To those learning Korean, especially new learners, not being afraid to make a mistake is HUGE! Korean Unnie is right, the Koreans I have met are so warm and open to helping me speak better Korean. Even though I have been studying for years and I know I have improved and Korean friends have complimented me on how better my Korean has gotten through the years, I'm still not confident because I'm not at the same level as Native Korean speakers so I beat myself up about it which is the WRONG thing to do! Be confident, TALK, it's the only way we learn =)
Niki Pezzano Thank you for writing this comment! I’m eleven, and I’ve been studying on Korean for about two months. I’m always worried about not speaking fast enough, or pronouncing the words right, but thanks to you, I just got reminded that if I do my best and keep trying, some day I’ll be able to speak fluently.
Niki Pezzano This was the hardest part for me. I would get shaky and nervous, where I've been a great public speaker for my whole life, but can suddenly not talk to a single perspn standing before me. It would take me a whole minute just to ask a question because I would get nervous, forget Korean, and keep starting my semtence over. It was still scary on the phone, but finding good language partners online has helped me shake that fear quite a bit. They must have been really annoyed at first to hear me say keep stopping after I thought I missed a particle, jumping from 제가 to 저는 to 나는 like a jackrabbit, and stop right before the verb and start over like 5 times. Lol they gave me tons of advice and forced me to repeat what they said again and again, and explaoned as much as they could. The first two times were awkward, but about 5 minutes into my first call to my new friend 민지, we were playing a game of Simon (the sequence game) between English and Korean 😂 and I loved it! I got so nervous that I forgot Minji was also learning English! When I remembered that, it made the whole thing a lot of fun. Now I have a friend and a language partner (:
Pickle Cat 🤔 for what I know both means Korean (language) but I thought there's should be some kind of difference, maybe something like "you use A in this kind of situations or B in this other kind of situations"
Pickle Cat I thought they were unchangeable I was wrong I just searched up about it, you right 한국어 is more formal and not used very much in every day speech, and while I was reading I realized about 말 that is used to refer to the words one says as the language as well ^^ tysm now I have it clear
Thank you for touching on not worrying about speaking broken Korean. I went to SKT yesterday and signed up for a new phone contract, and I spoke in Korean the whole time. The employee and I understood each other for the most part, and it is quite an empowering feeling knowing that my Korean is finally reaching a level where I can do that. I know I still have a long way to go in terms of fluency, but these little successful scenarios really help in motivating me to further improve myself.
Imagine someone knowing only a few sentences in Korean and asking someone in Korea about something and then the Korean says “Omg you are so good in Korean” so then they take you to a tv show and people there start speaking so much Korean and you don’t understand anything 😂😂🤦♀️🤦♀️
Your intro was such a relief. I'm trying to learn Korean and I want to go to Korea. But I know there are formal and informal ways of saying things. And all I can visualize is being in Korea and accidentally talking to an elder/stranger informally and they get mad and like......chop my head off or something idk lol
Cup of Tae, w/Suga Kookies & no jams when I went to Korea I found that when someone like a family member started a conversation I just start with “sorry I’m not very good at korean” and they will most likely be fine with it and even help you and best case scenario they’ll start speaking in English for you ( ^ω^ )
I love how she adds expression into every word, it really helps you absorb the meaning and when you say it after listening a few times it feels very fluid... thank you
I love how often you repeat the phrases and when you say it slowly and clearly; it's the only way I learn instead of getting frustrated because I can't get it
I understand a little bit when I hear someone speaking korean(or read a comment that is written in Korean) but I don't know how to speak it well 😅 or make a sentence well
Trevor Standing Soldier Take advantage of that opportunity. A shop close to my house is korean own and they often speak in korean so I'm using that to get used to speaking in korean
I wish I knew these sentences much earlier! These are like "keys" to learn more. They should be thought at the beginning of the learning process, together with things like "this is easy / difficult". Thanks for this extremely useful lesson.
I've been watching a lot of Korean Unnie lessons and I think I'm getting better.... sort of. You don't have to take my advice Unnie but I think that maybe you should have a lesson overview/review at the end? This helps me when I learn, I don't know if everyone else needs it, but It would be very helpful! Gomabda for the amazing tips and this lesson Unnie!
Thanks Korean Unnie! I've checked out a LOT of KO courses and yours is best. Your stuff is useful and you waste no time with a lot of unnecessary chatter,
I'm not even a native English speaker, I have to thank God for the capacity of learning English first. Now I'm on my way to learn Korean! Thanks for the video Unnie💜
Thank you so so much!!!! I just stumbled upon your channel and I was blown away by the way you teach. Thank you again. Oh yeah, I went to Korea many years ago and for the most part the natives helped me learn the language once they knew I was enamored and curious about Korean culture.
Great video, thanks for giving us the tools to ask questions ourselves and we can learn more! thanks so much. One other feedback i had for your video, can you put in time stamps at the at the start of phrases in the description, then we can quickly go back and forwards to the exact point to rehear certain bits! Thanks so much for these videos you do such a great job, keep it up!!!
Im currently learning korean online and I don’t have anybody to ask of some words. i was very confused how to use 이/가 now it’s clear to me now . thankssssa 🙇♀️
Thanks for these great videos!! You explain the translations to the best level of detail which is awesome. I love how you explain the individual words in the phrases and also add context! 감사합니다! 또는, 이것이 한국말로 뭐예요? (Points to hangar) now I really want to know! ㅋㅋㅋ

For me, the hardest part is pronouncing words, and idk how to improve because I don't know anyone who speaks Korean
Niki Pezzano thanks YOU have me so much HOPE AND fighting !!😭💘

Btw is there any difference between 한국어 and 한국말?
Chimchim Jamjam 한극이 means Korea 한극말 means Korean language. (im so proud of myself for knowing this! Im learning too)
Pickle Cat 🤔 for what I know both means Korean (language) but I thought there's should be some kind of difference, maybe something like "you use A in this kind of situations or B in this other kind of situations"
Chimchim Jamjam no, I think you are referring to formal and informal language. The info I have given is correct.
