Also you know the old saying "people on the internet will treat fictional characters as if they real people and then talk about real people as if they were fictional and then get mad at you for knowing the difference"
That was also the argument of a greek philosopher (don't remember which one) against democracy. A Reddit mod have a voice worth as much as a hard-working educated person for some reason, and the masses tend to listen to the first one because he is louder. PS: not saying I'm against democracy btw
The Jocat controversy is straight-up evil for what those people did. He went back on Twitter and started doing art, and yet people still hate him and threaten him. All for basically saying "I love all women."
All this is barely a scab wound tbh. People back then would post fake tutorials on how to make beautiful home decorations, but ended up being tutorials of making mustard gas. By the time the information got passed that this was dangerous and false information, people had already been injured / killed for making it without any protection gear. My mom used to always warn me to never interact with random people online, as they could be a degenerate insane weirdo. And upon the day I turned 18 and started actually exploring the internet(I had only used it to watch horror games on UA-cam up until that point), I can safely say... ... She was right all along. I have never felt prouder to be some slightly functional shut-in that very rarely interacts with people, especially those online.

Truly I’m terrified for the future of kids growing in this internet climate. Like for people who are older like us it’s easier to tell when something is taken out of context and just plainly wrong, but for kids most of the time it’s just not the case and they’re quick to follow whichever group is the loudest, which sadly leads to controversies like the Zamii or the Scaramouche one.
That is why parents must watch over the kids. But for me problem is: there was a grown ass peoples over 30 who does that and do stuff, like what kids is doing
@@legioneras4576Yeah, you gotta remember for these kids to have grown with this content, there were already older people making it. As someone who grew up on the internet, you either end up kinda ok, really fucked up or just stay profoundly ignorant. Either way, you end up constantly overwhelmed and with more shit in your head than you have time to process. People will claim it's the parents jobs to supervise what their kids watch on the internet, but to me that's just plainly wrong. These platforms are made to constantly barrage you with outrageous stuff, it's the logical consequence of an attention-seeking algorithm, what catches people's attention? Outrage. Both adults and kids alike are being fed this shit nonstop, and who's to say the parents are to trust? Isn't it a recurring topic how out of touch older generations are? Weren't they the ones that passed all this hate down to us? They were, after all, the first ones to use the internet. What we see today is just the extreme of what was already planted beforehand. I certainly know I didn't trust my parents, and I was right to do so, if I depended on them I would just end up as their ignorant little doll. I had quite an extreme misogynistic phase, but if it was for my parents I wouldn't even be allowed to figure it out and grow, I would just stay silently misogynistic and not think about it. These aren't individual problems of individual parents not caring for their kids. It's a systemic one, our whole society is built on hatred and the whole internet survives off of profiting off that hatred. Parents just want to close their kids eyes and keep them ignorant so only their biases are passed onto them, while the internet just wants to overwhelm them with more and more horrible shit so can they can profit off of it. What kids need is a safe space for them to develop their own ideas, taking inspiration off many different perspectives while being reminded to keep a critical outlook. But that place doesn't exist. So, kids are just left to wander the digital wasteland all on their own, with only luck and the hope that they had and find some positive influences that don't radicalize them into some horrible shit.
@@scug1997 You know, a great point. Kids should have there own "kindergarden" of internet. But mostly true. You right about parents, I as myself hid a lot of secrets from parents, and don't want to show them even now. Maybe it's my thing, but in internet you either, try to understand with your kid what is going on around him and try to teach him, how to think by himself, so that way he wouldn't get into a scam and, for the god sake, some sort of cult, or supervise them. Should parents supervise there kids? Hard to say in 2024. No? Yes? This question for me was so hard to answer, that need more a full scientific psychology work, rather then a random comment guys. Answer lies somewhere in between, and people don't like that. Parents should be interested in what kids is doing, but don't need to full control and obliterate there personal space
@@legioneras4576 Exactly, a parent should be someone the kid can rely on to help them THROUGH whatever they may encounter, not someone to control them, neither completely neglect them
Don't worry there won't be that many kids to begin with, all that's left is to make sure the few kids we do have around cant access the internet till they're of age.
I’m one of those people who doesn’t like penguinz0, but not because of anything he did, his content just doesn’t appeal to me, and I just don’t like how everyone inserts his name into everything like he’s this messianic figure. the vellmori situation sucks but theres one shining light in the end - shes been posting art on her instagram and has opened up a patreon where she takes commissions, which is refreshing to see she didnt just vanish off the face of the internet because of what happened
The JoCat situation was truly upsetting and the primary reason why I dipped from Twitter. At any given moment, anything you say can offend someone even if its not meant to be offensive. He was especially loved in the Final Fantasy XIV community though I didn't learn about the situation until late 2023. There were obviously Twitter freaks going around in videos talking about the situation justifying the doxxing and threats by saying "well, he played Hogwarts Legacy." My brother in christ, he's allowed to enjoy the world of Harry Potter while not liking J.K. Rowling
@@cosmicspacething3474 Don't know if you'd personally consider it "decent", but frankly the fact of the matter is that while JoCat _did_ justify and deflect from the harassment against Pikamee, it in under no circumstances justified his own harassment and doxxing. Some people like to try and pin blame on people who brought that point up, but it was almost always brought up with condemning the attackers' actions inherent to it.

I feel like this may be the best video I've seen at expressing why the internet tends to give me anxiety nowadays. Like, I feel like I'm constantly in a state of wondering whether any random thing I say or do will be used as "proof" that I do or believe things I actually find quite horrible and because of that I feel more closed off and paranoid than I used to. Autism and Anxiety really ain't doin me any favors in this world. Also thank you for taking the time to say that not everyone in a fandom is toxic. I've seen a lot of people say stuff like "well this person likes this thing, so they must be an asshole", which ironically contributes to the problems I have with the internet.
i srsly agree with nd relate to you i kinda have a similar situation: i keep having this constant paranoia of someone just randomly finding something stupid i said back in 2018 and just make that "evidence" to why im a bad person or some shit i keep trying to remind myself that the past is past and i've changed since then but i still feel so scared. digital footprint has scarred me
That's why I deleted my Twitter, Reddit account, and Facebook account. And the reason why I prefer talking to people physically. Texting gives poor understanding to humans because Humans ARENT designed, for that....
I feel you, i feel like im paranoid in real life, and on here.. in real life i constantly was overthinking everything i said because i knew my classmates hated me and didnt liem me for no reason, always annoying me. On the internet im also cautious because ive had to deal with shit before, and i still deal shit today (there is another comment i made which is tldr some adult accused me of being something horrible because of something i liked in a game, that horrible thing being a predator when i am a literal kid) it feels like you arent free anymore, and everyone usually wants to hurt you. Hope seems so hard to maintain, and you become very cynical, but im trying my best to keep on going, as i cant let any of the bad things ive seen and been in slide.
i agree with you and i also have autism so i rarely said or post anything and first time i try to post something i got hated on and this one person try to look every little bit nooks and crannies like this for a example "you said i not we so that mean you not team player" that not what he said but he try to find even small details serve no purpose and still mean same thing but he turn it into i a bad guy and other people start asking me what my username is so they can avoid me in game like bruh ( the post i make is i accident pick up my teammate weapons and he kill me to get it for no reasons just ask me to drop it and at the end i accident kill him and i got kick out of the game) i said in the post i accident kill him but people still think i a bad guy and want to avoid me, anyone make mistake so really annoyed and mad at this like come on i met some one have over 200 team kills but he a great team mate and he did make some mistake but not the ones get mad over it and rage at. i happy someone made this video and i understand why you dont want to say or post anything, i also really paranoid and almost all the time
The scaramouche drama was so much bullshit. To get upset over a fictional character, i will never understand what the fuck goes through peoples mind over shit like that.

The worst part of online toxicity. Is when you stand against them... it's to stoop down to their level. It's easy to BECOME toxic online. I have had a realization of it sort of. And your perfect ~hot voice~ keeping it cool while telling people to go out.. get help.. instead of threatening them back. Really makes me wanna be better about holding my self back better and not stoop down to the toxicity more often than i am ashamed to accept i have stooped to.
That's why I always say that we are having a crisis in humanity, in which we are increasingly unlearning how to be kind. And when I say "kind", I'm not saying to us be all pathologically affectionate to the point of throwing away our self-respect. What I want to say is that we should at least take a deep breath and not wait for everyone to threaten you and cause you endless pain. I know: human beings can be difficult creatures to deal with. They can exhaust your patience and even insult you. What I advocate is that we at least think twice before adopting this "shoot first, ask questions later" mentality by default when someone talks to you... And above all, know how to recognize when you have a short temper and try to aks for help if this behaiviour is so frequent that's crippling. It's hard for our ego to accept that you may have problems that make you unpleasant, but self-awareness should be vital for all of us.
same ive found myself being too involved in groups and fandoms and get angry and upset the way the toxic people were at firs. now ive stopped using social media and man my head is always so cool. i feel like i've gone back to my always calm and happy self and also more patient and willing to see things and observe for longer before thinking anything
I miss my 2008 Internet, if you remembered 3 simple ruls: 1) everyone's a jackass 2) they're most likely trolling so don't take anything seriously and 3) this is not real life - you could have a lot of fun with it.
The funny thing about the JoCat situation is, its based on an already existing song, just with the genders swapped. I remember seeing a shit load of memes with it, and noone ever got hate for it, as far as i know.
Dude simped hard for the LGBT community and so they decided to dox him when they found out he was straight. I don't really want to victim blame especially when the community is vile, but he was warned much earlier.
Finally someone talked about this issues thank you. I want to add another topic to this list of horrible situations. Brad Taste In Music, a music review youtuber, very recently got a unjustified copyright strike that removes all of his monetization. And his whole livelihood is from youtube. He posted a video about this issue and got very emotional in the video. In the comments section of that video Melanie Martinez fans are making fun of him and saying things like "Thats what you get for badmouthing melanie" or "womp womp" and similar things only because he criticized her in the past. A person just lost their entire livelihood and people are mocking them only because they criticized their favorite artist.
It's unfortunate that this is now the modern internet that we have to deal with. People freaking out over the most nonchalant things. People getting wronged and hated over the smallest things. I can't really describe it without sounding like an idiot but i wish people were less sensitive over some topics that brings little to no harm for people other than your own belief that it is a bad thing when it never was. I wish one day we can just chill out for once and not overreact every single day. But that's a tall order especially for most people nowadays.
People always mock anyone who says "people are too sensitive now", but just clowning on that argument doesn't nullify it, it's just being dismissive cause you don't like that it applies to you. People ARE too sensitive and reactive now. You think Kwite or Jenna Marbles got chased offline cause people nowadays have thick skin?
I blame the tumblr exodus. Tumblr was the origin point for all this type of behavior, popularizing it and allowing to run rampant for years is what lead to the state we are in. This type of stuff used to only be contained in that place. but it has unfortunately taken control of the internet.
I know this kinda irrelevant, but I meant some different youtuber not Kwite, I meant the "I like girls" one. Just felt like I needed to amend that for clarity's sake.

Thing is, I don’t think that the crowd that went after Zamii for making that drawing cares about real context or even constructive criticism. It tends to get ignored and substituted in favour of what it gets in the way of: target practice. The artist and her work simply happened to be in reach. Not knowing when some internet strangers might pull stunts like this just because some of them feel like it while the rest simply follow a mop menth aa lityy is royally messy.
Honestly a really great video on controversies and the butterfly effect of how some discontent among communities can cause a ridiculous amount of outrage. Looking at you, Limbus Summer situation. Its a shame that in the end of the day it was completely useless and that people still wage online conflicts over something that has ended over almost a year ago. If I’m being honest, sometimes I feel just tired of all the controversies and I just wanna hug people. I felt horrible for Dino Dave after everything he got, despite not agreeing with almost everything he said in his infamous review video, I felt my heart sink seeing the whole vellmori situation unfold. I also had no idea of extent to which you got harassement from the community for such small things. I just… wanna hug every single one of you. As childish as it may sound. I am a grown ass man now with a car to pay and a full-time job to get soon after I end my four-year college degree, yet I feel saddened by people of all ages fighting for meaningless “victories”. Before I end this goalless text drawn by my still beating child’s heart, I want to say that I feel happy that despite all of the negativity, we can still be positive among each other in return. In a world where I, as a new young adult with still much promise, see people fight and tear each other’s throats, seeing genuinely good people uphold messages of kindness and sincerity, truly, helps me realize that despite the depression that follows me still, I can keep going for myself and those around me. Isn’t those kind of stories the reason why many of us love the stories that project moon give us? Saying what flows freely to my mind, for once not veiled by me and my younger peers’s cynical view of the world is immensely more valuable and liberating than any arguing has ever done to me. I was born in 2006 so I didn't get to experience the true "old" internet that much, but even back in ~2016 the internet was so much better. Yes there was a lot of drama but it never got anywhere near the level of today. There's also the fact that the internet has been replacing the real world more and more, and I think it started around 2016 too, people were just having fun online before, and now everything is a mine field...
It's always been this sort of bad, it's just that the internet is more mainstream so more people are using it and all the stuff is just happening at a larger scale. I still remember when a guy worked at like the maternity ward of a hospital and he posted pictures of the babies and people told him to put them on their heads and watch them fall over and other weird cruel positions. People on the internet have always been crazy especially when you give them the chance to be.
As someone from 1996, the main difference I see is that, back then, you could differentiate trolls from people who actually meant what they said. There was actually room for civil conversations so much that forums were enjoyable to chat for an hour or two. Now, there is no common sense on what's acceptable, people have become unstable and incapable of tolerance. The narcissism is at an all time high and everyone believes themselves justified to be aggressive. Harsh topics were easy to avoid, now everyone wants to know your opinion on x and y before judging you... I've stressed out over such petty things because I'm way too sensitive over language that reaches an unacceptable level of distasteful disrespect or foolish behavior.... In the end, I just accepted being a hermit and try to avoid commenting anywhere...
I really like how you handled the Vellmori situation, and the massive bundle of missinfo mixed with with half truths mixed with bold faced lies made it a nightmare vortex to figure out a semi coherent timeline of events..

Heya, im an NSFW artist online so i can definitely attest to how absolutely mentally ill some people can be when approaching things i do online. If theres a few things ive realised along the lines of my work is that you should never be online if youre emotionally unstable AND that you learn to understand that what people are like online is A VERY black-and-white perception of what a person really is. The whole issue i feel people online have is how absolutely entitled they feel to many things which gives them this influence they think they have when there is none. People have gotten so comfortable assuming things about others and BELIEVING A NARRATIVE in their head that has no merit to it and blatantly post shit about it because they're not emotionally mature enough to process and validate their own logic. The fact that some people they dont like exists is enough to send them into a fit is concerning but of course you cant speak out about this because to remind people of inadequacy is to be marked with death online. Ngl im gonna have to disagree with the Bridget section mostly because of how you brought up ONE side of the situation when both sides were absolutely awful. My name gives it away im absolutely biased but i never hated the change, i disagreed with it because if youve played the games bridget has never once portrayed insecurity about their gender so the change was giving the takeaway that being fickle and giving into impulsive thoughts are good and i voiced my opinion and promptly had my existence invalidated by people who claim to be inclusive and progressive. I was called a sex joke, a fetish and phobic FOR DISAGREEING with change that made no sense (also it was very obvious that daisuke is pretty much spineless and definitely milked the fuck out of the situation. Bridgets dlc is priced higher than the rest of the cast on the psn store and was used in every damned piece of promotional material.) the "RIGHT" side here id argue has been more toxic and hateful then the "WRONG" Side. Of course.. Being transphobic aint cool and people definitely used this as an excuse to be just that. At the end of the day people will treat the life of this fictional character with much more value than my own simply because it lines up with their agendas and if you dare speak out you are to be burned at the stake. And this is one out of HUNDREDS of incidents. I have been called slurs and buzzwords aplenty just for drawing smut and have been threatened with death by people who deem to be GOOD. a character that was absolutely vital to my growth as a person being turned into a zone to be captured by mentally ill people in both sides of the situation. Hell at least the only thing the side that disagreed with is make up some really lame bs about mistranslations. The ones that loved the change have been some of the most vile behaviours ive seen come out of a person, the death threats, the rudeness the way they wave this damned character on a stick because theyre worth more points then actual well written trans characters in video games. All for what? Validation? Reassurance? But let that sink in. People have become so comfortable in just deciding what you are without YOUR INPUT. People dont want to fix things and be good. They want to push you into a corner and bully the fuck out of you because you arent allowed to exist outside their worldview. When literally all that i am is someone that likes drawing. Life hard but Tiddy is soft. Theres no ulterior motive, theres no deeper meaning. But these people reached, grabbed onto the most plausible branch and without even thinking, stabbed it into my eye. Fuck. The Internet. On. GOD.
Yep, its why i never want to really comment/reply on anything. Seeing the type of things people say or how they react to certain stuff really makes me confused. People get **EXTREMELY** pressed over the smallest details and they will continue to be assholes about it because there is a group of people that also agree with them. Ah yep, this video is indeed gonna be a fun one But in all seriousness this is does need to be talked about cause man is it depressing to see the internet to be the way that it is
Genuinely, the Vellmori situation is really depressing given how it was blown out of proportion from just misinformation alone started by a campaign of people who had nothing else to do but to complain something that was ultimately a non-issue (And seriously, who the fuck would wear a swimsuit in a fucking garbage DUMP? Seriously, they must've had illiteracy to the extreme, truly.) Sure, Ishmael did at the time get a lot of identities at the time, and as a day one player I can totally understand the frustration at the time, but for these idiots to be literally sifting through Vellmori's stuff is just creepy as hell and physically threatening Project Moon's workers, was just insane. Could Project Moon have more clear with their statements? Definitely. Was all of this drama necessary? Hell no.
I will say I do think PM could have at least done a better job making preparations and protections (even if it’s limited) for their employees. But they could have handled the entire situation a lot better.
@@2265Hello Yea, but that was frankly a result of them being a indie studio who had not quite adjusted to the growth of their games. Like Tsunul said Limbus was almost 5 times as popular that is hard to adjust your behaviour and make preperations for
PM couldn't have have more clear with their statements because VM herself literally requested them to lie about what happened in hopes that it'll cause less harassment.
Its been said before, but people have gotten too comfortable with saying offensive or insulting remarks on the internet without the fear of getting decked in the face. Most of the things I see people spout on Twitter just for shits and giggles is so downright insulting and embarrassing that I would want avoid being seen in public if I ever said these things to another human being in person. People have no shame now.
@@mrscruffles801 brother read the room, most of this video is Tsunul listing how people were either unreasonably sending death or trying to push others to suicide over minor opinions or not bothering to look up facts.
Empathy has been forgotten for too long We and everyone needs to do something tbh, we cant just continue to look at this all the time, we have to take action to actually make a better place
Not really surprising. If you have a group of thousands of people, you're bound to have some unhinged individuals. Now add to this internet echo chambers and how people are likely to only see the most extreme examples from their opposition. Oh yeah and let's not forget facebook finding that outrage is a reliable way to keep people on their site. Thus tweaking their algorithm to supply more and more outrage.
Any interaction with a Hoyo community is asking for death threats. Near Genshin launch I remember complimenting an artist on their "rare pair" that I'd never seen before because I noticed they weren't really getting many positive comments. I didn't even comment on the pairing itself, but only encouraged the artist. I still got some quite surprising comments myself about how I shouldn't spread positivity about a non-canon pairing and the official pairing for one of the characters was F/F (its only official in fandom. Then they got even more negative, but I'll let you guess what happened. I just stopped commenting on Hoyo stuff after that.
as someone who grew up with internet, I hate internet culture, especially fandoms. I am so disappointed that so many people become the worst version of themselves over completely irrelevant stuff because of the way the internet have been for the past decade or two thank you for this video I genually hope that it'll help some people
I blame the tumblr exodus for it. Tumblr culture being mainstream on the internet has ruined it. I hate how popular fandom culture has gotten because it has normalized this type of culture. Its really bad in the fnaf community. its why so much drama happens. When you mix ideology, degeneracy and mental illness into one batch this is what you get.
Good thing I grew up with the internet, this hasn’t even happened before and then here we are in this situation. People are dumb in a way without common sense is makes me sad
Some ideologies and religion are inherently anti- peace. As long as there are people who want to conquer the world, as long as good people refuse to gatekeep and stand up for themselves then there will never be peace.
"Live and let live" has been what I've been living after for years. Doesn't work as good when so many seem to be the complete opposite though. It just kinda baffles me when people are so concerned about what other people do.
We are tribal by nature. The problem is that we let the woke tribe gain power. That is one of several tribes you dont let live. Other tribe caused ww2.
I have to thank you for this video. The Vellmori situation really did affect me mentally very badly, during the time of the announcement of the korean text i saw it in a friend discord server, i couldnt believe it that a company i loved so much had done such a thing, my literal first reaction to that was "wait did Vellmori quit or something?"then i saw all the massive ammounts of comments and tweets discussing about how she was fired and shit, i didnt choose to believe that simply cause Project moon honestly had changed my entire life and made my carrier and dream of being an artist actually possible and the year i spent drawing bongbong was life changing to me. During the drama i remained skeptical about if everything going on was actually true or not, choosing to remain possitive of Project moon somehow managing to do the right thing. During that time it was so painful to remain hopeful, to still having trust that Project moon would not fuck it up, it was so painful seeing friends and artists i looked upon just quit drawing project moon, it was so despairing seeing friends go from chatting with them about the project moon universe happily and chill to constant very long arguing over me still enjoying the game and having to withstand me wanting to still enjoy the game, seeing it constantly critized, constantly mocked and laughed up as if project moon's games where never good dispite the same people having been pm fans before. And after the situation with Vellmori resolved and it was revealed she quitted? i had to fucking face that according to some people even those i respected they didnt believe she quitted but rather "project moon forced her to quit to save their public image"(which if that had been the case that would have been the first ever response by pm and not one that came literal months later and leaked by the User association and not project moon themselfs), twisting the narrative to its last extents so to excuse still hating on project moon. To this day this is the case of refusing to trust any official statements or anything at all, and im honestly clueless on how to feel if angry for their dismissive attitude or worried and try better at helping them see the missinformation. Now another thing i wanted to comment that i feel too is very fitting for this video is the Mili/Casey situation with Project moon, the lead guitarrist that plays for Mili made some vague tweets in the same day the controversy happened about how "people shouldnt jump to conclusions so soon", so basically a very vague series of tweets that hinted at defending project moon, well people rapidly either dismissed it as untrue or that somehow the guitarist was a bad person and a missfit in Mili's band. Then when Casey herself defended project moon she got massively harrassed and dubbed as a Misoginist and a bad pro-capitalist corporation defender that hates individual workers, Im not fucking kidding, dispite most of Casey's songs being quite against corporations or employee abuse. When that wasnt enough they just resorted to dig into her past to find a valid reason to dismiss her positive opinion on pm and hate her and that there was no way Project moon could have been a good company ever(dispite the fact that Mili made an entire song as a love letter for pm for how much they enjoyed working with them). And had to see people who had loved Mili's songs for years just go from one day to another call her and the band as horrible shitty people. As a final words on this comment, i have to thank you for this video as this topic was one that was haunting me and one i even was considering making a video myself about it too since i was so tired of seeing the missinformation about Vellmori and Project moon still go around. (also sorry for the wall of text comment.)
@ryominto If I recall correctly, Cassie tweeted about her being in the Tgs for limbus and a random dude calling her out for "being in the side with PJM." A little while late she called him out ( There was a mini drama of people calling her the worst and after that she just comtinued with her life, it wasn't something super big but seeing that Mili continued working with pm cleared all my doubts
@@YukoHayase-sr8cb god, I really knew nothing about the scale of this conflict. When it's all occurred, I wasn't even paying attention like "again some twitter/asian stuff, PM will be good, nothing too serious, continue playing", and this video made me shocked, to say the least
Cassie wei is such a baller. She said Kim made a mistake and said she wasn't going to betray her lifetime friend and colleague. People who hate her can only dream of having a friend like her.
I always get worried about being cancelled. There are a lot of people who will hate me because of wild things, it has spread, to not just the internet, but the physical world. People will call me "Timmy" for being disabled, they'll call me a manchild because I still play Minecraft. They'll call me gay, for complementing a man for his looks. (I'm Bisexual aswell) Circling back to the state of the internet, There are people who will give fake screenshots of discord DMs, making me look bad. (making me look look like a homophobe, transphobe, P-phile etc.) This video did not help me with my worries, sure, but it is something that needs to be said, by AT LEAST SOMEBODY in this world, thank you❤
I'm glad to find someone who can share the worldview of "You can do whatever as long as you're not hurting anyone else." If everyone thought that way, the amount of stupid conflicts that would be avoided is incredible. My experience with the PM fandom has been mixed. A while back i would've said i would just continue to enjoy the content on my own. But recently i met a little group that did me a lot of good creatively, i started writing, making artistic stuff. And all because we enjoy something that is great. All fandoms are complicated, we can only hope and cling to the good parts of it all.
This is genuinely such a good video, and I hope a lot more people get to see it. It's so easy to forget that the most toxic parts of the internet are really small and you did a good job at getting that through. It's nice to hear somebody talk about things rationally when so much of the things people say online is overly eccentric just because that's just... the internet now. But I really appreciate this video.
The Vellmori situation felt like watching a show, we have the protagonist (Project Moon) with everyone against them, and the villain (KGCS) was about to deliver the final blow, then made a fatal mistake that revealed EVERYTHING WAS ALL MISINFORMATION, and Project Moon, while maybe not handling the situation the best possible way, all of it was in good faith and everyone got on their side again. This was all such a wild ride to see.
Honestly Tsunul hit the nail on the head, the internet (through the power of anonymity) has become an echo chamber of hate (mostly social media) which is honestly quite sad, if only the internet could just go back to being a chill relax place again without people riling each other up for funsies because they get a kick out of it
The Jocat situation really annoys me. I wasn't a fan of his content but my friend was and I watched a few videos. The video about girls was genuinely extremely wholesome and at best you can say it's "Cringe" however the fact he got doxxed and harasseed for it was genuinely so horrible it and cases like Valmori, Critical and others genuinely annoys me. Imagine being a adult and being tricked so easily. It's the same story every time. Something small blown out of proportion and then people lie or twist the narrative to make it worse. This video is very well done and perfectly explores how actually easy it is to lie on the internet and get away with it. It's like that scene in dilbert. Only that was a cartoon dog. Not real life people. Edit: fixed a couple typos
The worst part is that the original song was the same stuff, but a girl saying that for boys she liked. And as homophobic as it may sound, if a girl did the same song Jo Cat did, the hate would come only from the side everyone expects it to come.
You're Content's are Great Tsunul, Sorry That some Fandom's are Starting to get On Your Nerves, Thanks for Sharing your Thoughts on the More Loud-side of Project Moon Fan's.
People often associate the word "dystopia" with some higher power stomping on the common folk by making life absolutely miserable. It's steadily becoming one of those words that are often missused. In some cases, people even consider having to go to a low-paying 9-5 shift at Walmart to be "dystopian". Don't get me wrong, I can see how miserable it is to work so hard and be paid so little, I just think that that situation doesn't do the word "dystopia" justice. Now, the constant fear from knowing that at any moment, a faceless mob of strangers can ruin your life over something insiginificant you did or said AND never be held accountable for it? THAT'S a dystopia. And the worst part is, it's not some shadow government nor a mega-corporate entity, it's just a mob of people who have to much time on their hands. Basically what I'm saying is, it's truly horrific how extreme and radicalized people can get when they feel like their actions have no consequences.
The same conditions that force people to have to go to low-paying 9-5 shifts are the very same conditions that give rise to the aforementioned faceless, unaccountable mobs. It's just another consequence of the fundamental flaws at the very roots of how our society and culture are structured.
@@cosmicspacething3474 If someone leaves a kitchen knife on the counter and I decide to use it to threaten someone, is the owner of the knife to blame? Or am I to blame for deliberately using someone else's tool as an accessory to my own, conscious act of malice? I think the mob is still the main offender here by virtue of being the active aggressor and should be treated as such. The absence of rules is a glaring problem, yes, but the mob was the one who decided to violate common decency to spark the flames.

"How can you hate me, when you don't even know me?" - Daryl Davis I feel like, if anything, the state of the Internet is reflective of the state of people in general. They're so miserably lonely that they have to cope with virtual stuff, spread their misery through hate and even then it's just for a small moment of glory where they can go to sleep at night without being aware of how their actions hurt others. Like, the real problem is that these people who start all this terrible shit get to sleep at night without the guilt, or compunction of their actions. How can they hate someone when they don't even know them? What colour do they like? What furniture do they prefer? What's their favourite choice of animal, the mainstream cat? The diligent dog? Some off-road choices like otters? Which games stay in their head as the most memorable? They know nothing, and only ever presume everything. That is sad, and really these phirestarters should be punished for it.
I do agree, it is a dark miserable time, and I don't know when it will ever end. I hope one day it does, and that it will just be history to analyze by future generations far in the future.
Very good video, every fandom has a toxic side, and that toxic side somehow makes the whole fandom look bad. I may not be in Project Moon fandom, but i can totally understand. Everyone should be allowed to enjoy stuff and having their own harmless opinions.
I hope it does get shut down, slowly so that people can find more better ways to stay connected with friends and clean up the internet. Which in turn will help society get better. Hopefully but it's hard to have faith now.
@@shcdemolisher I hope we just don't get information, like information just doesn't spread, like people will have their own small bubbles of knowledge and can live in peace with it, and like hopefully everyone is open enough to new knowledge where when they find different groups of people with different knowledge they try to learn from it instead of barbarically destroying it. The rapid spread of knowledge has just made people act rabid :3
I think the problem with the Bridget/Strive situation was more so the implications that were made deliberately or by accident. Because Bridgets entire story revolved around them escaping the gender identity forced on them (As they were forced by family and friends to be female or be executed, to put it simply), having them come out as trans felt like the message was "Indoctrinating kids to be trans is a good thing and leads to that child being happy in the end". I know people from all walks of life who are fans of Strive, myself included, and even my gay/trans friends thought that the message Arcsys/Daisuke insinuated by doing this was pretty disgusting. I dont think it was meant maliciously by Arcsys but theres no denying it does leave a pretty bitter taste as it spits on the characters development and implies some pretty messed up things. Another thing to point out is other characters such as Testament were basically made non binary and no one had an issue with this as it didnt interfere with their character or imply anything off. I truly believe that if it had been a new character that happened to be trans and didnt imply what was implied with Bridget, I genuinely dont think anyone would of had an issue at all. If a teenager came out as trans but was told by their parents that they would kill the trans person if they did, only for that trans person to go "You're right! I'm happy with what you tell me my gender is!", the trans community would be up in arms and rightfully so, yet they supported this exact same thing with Bridget.
Genuinely upsetting and unfortunate that the thing we use every day is also what creates the most problems in this day and age. Even if am not fully an adult I accepted that the best way to set yourself is to remain in middle ground and not to decide who to be with. Yet now it is also can bring you in fair share of troubles.. Often I keep my ideas and concepts to myself knowing full well that if I'd share something there gonna be someone who gonna dislike it and want to stop it existing with all cost imaginable. I do hope that sooner or later we shall move from that distopia and make internet at least a safe spot to share fictional content without people going out of their way to harm anyone physically, mentally, spirtiually or socially.
It's so sad people don't appreciate tight body suits, that skin that started the whole debacle related to Limbus company was honestly hotter than a swimsuit.
It’s kinda crazy how the least shocking piece of information from the video is Tsunul coming out as bisexual. (congrats though even if we’re not surprised) The entire pm situation was still unclear to me (and thankfully so) so I thought waiting a bit after all the misinformation died down and caught up but I still didn’t know about the definitely not aligned groups trying to slander pm was just so wild to hear about for the first time. Truly a maybe the real internet was the misinformation and drama we had along the way. Peak non-fiction here Tsunul
I consider 99% of internet commenters to be bots. It's not an unlikely theory given the comments I've seen. Even if they're not bots, they're not real people either.
Not the first day tbh Scaramouche is like one of my favourite characters (even have a plush irl of him), I always just find the voicelines funny, the scaracat situation is just ridiculous to say the least The fact that so many people can't separate fiction and reality is so dangerous, could and already did harm real people and in this case, an innocent cat
Thank you for actual research. There's a channel called moon channel that did a video on the vellmori topic but kept painting it that she was fired. The video kept implying that she was fired even comparing it to another incident where another korean company released a statement that their employee is leaving because gender stuff but was actually fired. Even though there's proof showing that vellmori left on her own volition
Moon Channel also tried painting the feminist movement in Korea as noble and oppressed, when anybody with knowledge of what's going on would have quickly pointed to Megalian as the first problem with said feminist movement. He also spun his wheels on irrelevant Korean history in that same video...
@@LoliconSamalik Yeah.. even a lot of Korean feminists [me myself too] will admit that radical feminism shot women in the shoot, and it'skind of the major reason why anti-feminism suddenly got so bad when it wasn;t that bad before.
@@LoliconSamalik No? To me the Moon video was decent. I did get lost a few times but from what I remember he tried to reach the origin of it all by taking the perspective of the woman who would feel justified taking a side in the gender war, he did clarify that while Megalia may have started out of women frustrations it has degenerated into misandry. Later, there was also a section taking the perspective of the man who would find comfort in fiction and games, and how the frustration of societal expectations and those radicalized comments of misandry could lead to cases of men demanding a safe space. He reached a different conclusion on Vellmoris's case because of all the similar drama that occurred in Korea over the past few years ig. But to be honest, I can't say I actually understand about those issues and English is not my first language, so I'm sorry I have something wrong.
The Jocat one is especially egregious, when you consider they got mad at him for essentially one line '...and the shortstacks' Which pertain to shorter(often with dwarfism) adult women. Meanwhile, Lizzo, The creator of the 'I like boys' song Jocat was parodying, says 'itty bitty boys' in the song and apparently everyones fine with THAT but god forbid Jocat try to go with shortstacks.

Probably the most important video on the internet honestly. Shame most people will skip it due to it's length, hell I almost did several times. Really good stuff man, I hope you branch out and make videos on all kinds of things, I don't even like Gacha Games lol.
I'm actually really thankful that this video was produced. When the controversy regarding Project Moon came out, I could never find a clear answer as to what the situation was due to multiple different people saying different things. Mistranslation is one of the biggest offenders to either insinuate or perpetuate controversy between nations. Seeing as how that was a key factor in not just the local controversy, but in the international controversy, is so infuriating. Especially when it's used as a tool to bring together a hate mob. Tsunul said it best at the end of the video. "You have no enemies". Some people on the internet should stop making something out of nothing because they want attention or want something to hate.
Great video, People that treat fictional content as reality are the most insane people and are terminally online. Like you can say you like x character drawing and someone will say that you are the most horrible personne for doing so, it's insane.
That would be like you calling a guy to operate someone with a terminal illness just because they played a doctor in House, Scrubs, or E.R. Guess what will happen to the patient afterwards (spoiler alert: They will DIE).
The big issue is that we as a species were not meant to have this level of connection with other nor are we wired to handle all the internet provides. This leads to hyper niche echo chambers where people tend to become more extreme in their beliefs. And what makes it worse is that most platforms intentionally push user towards this as it drives up engagement. We were meant to eat berries in a cave with at most like 150 other people and now we have access to litteral billions
Hey Tsunul, I'm very thankful for the conclusion you came to in the end. I've seen time and time again people on the internet utilze these terrible actors to completely destroy a fanbases reputation for bags of money I'm certain instead of the very specific disclaimer you gave at the beginning you gave a general broad one, and fed into the hatred, this video will go viral. At the cost of hurting an already hurting community. Thank you for being a moral, upstanding person on here, your message at the end is an extremely unpopular one, I constantly tell people not to generalize, to be introspective, to critically analyze whats happening in a situation, but generalizations are easy, which unfortunately makes it the greatest source of hate in this world. Strawmans aplenty in this constantly burning internet.
This was quite the enjoyable watch. It reminded me why I usually dont interact as much with fandoms anymore. Bigger drama and all the emotional outbursts just make me too sad sometimes. Limbus is not only my return out of "gacha veteran retirement" but also a step back into the fandom interaction for me. It is still disheartening to see what happens sometimes. From people taking stuff way too serious, or recently max0r once again getting some (albeit smaller) heat, just because he posted about using d-heaths boss theme in a video (oh noooo this is gonna ruin the fandom......). If I played during the big controversy, and didnt avoid the game for so long due too gacha, I might just have quit because it pisses me off so much.
Another one that I remember on top of my head that isn't included in the video feels similar to the Bridget Strive controversy is the Yamato from One Piece controversy. Where the character they identified themselves as Oden Kozuki. But Eiichiro Oda made many official evidents that (like one of his artworks with female One Piece characters only included Yamato) Yamato is female. But people on Twitter interpret Yamato identifying herself as someone else (Oden Kozuki) means you're also that gender, hence Twitter interpret Yamato is trans. Even though Oda confirmed Yamato is female. Twitter mobs calling out death threats on Oda because they can't face the fact that Yamato isn't trans and is female.

People will seriously see six sentences and be like "damn, that's a lotta words lmao" TL;DR - people see few words and think too many TL:DR TL;DR:: people not read good
i appreciate those like you who try and speak reason amidst all the hate. i play a lot of these games, but have never thought to become radicalized because one of my favorite characters isn't showing her ass nor have i tried to kill somebody because they were drawn different than the source material. i am quietly content in just playing a game and moving on when i'm done. i'm sure there are many more like me. but more and more i feel like i'm the one being punished for simply playing a game when everyone else wants to push politics. i will never understand the level of hate some people will feel over something so inconsequential.
A lot of this is because many of these people view what they consume as their only and most sacred identity, almost elevating it to a kind of religion... Which speaks volumes to the state of emptiness of purpose and unity in general. Limbus was a satire, but people is distorting like in the game.

How ironic that a big part of the vellmori incident was because of an error in translation. Or another words project Moon fans not being able to read.
After Limbus swimsuit incident I understood that just gacha community in general has the most unhinged fanbase. Not saying that they all like that, but, I would argue that precentage of degenerates in gacha community is above all other gaming communities.

@@qqyyy7739 That's exactly my issue, it's become mainstream.

Tsunul now: "So maybe I'm a lil gay..."
(In case it wasn't clear I think this is a wonderful development it is my favorite)
One thing that i learn is we are not gay. we are just attracted to guys
And when I do decide to comment, with the amount of shit ive seen people say, i really have to be careful not to accidentally piss anyone off. Its like walking through an active landmine field
and sometimes its best not to engage in anything at all
but of course , scyopaths and bad people exist , so them having renewable anonnymous access to interacting with others is easy venturing for them , but it was realtively niece circomstances where this existed

I didn't even comment on the pairing itself, but only encouraged the artist. I still got some quite surprising comments myself about how I shouldn't spread positivity about a non-canon pairing and the official pairing for one of the characters was F/F (its only official in fandom.

I always get worried about being cancelled. There are a lot of people who will hate me because of wild things, it has spread, to not just the internet, but the physical world.

Imagine being a adult and being tricked so easily. It's the same story every time. Something small blown out of proportion and then people lie or twist the narrative to make it worse.

I think the mob is still the main offender here by virtue of being the active aggressor and should be treated as such. The absence of rules is a glaring problem, yes, but the mob was the one who decided to violate common decency to spark the flames.

Its insane that most of these end up boiling down to people hating fictional ships or characters. What a joke

(congrats though even if we’re not surprised)
The entire pm situation was still unclear to me (and thankfully so) so I thought waiting a bit after all the misinformation died down and caught up but I still didn’t know about the definitely not aligned groups trying to slander pm was just so wild to hear about for the first time.
Truly a maybe the real internet was the misinformation and drama we had along the way. Peak non-fiction here Tsunul
Haha, it's so funny, that Meursalt's book is so close to life situations, can't wait for his canto to hit hard.
I consider 99% of internet commenters to be bots. It's not an unlikely theory given the comments I've seen.
Even if they're not bots, they're not real people either.
Not the first day tbh
Scaramouche is like one of my favourite characters (even have a plush irl of him), I always just find the voicelines funny, the scaracat situation is just ridiculous to say the least
The fact that so many people can't separate fiction and reality is so dangerous, could and already did harm real people and in this case, an innocent cat
Now I want to see a Scaramouche cosplayer promoting a local animal shelter on adopting and helping black cats.
@@nicholaslienandjaja1815 it would be adorable and wholesome please 😭
Thank you for actual research.
There's a channel called moon channel that did a video on the vellmori topic but kept painting it that she was fired. The video kept implying that she was fired even comparing it to another incident where another korean company released a statement that their employee is leaving because gender stuff but was actually fired.
Even though there's proof showing that vellmori left on her own volition
I still wonder how it was in the end. I just hope it is more of a learning experience for the PMoon of today, than it is a dark shadow in the past
@@donvitopatata i also hope Vellmori is doing fine after that heap of mess
All this harassment and hate must really be really tiring to deal with
Moon Channel also tried painting the feminist movement in Korea as noble and oppressed, when anybody with knowledge of what's going on would have quickly pointed to Megalian as the first problem with said feminist movement.
Man i miss Vellmoris art in Limbus.
Some of her cutscene artworks were the funniest and most memorable ones in the entire game so far.
Seriously dude you're so underrated man. Im not even saw this vids as just another ramble. I've learned so much and after I finish the vids. I'm actually relieved of what I am as a human being.
Thank you MrTsunul. Much love from your kind viewer
Great video,
People that treat fictional content as reality are the most insane people and are terminally online.
A ton of text below!
"Honestly it feels like the only way not to be hated on the internet is to be the most boring person imaginable"
Honestly, bro just read my personality like if it was an open book lol, and talking about your points on this video about PM... You made yourself pretty clear, and i hope that after this video you will receive more support over hate, you also made me consider actually watching your non PM videos so... Yeah, off to your recent videos i go! Thank you tsunul for being yourself, your limbus videos are pleasure to watch!
That wasn't a ton of text to read at all, so I'm unsure why you wrote that on top.
@@LuznoLindo I wrote that for some people that like writing "I ain't reading allat", just in case cause there's nothing more annoying than them
People will seriously see six sentences and be like "damn, that's a lotta words lmao"
TL;DR - people see few words and think too many
TL:DR TL;DR:: people not read good
I immensely appreciate you an Moony's take on this subject.
i appreciate those like you who try and speak reason amidst all the hate.
i play a lot of these games, but have never thought to become radicalized because one of my favorite characters isn't showing her ass nor have i tried to kill somebody because they were drawn different than the source material.
i am quietly content in just playing a game and moving on when i'm done. i'm sure there are many more like me. but more and more i feel like i'm the one being punished for simply playing a game when everyone else wants to push politics.
i will never understand the level of hate some people will feel over something so inconsequential.
TSUNUL WITH THE FOOD THANK YOU SIR‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Tsunul video essay goes hard.
I certainly won't complain if you want to do more videos in this format. :3
Genshin player here. HoYolab is like the Battle of Verdun with D-Day because sometimes, it can be chaotic
A lot of this is because many of these people view what they consume as their only and most sacred identity, almost elevating it to a kind of religion... Which speaks volumes to the state of emptiness of purpose and unity in general. Limbus was a satire, but people is distorting like in the game.
