I picked up a couple of these new run myself, already had a Daylight so I did the Western Pacific and a In Service Black Southern Pacific. These are fantastic GS4s. Great video.
Very impressive and handsome model of the Southern Pacific GS4 class locomotive, if I ever decide to purchase any of these gs4 models in the future I would like to purchase a model featuring the postwar 1950s black/ silver paint scheme that I personally find very attractive.
What a nice looking model, but sad that they put the whistle on the wrong place. The whistle is now next to the chimney and not in front of the safety valves
The bachmann model is pretty poor right out of the box in more ways than one. I have three that Ive modified, I have 3 BLI GS-4s (one of the 1st gen and 2 new ones) and 2 MTH GS-4s. This new Broadway limited is better by a mile that any of my previous models, smoother, sounds better, looks better and has GREAT pulling power.
I just got a Bachmann J and just returned it, very poor running binding on the 22inch turns which it says it can take and derails on switches. Ordered this to replace it
@@DietPizza1 I actually "re-worked" a new pair of Bachmann GS models by removing the flange on one driver and adding weight under the boiler and to the front pilot. No more derailing and decent pulling power. I also installed Soundtraxx Steam 2 decoders and Scale SOund speakers.
They definitely upped the sound quality on this one! Great video!
Thanks!
what type decoder?

That's awesome! We were on the fence about which paint scheme to get!

This is accurate for as built condition before the modifications during the American Freedom Train.
Great video; just subscribed.
Thank you and appreciate the sub!!
I just got the American Freedom Train version today.
Exciting!
Fun fact: turning on f22 and then hitting f2 again will sound the airhorn
Nice I didn't know that!
what type decoder? smoke generator?
It is a BLI Paragon 4 with their smoke unit.
I wonder how this compares to the Bachmann version
We actually haven't had the Bachmann model yet, but I have seen them at a lot of train shows!
Much better… Bachman hasn’t updated theirs in over 20 years.
