own Skill Swap, Worry Seed or Entrainment, suppress it with Gastro Acid, or just circumvent it entirely with Mold Breaker. I'm sure you had to fight a ton of matches before you finally ran into someone who didn't have any of these options available, most of them extremely common. Not to mention someone with enough patients to actually let you take the win, while being mercilessly taunted with False Swipes... Kudos Craig, seriously. And if it only took a few matches, then you were very lucky. Still, a neat strategy. Maybe now our little Ghostly, Buggy friend will get some respect as a gimmicky niche triple battler.
bro if that shedninjia is holding goofy specs weather condition cant hurt him but stull can be removed out from br and still he out there be4 they lay in hazards
Eric Siew That's true, but still that only protects it from weather Hail and Sandstrom. Still there are way to get those goggles off. Oh! And there's another way to one shot him right there, Trick or Switcheroo Black Sludge onto him. I've run into that one a few times.
MarxForever I did indeed fight a lot of matches, the real challenges is getting someone to not disconnect. I did take precautions to prevent those common moves though. The first two final gambit users are meant to KO any potential stealth rock/spike users. I explode carbink asap so that I have no pokemon besides what's on the field, preventing roar/whirlwind. Tested confusion, doesn't kill it. That said, theres still a lot of risk in this strategy.
Club 1kJho I did notice that Explosion + Final Gambit to lower your team size. And honestly, it looks like you've done everything you can to maximize this strategy (well, maybe you could fit a Safe Guard in there to prevent Confuse Ray?). However it's really just too risky and too easy to counter to ever really become mainstream. That said, I hate mainstream strategies and applaud your creativity, sincerely I do. But I also feel another, perhaps more personal downside to this team, is that it can only produce two types of out comes. 1. They're completely unprepared, and you've locked them down, and now they have to wait several turns. 2. They tear the whole thing down with a single Leech Seed or Confuse Ray. Neither of these are going to be much fun for the other player. Which is kind of a shame. Equal matches, where both sides exchange blows are always the best, in my opinion. Also I do think the False Swipes, and Shedinja's Final Gambits is bit much. Try to have some respect for your opponent, dude. Just give Shedinja some hard hitting non-physical moves (so you don't have to worry about Rocky Helms or the like) and just win the dang match.
Since you wrote such a long post, I'll address a few points of yours. First of all, you mention I have no respect for my opponent, how so? Because I didn't use a hard hitting move to finish him off sooner? you can't tell me not to use final gambit on a shedinja because that's the whole point of the video, which is winning a game with shedinja using final gambit. If I want the main focus to be sturdy shedinja, I would've named the video Sturdy shedinja. But I don't, because sturdy shedinja has been done before, ever since the introduction of audino with skill swap and entrainment. It is unfortunate that the majority of viewers does not get the joke about final gambit shedinja, and rather put focus on the invulnerability strategy. But I can't help it. Andohbytheway, I respect craig very much for putting up with me and not forfeiting midway, thank you very much. In your two scenario that you stated, you claimed neither is very fun for the other player. But everyone has a different concept of fun. I enjoy using defensive/stall teams, it may not be fun for the other guy who runs 6 sweepers, but should I change my team and use what I don't enjoy using? Of course not. And even if they tore my team apart using a single leech seed, how do you know they aren't having fun? For some people, winning = fun. And you can't dictate how others have fun. P.S. confuse ray can't kill sturdy shedinja.
This guy (Craig) literally beat the Elite Four and caught Zygarde and thought "Hey, why not a battle with some newbs with my awesome starter, pokemon that looked cool, other pokemon that looked cool that i had to google to learn that I have to turn the ds upside down (that last part is pretty reasonable i did too), the legendary that i so bravely caught with my unlimited supply of ultra bawlz considering i didn't spend my poke dollars on something that would make the game more fun, and the other legendary that i courageously traveled to find and caught in a hard battle with my only master bawl! TL;DR: This guy TOTALLY deserved that trolling
oh, yeah, and don't forget the other starter from before i was born (me too) that took me so long to get, considering finding it took the same amount of time that i put into having fun with this game!
Hahahahaha, I can only laugh at that. Final Gambitted by Shedinja is quite insulting if not outright humilliating. I still can´t stop laughing whilke I´m writing this.
Acutally its would be popular, but still not everybody will use it (because many teams carry at least 1 person with toxic or whatever, and its the end if someone use toxic, lolz
ive watched this video many times and every single time im just blown away at the end. you go through all that for a suicide move. i love it. lawful evil.
There for the only way to over come this strategy is with stealth rock, toxic spikes, ect. but sense everyone has those moves you would need a rapidspinner to remove them. unless of course, the shedniga is sent out first, then you would need a move like roar or wirlwind to switch it out. its an unfair strategy but with the right moves its easy to overcome. however i would lose because my team with all that stuff is still on black 2.
these are the kind of battles i like coming across they arent your typical strategys you see and are fun to try and counter kudos to you for coming up with this team
Man I love seeing these kinds of battles. Like even when it's really obvious you're facing a kid with no experience (kudos to him for not just disconnecting) they're still mesmerizing.
That was a fun watch and sturdy shedinja is a monster and yes there are ways to mess this up but all those scenarios people are saying is more like what if because during battles if you don't have anything that has weather, burn, or hp sapping its pretty much na at that point since you can't counter it. Don't know about you but I don't build my team around an anti-sturdy shedinja team and I don't think anyone else does too so when you do face something like that and your opponent gets rid of all you weather, burn, hp stealing pokemon you are pretty much done. The pint if the video was a joke in using final gambit with shedinja not about how difficult or how easy it is to counter, it was just a fun video to watch.
***** Paralyze it intentionally, like he/she did in the video. Will-o-wisp and toxic won't work. Leech seed, I think, and curse from a ghost type can only KO it then.
As soon as you started using false swipe I saw it coming and laughed so damn hard. What a good damn battle! I'm gonna be remembering this for a long time.
that was pretty awesome. I didnt expect the false swipe and was expecting the battle to come down to gardevoir vs shedinja then you just use final gambit for a troll. XD
Tyler Barrett Well, yeah. It's so odd. Often times, whenever someone has one of these crazy strategies, the video they post is against someone who clearly isn't very good at competitive play. And there's ALWAYS a counter to every strategy.
That is just epic, I love it. And I love how this guy used two legendaries. They're not all they're cracked up to be, and I don't get why people don't see that and think that legendaries make them impossible to beat. I wonder what this guy thinks of his legends now x3
You see, shedinja has long been one of my favorites, but naturally I haven't been able to actually use it because it's made of paper. Not going to copy this, but it makes me smile knowing my favorite pokemon can become a monster through the power of friendship.
Totally not gonna rip this off someday. I remember someone making a similar tactic to this, except they had Shedinja with Skill Swap (Gen 3 TM), Entrainment Audino, and Balloon Eelektross. Idea was to have Shedinja use Skill Swap with Audino to pass Wonder Guard on turn 1, then have Audino use Entrainment on Eelektross Turn 2. Never saw it in practice but still it was pretty gold. This nonetheless was hilarious and creative
OH WAIT. It was Mimic Shedinja, not Skill Swap. My bad, haha. Shedinja Mimiced Entrainment from Audino and then used it on Eelektross, and that Eelektross was using Magnet Rise, not holding an Air Balloon. That's what I meant to say
LOL thats the most disrespectful hit ever LOL, final gambit with shedinja kill. Instant sub after that, and cool to see a deviljho on your profile pic.
Things that can ko this shedinja: entry hazards, confusion (unless persim berry), hail/sand (unless ssafety goggles), leech seed, infestation, taunt can stop the initial setup, and losing carbink or the t-waver before they could do their thing. There may also be a few other ways that I have not yet seen used (I have been using a similar tactic on pokemon showdown but in doubles and with entrainment lopunny).
I noticed a lot of people are talking about how to counter a Sturdy Shedinja, but wouldn't it be easier to kill it beforehand with shadow sneak or a prankster will-o-wisp? I don't think Trick Room counters priorities, does it?
I think a Volcarona with Heatwave could save the situation And with Shedinja, Ferrothorn and Lucario on the Team, A good fire type would do the trick. The opponent played quite wrong...
accept he was already paralyzed there was nothing the other kid could do as soon as he switched in with it he got the sturdy and then the other kid didnt know what was gonna happen so he hit it with a t bolt and got really unlucky with the paralisis
Sturdy Shedinja. That's the most evil thing I've ever seen.
With paralysis and safety goggles
Wow, a LEGIT Sturdy Shedinja...... can't say I saw that coming.
It must feel bad to be finished off by a Final Gambit Shedinja.
+Jackson Yuan I wouldn't worry about it, hacked ability, at least the days of wonderguard spiritombs are gone
How is it a hacked ability? Ferrothorn used Worry Seed on Shedinja, giving it the ability Insomnia. Then Carbink, who has Sturdy, used Skill Swap to give Shedinja its ability (Wonder guard can't be swapped)
munja had insomnia
It has only one HP, they said. It'll be KOed by any damage, they said.
just by super effective moves, but in that case it has sturdy because of skill swap, so it didnt die
Kathryn Chandria Wow, so formal. Pretty sure it was a joke. But anyways, this combo of shedinja with sturdy is overused in "balanced hackmons" on showdown. Their are very few outs but Club 1kJho even lessened these outs by paralyzing shedinja, something you can't ensure in a 1v1 battle. xD
Just use effective moves they said..... you'll be fine they said.....
Nobody told me that steel type wasn't one of them... ;_;
But that is no ordinary shedninja its the sturdy shedninja!!!!!!!!!!
This is both amazing and terrifying!
Whoa you like pokemon
Didn't expect to see creepsmcpasta here
The opponent being the only one to use a mega and a legendary added insult to his loss.
Shedinja is a mighty!!!
Yeah, lol, I really lost in the most unexpected way!
A mega and two legendaries lol.
This was quite possibly the single most brilliantly evil thing I have ever seen.
And for that, I salute you.
I want to, but I also want to keep my soul, so I will pass on that.

I have to say, this is one of the most fiendish set ups I've ever seen in Pokemon... I love it.
why is everyone hating on this guy? he made a good strategy and used it to make us watch in amazement. geez

I'm surprised the chestnaught (or however you spell it) didnt use leech seed on it
Miranda Scovill Sorry miranda for my grammar. I'm from the Netherlands so my english isn't perfect
***** more bad grammar
Hey i'm doing a nuzlocke right now you should watch it
Acutally its would be popular, but still not everybody will use it (because many teams carry at least 1 person with toxic or whatever, and its the end if someone use toxic, lolz
ive watched this video many times and every single time im just blown away at the end. you go through all that for a suicide move. i love it. lawful evil.
Can't you just burn the Shedinja? Or poison it? Or use weather?
If it's wearing Safety Goggles, weather won't work. But burn/poison and entry hazards like stealth rocks should end it.
MegaNarwhalGuy
which is why he used thunder wave on it. so it couldnt be burned or poisoned.
There for the only way to over come this strategy is with stealth rock, toxic spikes, ect. but sense everyone has those moves you would need a rapidspinner to remove them. unless of course, the shedniga is sent out first, then you would need a move like roar or wirlwind to switch it out. its an unfair strategy but with the right moves its easy to overcome. however i would lose because my team with all that stuff is still on black 2.
yes it would work but he paralised him self so that would not work
you cant use roar on a paralyzed pokemon?
these are the kind of battles i like coming across they arent your typical strategys you see and are fun to try and counter kudos to you for coming up with this team
This is why i LOVE shedinja! Nice work!
*point
safety googles for weathers
I was wondering if using skill swap another time would work? But yeah these would pretty much be the only options. Kinda genius though
You are seriously a genius. Absolutely beautiful stuff here mate.
For All You Wondering Why He T-Waved Shedinja, It Was So Shedinja Could Not Be Hit By Toxic Or Will-O-Wisp.
Please don't type with all caps it makes you look like a fool.
I laughed so hard watching this incredibly ridiculous battle!
xD
This is trolling on a whole new level congratulations Mr. Club 1KJho haha
That is hilarious! He is invincible.
Except against weather teams. (Or at least sandstorm and hail)
***** How to make sturdy shedinja toast: Mold effing breaker.
Amanda Melin Or Toxic...will-o-wisp, curse from a ghost type, leech seed...etc
***** Paralyze it intentionally, like he/she did in the video. Will-o-wisp and toxic won't work. Leech seed, I think, and curse from a ghost type can only KO it then.
As soon as you started using false swipe I saw it coming and laughed so damn hard.
What a good damn battle! I'm gonna be remembering this for a long time.
Has everyone forgotten that RAMPARDOS BREAKS THE MOLD! Mold breaker and be done
I think I just meta'd my pants.
Omg. Sturdy Shedinja with Follow Me
KinsanGaming101 Pachirisu? HAH!
+KinsanGaming101 That'll be enough, Satan.
that was pretty awesome. I didnt expect the false swipe and was expecting the battle to come down to gardevoir vs shedinja then you just use final gambit for a troll. XD
Perish song, spiky shield, rocky helmet, weather, leech seed, and confusion are all I can think of that would kill this thing. Flame burst?
Well, for weather, it was probably holding Safety Goggles. The rest of that could screw it up though.
Then there's whirlwind and roar
Tyler Barrett Well, yeah. It's so odd. Often times, whenever someone has one of these crazy strategies, the video they post is against someone who clearly isn't very good at competitive play. And there's ALWAYS a counter to every strategy.
RandomChannel128
Except Mega Rayquaza. The only "counter" to that is to curl up into a ball and await your doom :P
***** Or an Ice-type attack from Kyurem.
Great video 10/10. Loved the false swipe+final gambit at the end just to add salt to the wound.
This is absolutely disgusting. Two thumbs up.
Shedinja is one of my favorites, so this is pretty sweet to see. Thanks for the strategy!
That last turn...
Just... Cruel, man.
This may have been said but you got a bit lucky that the Gardevoir didn't switch and Chesnaught didn't use Spiky Shield
Dayum Shedinja is untouchable!
GENIUS!!! WORRY SEED TO SKILL SWAP MAKE EFFECT ON SHEDINJA TO GET STURDY GENIUS (peer the finak gambit shedinja)
Shat myself when I realized Shedinja only had 1 hp. Fucking genius.
it has always had only 1 hp
That is just epic, I love it. And I love how this guy used two legendaries. They're not all they're cracked up to be, and I don't get why people don't see that and think that legendaries make them impossible to beat. I wonder what this guy thinks of his legends now x3
Damn, Shedinja taking souls!
Great combination of Shedinja's 1 HP and the sturdy ability! Well done!!!
Suddenly , Sandstorm
Weather goggles.no sandstorm damage
then again, every other poke carries knock off these days.. so I feel like that's helpful but certainly not bulletproof
Suddenly, Safety Goggles.
club that shedninja is probably the most diabolical thing I've seen in a long time
wow you destroyed my mind
Watching this in 2021... What a cruel setup.
Beautiful.great match
You can't skill swap Wonder Guard
Tyranistorm
ah so thats why they used worry seed. I already wondered.
OH WAIT. It was Mimic Shedinja, not Skill Swap. My bad, haha. Shedinja Mimiced Entrainment from Audino and then used it on Eelektross, and that Eelektross was using Magnet Rise, not holding an Air Balloon. That's what I meant to say
***** That matches what I remember now. It was a cool idea.
DX
LOL thats the most disrespectful hit ever LOL, final gambit with shedinja kill. Instant sub after that, and cool to see a deviljho on your profile pic.
We should call this UnDedinja.
2 words: Mold Breaker.
good luck breaking through ferrothorn when physical attackers like mega gyarados, haxorus, and excadrill have mold breaker.
Ferrothorn is easy.
leftovers hp, leech seed hp, power whip, gyro ball, its not going down easy.
It is with a fire attack.
switch places or switch out I'm not sure if most mold breaker sets even use viable fire moves on any mold breaker pokemon
I've always liked Shedinja ever since I first saw it in the anime. Now, I love it even more.
Calm down Satan...
This is really well planned out, tough it is by far the dirtiest tactic I have ever seen. Nice work :)
fucking amazing
Multi-hit moves and weather damage would counter this... unless Shedinja is wearing Safety Goggles in which case...
I noticed a lot of people are talking about how to counter a Sturdy Shedinja, but wouldn't it be easier to kill it beforehand with shadow sneak or a prankster will-o-wisp? I don't think Trick Room counters priorities, does it?
will o wisp would kill it even after it has sturdy
Yes, but prankster would allow you to go first before the trick room t-wave comes in.
I think a Volcarona with Heatwave could save the situation
And with Shedinja, Ferrothorn and Lucario on the Team, A good fire type would do the trick.
The opponent played quite wrong...
Lucario and accelgor are quite fast, but ghost types can't get touched by Final Gambit.
accept he was already paralyzed there was nothing the other kid could do as soon as he switched in with it he got the sturdy and then the other kid didnt know what was gonna happen so he hit it with a t bolt and got really unlucky with the paralisis
From the seccond Shedinja came in and started swaping abilities, I just... wow. Holy shit, man. Nice job.
