      Sokia Grg in Korean, they don't have an r or l sound, it's both of them combined. So it certain times it may sound like an r and other times it may sound like an l, but it really is a combined l and r sound.

      @@palmtree1958 omg shut up. I can speak Korean, I’m actually going back to Korea in a few months to visit some family. If you are speaking in Korean you can say “I speak *hangul* “ it literally doesn’t matter. Stop correcting people on something when you’re wrong.

    • @dorothycelly
      @dorothycelly 7 років тому +58

      Tacko idk if this is true. but i heard (from a youtuber: BenDeen) korean people don't use sarcasm alot. they understand the concept of sarcarsm but they just don't use it in conversations. so sometimes it can be awkward...

    • @-danR
      @-danR 7 років тому +28

      The problem is that the concept 'sarcasm' does not stand in the semantic universe as an absolute thing across all languages and cultures. Even between dialects, English and American sarcasms (note the plural) can be a source of confusion and misunderstanding:
      "Excuse me, but I wonder if I might ask if you would be so kind as to..."
      "Just _ask_ , you frickin' limey, you don't have to get sarcastic."
      "I'm terribly sorry, but I suspect that you have misunder..."
      "There you go again, gtfo..."
      But even between Americans, and even in the same _city_ , check this out, everyone is in or near Seattle (and not far from me):
      www.yelp.com/topic/lynnwood-why-so-sarcastic-all-the-time
      As best we can cross-correlate 'sarcasm' between the two languages, it's hard to make sarcasm anything other than very serious speech in Korean. Sarcasm is not casual, it doesn't have a spectrum from 'banter', 'teasing', friendly sarcasm, criticism, insult, abuse, etc. Sarcasm is put-down, plain and simple.
