When Dutch used mud to defeat the Predator in 87. These super Predators developed a heart beat sensor so if their enemy uses the same tactics they could see where they are. Amazing detail.
The predators have actually had various vision modes since predator 2. In that movie soldiers attempting to capture the predator had suits to hide their body heat and the predator just cycled modes until it found somthing that worked (in that case a mode that highlighted the light put out by their flashlights).

It's rather like different systems, like Apple and Microsoft. They also hunt different. On one hand they hunt alone, on the other hand in a group of 3 and with dogs. Amd sooner or later more informations give advantages like laser-distance-calculator, heat-vision and quick translator as seen in the newer Predator-movie. His character just isn't that likeable in the movie I don't blame the actor but they have him act like a dick from the get go. although he does sound like he's trying to impersonate Christian Bales batman at times 😂
You look at special forces, close protection specialists and anyone of that profession, they're almost always more akin to Brody in physical appearance. Arnie looked like a model, not an actual tactical fighter or soldier. I'd put my money on Brody's body type.

This film deserves far more credit than it got. Adrian Brody is awesome in this role. I know some don’t take him seriously however I liked this role for him. He nailed it. And Royce is a complex character I really liked as well as Isabelle. I wish we get to know if both of them made it off that planet and back to Earth alive in another future film. It is a lot of fun to see the Predators use killers of earth to see if they are the better killers. Almost like training themselves to become the top killers against the Aliens or anything else they face in their world. Thanks for uploading.
There is a graphic novel series that continues the story set in this movie. You can search for it. The story suggests that both Royce and Isabelle are stuck in the island but find ways to stay alive and they even gain the respect of some of these Predators. The two even develop some sort of romantic relationship as time goes on.

Maybe I should catch up to that point in the novel because I had only reached the point where the predators had given Royce a new armor (similar to their own) and that he had killed an advanced (bigger) predator that was hunting them. I didn't go beyond that point so it is interesting to learn that Isabelle had found a way back to Earth.
The footlong steamer I curled out into the toilet bowl this morning was better than The Predator. I dont think its an exaggeration to call it one of the worst films ever made.
That recent one would have been nice if it was just Rouge predators using DNA to make themselves strong fighting against normal predators who view them as heretics for defiling their culture

I respected Royce a lot as a protagonist because of how quick and smart he was. Like as soon as the predator helmet came off he didn’t hesitate for a second to get to work with that axe. He didn’t stand around being all shocked like whoa why do you look different or anything just nope time to get to work.
Your going to tell me 5 frag grenades going off 2 feet away from the predators, launching it 10 feet away from the point of the explosion, didn't cause one cut.

At that rate, the predator looks way more damaged than it should look for the amount of time that the battle pans out. People wouldn’t be satisfied with it looking so beaten up with the fighting just starting bc it’ll seem like Royce didn’t earn his victory even if it was a tough fight. Furthermore, the same effects would need to be applied to all of the actors and all the stuff they go throughout the movie. That includes, starvation, dehydration, and sleep deprivation. I love the masks, especially Tracker's. And the classic jungle hunter mask. Honestly, the directors and producers of Predators and Alien VS Predator were very respectful of the predator's aesthetic.
Maybe a little too many love letters in all these sequels if you ask me. The younger generation won’t know what’s being referenced whilst the original fans will always prefer the original. That said, I kinda enjoyed this movie and it’s little homages.

Honestly loved this movie I think the predators and aliens franchise has had the best CGI given the times they've even used it and that's rarely and good.
I actually love this movie. Always have done even when I saw it back in 2010. Never understand the hate it gets. It expanded on the lore the first two set up. And yes it is formulaic and takes a lot from the original but people just are never happy!

I don't hate it, and I own a copy of it, but I can see the criticism rationale. Hell, you even highlighted it yourself. It's essentially the first Predator flick with a twist of being on a different planet. This scene is a good example. Covered in mud, setting traps, and they even lifted the dialogue straight from Predator, almost verbatim. "I'm here, kill me, do it, do it now", etc. Fans are always looking for something new and interesting. There's only so much patience for a remake/reboot, which is what this essentially was on several levels. It follows the Hollywood tired formula of recent times. "Make it bigger, louder, with 'more', but don't stray from what comes before." Original and new = Risky in the eyes of the money-men. The new one currently in development looks to be doing something different, though how different remains to be seen. I suspect it's going to be the same formula again, just 300 years in the past from now, with Comanches.

That last one though ... jeez. Like you I can watch this movie and honestly enjoy it. Whilst I recognise the things that are wrong with it, or could have been done better, there's enough in there to keep me interested and entertained. What I'd like to see, which will never happen in a million years, is a movie from the Predator's perspective as he goes on a hunt. Easy enough to make his prey 'bad guys'. but I'd like to see more of Predator culture as a whole. Hell, I'll take subtitles. It would probably be really boring for the majority of the audience though. :)
The 1st Predator was the best, but this one is the 2nd best. Has that same gritty, intense, violent, fighting against all odds type of vibe to it that the original had.
The new Predator Prey will be better! Because Disney knows how to make a great movie. Take what made the original Predator so damn good.. and throw it in the garbage! Then replace it with modern day woke-feminism...and gayness... and there you go!

Well, he is supposed to be part of the clan that mutates themselves to make them stronger, faster...etc. That's why he's bigger and different looking than the regular Predators.
Lets admit it royce is Chad. Though I'd be interested to see how far a predator would be willing to go in order to fight against thor. That would an interesting match as we know predators armor is powered by electricity.
Well yeah but I think hes actually just really salty and wanted to torture Royce before killing him. I mean he kept beating Royce up more and more till he decided it was enough. And he certainly didn't expect a sudden sniper shot at his back. Meanwhile with Eric, he didn't really care and just went for the kill because Eric didn't annoy him when Royce made up a whole plan with the grenades, fire and mud glitching the predator's mask and then giving him a big beating, the predator was certainly angry after that
Love how he’s got all those free swings on the predator with that axe and he’s uses all of them against its heavily armored head and not on all the completely unarmored parts of its body. Genius.
Yes he set his ship on course for earth so they could escape while he went to go fight the super predator but they had put a bomb on his ship in case he escaped, luckily the guy went back for the girl so he didn’t die. It shows it take off then blow up. He was already repaying them for setting him free
I think this does not do justice to the predator first movie. Where is said he kills to hunt, and shown that the predator gives a fair fight. And gives a ticket out if he losses.
I don’t understand how people don’t take Royce seriously. Most of your navy SEAL and green beret soldiers don’t look like Arnold. They look like Brody. He’s reasonably buff, and definitely athletic. You can’t tire out on the battlefield carrying around 70 pounds of extra muscle on you. There needs be be a balance. As is with many sports athletes and UFC fighters as well. Brody was perfect in his role as the complex, cold blooded, stoic and battle hardened mercenary that he played.
Not just any type of grenade. These were Hollywood grenades loaded with 10 gallons of Fuel that makes a huge fireball when they explode. Cuz we all know gunpowder makes insane fireballs from watching New years eve.
I may get a lot of hate for this comment but I think this predator movie was still better than the newest one prey. Dont get me wrong it had top production quality and was somewhat entertaining but the main character was not believable. She went from being a tribe gathere to its best warrior and beyond within a matter of a couple days in movie time. All other predator movies (good / bad) had main characters that were trained in combat and tactics and they struggled to survive and even then barely made it

If you're wondering why these ones are so dishonourable (except for the prisoner and of course the one that fought the yakuza) It's because they are bad bloods, the yautja version of criminals, if there were any true predators on the planet, they would be slaughtering the bad bloods, and probably take the humans back to earth.
The classic Predator in this was a younger one with minimal hunting experience apparently (no scars or markings to signify any big game hunts) so my headcanon is he was an impulsive young upstart who thought “hey I know how I’ll prove myself, I’ll take out the bad bloods and save their dishonourable caught big game hunts

And given that an Enforcer is a highly proven Elder of the Clan who has survived entire Xenomorph Hives before being granted the position, the Bad Bloods would be afrais.
You solve a problem when you run into a lot of issues using it. The humans the hunt don’t know how the predators see so they pick them off real easy, the ones that do figure out the heat signature system almost always manage to kill the predators off with any evidence of the issue being lost.
I like how Royce knows the sound of that gun since he saw it twice (roland gun and tusk predator) when you see the laser, there's definitely that sound meaning it's firing.
I know a lot of people questioned Adrian Brody as the lead but the whole point was he was a mercenary. He was intentionally nontraditional and the guy you get when the usual tactics don’t work. Him being an odd choice was 100% the point and Adrian nailed it
3:15 after seeing that predator punch the door and how stronger they’re than normal Yautja, you’d figure those punches and kicks would be breaking royces bones effortlessly
I mean from the first fall in the beginning of the movie, Royce should definitely have gotten internal damage. Broken a leg or something instead of dislocating a leg or arm. But plot you know? Or the Predator was merely moving his arm into Royce since he knows an actual punch would kill him. Look at Prey for example. That predator stood up and one good punch killed a Freaking bear so yes, either plot armor or the Berserker wanted to toy with him before killing him off.
I think the Predator is savoring the kill. These things have been hunting humans for a while, they definitely know when to hold themselves back when it comes to melee fighting to hurt humans just enough but not kill them outright. Royce definitely breaks a rib or 2 after this fight
The 3 bad blood Super Predators, especially the Berserker leader, was the most intense and badass looking variants, I think. He's even more reptilian looking and you can tell he's a whole different subspecies, quite a bit different in visual appearance, mostly in the facial structure/features. The increased size and height, compared to the regular predator species is somewhat noticable as well.
Falconer was my favorite of the three he was smart enough to create his own gear & unlike the other 2 he didn't totally dismiss tradition he still carried himself with some degree of honor during the Hunt.

This kind of modification was forbidden amongst the yautja hierarchy as it's basically cheating, ranks needs to be earned by experience not by modification. So they got outcasted but this actually caused a civil war, the super predator somehow won which was mentioned in the shane black predator. The mutated predator was the preda-alien in avp 2
It was a matter of minutes for Predator to "see" with his various layers of vision beyond and through the fire around! Remember in Predator 2 how he noticed the assault team in the warehouse by changing the settings of his sight!
I think it used UV vision in predator 2 so it could see the torches, that wouldn't have worked in this situation. However we only really have understanding of a few out of many of the spectrums they have on hand. Echo location/heartbeat, infrared/thermal , UV and I think night vision are what we know for certain (movies referenced only)
I think he was supposed to. He was going to have a simular role as Noland but sadly he declined. Personaly I'm good with it, because I don't want him to be the bad guy in the Predator movies.

I totally agree, both this movie and Terminator Salvation could have set up some pretty good sequels for both franchises, is too bad they never came to fruition.
I think it didn't do as well as they wanted. Like it made 120 million on a budget of 40 millions. That 3 time the budget but to Hollywood these days it not enought.
Out of all the things Royce could've done, he chooses to repeatedly hit the Beserker in the one area that he's armored. Why not stab him elsewhere? Gotta love literal plot armor!

It is a lot of fun to see the Predators use killers of earth to see if they are the better killers. Almost like training themselves to become the top killers against the Aliens or anything else they face in their world. Thanks for uploading.
I didn’t like him in King Kong but loved him in Predators.
There is a graphic novel series that continues the story set in this movie. You can search for it. The story suggests that both Royce and Isabelle are stuck in the island but find ways to stay alive and they even gain the respect of some of these Predators. The two even develop some sort of romantic relationship as time goes on.

Maybe I should catch up to that point in the novel because I had only reached the point where the predators had given Royce a new armor (similar to their own) and that he had killed an advanced (bigger) predator that was hunting them. I didn't go beyond that point so it is interesting to learn that Isabelle had found a way back to Earth.

The footlong steamer I curled out into the toilet bowl this morning was better than The Predator. I dont think its an exaggeration to call it one of the worst films ever made.
The one thing I did like about the new one was the fugitive predator even though he did die there's no denying that he was a badass.
That recent one would have been nice if it was just Rouge predators using DNA to make themselves strong fighting against normal predators who view them as heretics for defiling their culture

I respected Royce a lot as a protagonist because of how quick and smart he was. Like as soon as the predator helmet came off he didn’t hesitate for a second to get to work with that axe. He didn’t stand around being all shocked like whoa why do you look different or anything just nope time to get to work.
Predator is one of the few brands worthy of sequels.
Your going to tell me 5 frag grenades going off 2 feet away from the predators, launching it 10 feet away from the point of the explosion, didn't cause one cut.

At that rate, the predator looks way more damaged than it should look for the amount of time that the battle pans out. People wouldn’t be satisfied with it looking so beaten up with the fighting just starting bc it’ll seem like Royce didn’t earn his victory even if it was a tough fight.
Furthermore, the same effects would need to be applied to all of the actors and all the stuff they go throughout the movie. That includes, starvation, dehydration, and sleep deprivation. But these people are practically super humans. Suffice it to say, you’re asking for too much consistency to where it’d hurt the film

Honestly loved this movie I think the predators and aliens franchise has had the best CGI given the times they've even used it and that's rarely and good.
Actually all predators and aliens have been practical I believe (expect for the upgraded predator from the 2018 film)

I actually love this movie. Always have done even when I saw it back in 2010. Never understand the hate it gets. It expanded on the lore the first two set up. And yes it is formulaic and takes a lot from the original but people just are never happy!

I don't hate it, and I own a copy of it, but I can see the criticism rationale. Hell, you even highlighted it yourself.
It's essentially the first Predator flick with a twist of being on a different planet. This scene is a good example. Covered in mud, setting traps, and they even lifted the dialogue straight from Predator, almost verbatim. "I'm here, kill me, do it, do it now", etc.
Fans are always looking for something new and interesting. There's only so much patience for a remake/reboot, which is what this essentially was on several levels.
It follows the Hollywood tired formula of recent times. "Make it bigger, louder, with 'more', but don't stray from what comes before."
Original and new = Risky in the eyes of the money-men.
The new one currently in development looks to be doing something different, though how different remains to be seen. I suspect it's going to be the same formula again, just 300 years in the past from now, with Comanches.

Don't get me wrong - If I want to watch a Predator movie, I have no qualms putting this one on, or the first two. That last one though ... jeez. Like you I can watch this movie and honestly enjoy it.
Whilst I recognise the things that are wrong with it, or could have been done better, there's enough in there to keep me interested and entertained.
What I'd like to see, which will never happen in a million years, is a movie from the Predator's perspective as he goes on a hunt. Easy enough to make his prey 'bad guys'. but I'd like to see more of Predator culture as a whole. Hell, I'll take subtitles.
It would probably be really boring for the majority of the audience though. :)
The 1st Predator was the best, but this one is the 2nd best. Has that same gritty, intense, violent, fighting against all odds type of vibe to it that the original had.

Well yeah but I think hes actually just really salty and wanted to torture Royce before killing him. I mean he kept beating Royce up more and more till he decided it was enough. And he certainly didn't expect a sudden sniper shot at his back. Meanwhile with Eric, he didn't really care and just went for the kill because Eric didn't annoy him when Royce made up a whole plan with the grenades, fire and mud glitching the predator's mask and then giving him a big beating, the predator was certainly angry after that

Yes he set his ship on course for earth so they could escape while he went to go fight the super predator but they had put a bomb on his ship in case he escaped, luckily the guy went back for the girl so he didn’t die. It shows it take off then blow up. He was already repaying them for setting him free
I think this does not do justice to the predator first movie. Where is said he kills to hunt, and shown that the predator gives a fair fight. And gives a ticket out if he losses.

Most of your navy SEAL and green beret soldiers don’t look like Arnold. They look like Brody. He’s reasonably buff, and definitely athletic. You can’t tire out on the battlefield carrying around 70 pounds of extra muscle on you. There needs be be a balance. As is with many sports athletes and UFC fighters as well. Brody was perfect in his role as the complex, cold blooded, stoic and battle hardened mercenary that he played.

I may get a lot of hate for this comment but I think this predator movie was still better than the newest one prey. Dont get me wrong it had top production quality and was somewhat entertaining but the main character was not believable. She went from being a tribe gathere to its best warrior and beyond within a matter of a couple days in movie time. All other predator movies (good / bad) had main characters that were trained in combat and tactics and they struggled to survive and even then barely made it
I know right. No person especially a woman who has no solid experience with training and combat could have survived what happened in that movie

It's because they are bad bloods, the yautja version of criminals, if there were any true predators on the planet, they would be slaughtering the bad bloods, and probably take the humans back to earth.

The classic Predator in this was a younger one with minimal hunting experience apparently (no scars or markings to signify any big game hunts) so my headcanon is he was an impulsive young upstart who thought “hey I know how I’ll prove myself, I’ll take out the bad bloods and save their dishonourable caught big game hunts

You solve a problem when you run into a lot of issues using it. The humans the hunt don’t know how the predators see so they pick them off real easy, the ones that do figure out the heat signature system almost always manage to kill the predators off with any evidence of the issue being lost.

3:15 after seeing that predator punch the door and how stronger they’re than normal Yautja, you’d figure those punches and kicks would be breaking royces bones effortlessly

I mean from the first fall in the beginning of the movie, Royce should definitely have gotten internal damage. Broken a leg or something instead of dislocating a leg or arm. But plot you know? Or the Predator was merely moving his arm into Royce since he knows an actual punch would kill him. Look at Prey for example. That predator stood up and one good punch killed a Freaking bear so yes, either plot armor or the Berserker wanted to toy with him before killing him off.
I think the Predator is savoring the kill. These things have been hunting humans for a while, they definitely know when to hold themselves back when it comes to melee fighting to hurt humans just enough but not kill them outright. Royce definitely breaks a rib or 2 after this fight
The 3 bad blood Super Predators, especially the Berserker leader, was the most intense and badass looking variants, I think. He's even more reptilian looking and you can tell he's a whole different subspecies, quite a bit different in visual appearance, mostly in the facial structure/features. The increased size and height, compared to the regular predator species is somewhat noticable as well.
Falconer was my favorite of the three he was smart enough to create his own gear & unlike the other 2 he didn't totally dismiss tradition he still carried himself with some degree of honor during the Hunt.

This kind of modification was forbidden amongst the yautja hierarchy as it's basically cheating, ranks needs to be earned by experience not by modification. So they got outcasted but this actually caused a civil war, the super predator somehow won which was mentioned in the shane black predator. The mutated predator was the preda-alien in avp 2

It was a matter of minutes for Predator to "see" with his various layers of vision beyond and through the fire around! Remember in Predator 2 how he noticed the assault team in the warehouse by changing the settings of his sight!
I think it used UV vision in predator 2 so it could see the torches, that wouldn't have worked in this situation.
However we only really have understanding of a few out of many of the spectrums they have on hand.
Echo location/heartbeat, infrared/thermal , UV and I think night vision are what we know for certain (movies referenced only)
This shows that humans are the most apex predator on the planet.

This is my favorite concept , game planet, group of humans vs Preds, EXPAND ON THIS! Add more lore. Seasons of hunting, ect ect... Just expand the concept the meat is there. (But the sexual predator was just wierd) next cast Bill Cosby then rite?

The feeling about this film after you watch The Predator just like the feeling about Terminator Salvation after you watch that fucked up movie Genisys.
People can't understand the greatness of it when someone do something differently. Time will prove the man who made Salvation and this movie was absolutely genius

God cannot accept imperfectness and we are imperfect cause we are sinners. People need salvation because god is perfect. God loves sinners (us) so much that his son Jesus Christ died in the cross for our sins so we can repent and follow him. The door is still open to this day! But there will be a time where that door will be shut. We cannot earn our salvation through good things we do. Salvation is through repenting of your sins, believing on what Jesus Christ did, and follow his ways. This is the gift from god here. Jesus became sin and died so we can have a clean record. John 3:16 For god so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
I totally agree, both this movie and Terminator Salvation could have set up some pretty good sequels for both franchises, is too bad they never came to fruition.

Never understood why this didn't get a sequel it wasn't terrible stuck with the spirit of the original.
I think it didn't do as well as they wanted. Like it made 120 million on a budget of 40 millions. That 3 time the budget but to Hollywood these days it not enought.
