I agree about the railway, the very best for all out steam action in my opinion. It must have been a lovely day for your daughters wedding as the weather was perfect, if a little chilly at times
Wow! What a show. Lovely little blue engine on the lowmac, and, how gorgeous that the beautiful Scottish Blackface rams didn't even flinch. Wonderful footage, and lovely settings you picked. Well done...again.
@@acw71000 Snicker, giggle, giggle. Gotcha. Yup,Scottish Blackface ,I'm sure. It was the gender I got wrong,I think, because of the lengthy tails. It was lovely how they were taken by your presence, and didn't scarper off,as they usually do when trains pass by so close. It was nice to see the RAF acknowledged for the centenary. Ex Air Force myself so that was noted. Gosh,I love that big, green engine sparkling at 2:37.
Sir, that was absolutely fabulous! As usual you picked the right times, places, weather and locos. To see good old 2857 and T.R. No. 3 again was great. And, to see these hard working machines was marvellous, copping with a couple of dropped joints, must have given a lively ride. You must have had a good few days up at the NYMR. It was like being beside you - more (steam) power to your elbow. Many, many thanks. Delboy (W&L).
Thanks very much Del. Couldn't have wished for better conditions over the two days I spent there. I always look forward to visiting the NYMR as it never disappoints
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. Bruce Springsteen did sing a song called '57 channels and nothing on'! Now we have a lot more channels than 57 and it's still mostly rubbish!
Well Austin, what a marvellous video! 'Trains from Everywhere', and you chose the right locations to ensure that they were all working hard. And the weather was on your side too. What more could we ask? Bravo. Noel
This must be one of the best videos of the Gala. Great camera work and excellent selection of locations to view the engines working hard. I enjoyed two days and your video has brought it all back.
Absolutely superb video and audio, Austin. It's hard to describe how much pleasure is derived from watching this! Very difficult to pick a favourite sequence, but mine would be your long panning shot of 63395 and 65894. The inclusion of the narrow gauge loco on the goods train(s) was a delightful touch by NYMR. Kind regards, Bob.
Well done, Austin! You showed the beginnings of Autumn very well and chose some excellent locations. 92 Squadron looked amazing. I would guess it had recently been outshopped in new livery. I watched this video on holiday in Axarquia, Spain!
Lucky you, in that (hopefully) warm sunshine! It was great to see 34092 for the first time, she looks stunning in that livery. Many thanks for watching
Most Excellent Footage Sir! Thanks for posting this. Having watched the whole thing several times, I'm guessing that the NYMR will have a busy PWay team in the closed season, some the track looks dire in places. I don't doubt it's safe but watching that Bulleid climbing at 1.43 does look like its time to pack and tamp!
Superb video Austin. What a fantastic gala there. It’s a great heritage railway that tests the steam engines. Wonderful selection of locations. All action packed. Really enjoyable watching. Kind regards C&A
It is funny to think that some folks just don't get it when it comes to appreciating hard-slogging steam locomotive. Thank goodness we are not amongst them eh? Wonderful images that do plenty of talking just by themselves. Richard Trevithick, look what you started...and it isn't finished yet!
What great stuff! You picked your spots well to get the best of the 1 in 49 climb! Hopefully I'll get to revisit the NYMR next year at this time. My visit in August was one day only - way too short!! Oh, and the Battle of Britain in malachite green on Teaks looks surprisingly good!!!
Thanks very much. I have my favourite spots on the line which have worked for me in the past and it's always good to return to the NYMR. Hope you can make it there next year, you won't be disappointed
Thank you. Wish I knew who number 5000 was. I had 4997 yesterday and have not received any notifications from UA-cam about any new ones which is strange
Absolutely cracking video Austin, really like the loco combination at 6:09. Some nice locations used and 5428 looks great in LMS. Will you be at the ELR for there gala? Regards James
I'm utterly mesmerised by your footage! Truly astounding quality of videography here. Might I ask as to what your gear consists of specifically your video camera and your tripod. This is the level of quality to which I aspire!
It was on every goods train! As the railway had two locos celebrating their centenaries and Douglas is currently wearing it's RAF blue lievry to celebrate one hundred years of the RAF it seemed an appropriate visitor
As someone who is used to American steam engines, it is incredibly odd hearing a six beat chuff cadence per wheel revolution on the #34081 instead of the four per revolution American engines do.
the turane sp, is terrible. They say, in America, that for every one steam engine , there was another being rebuilt . in this country, it's more like for every two, or more,,,,,, to one. great video
Hello Austin, either you have a footage stuff to final film ratio of 100 to 1 (like really great movies) or the video was already done in your brain before you recorded. I've no other explanation... - Heinz
Great video, enjoyed it immensely.......34081 with no trace of a slip, the “schools” outshining the black five.......926 looks really odd without her smoke deflectors though.....and the trackwork looks exceedingly dodgy, the loco’s were bouncing all over the place!
My Daughter was married here on this day, it was FABULOUS.
The trains are amazing, nothing like it.

Thanks again for your kind comments, I know my railway engines better than my sheep so not too sure what breed they were!

Wonderful ! As usual. Watching your films is a good alternative, in the evening, when there is nothing interesting on the TV.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. Bruce Springsteen did sing a song called '57 channels and nothing on'! Now we have a lot more channels than 57 and it's still mostly rubbish!
Same everywhere, I'm afraid !
That was truly awesome Austin you really pulled the stops out there great photography.
Many thanks, it was a very enjoyable couple of days
Well Austin, what a marvellous video! 'Trains from Everywhere', and you chose the right locations to ensure that they were all working hard. And the weather was on your side too. What more could we ask? Bravo.
Noel
Many thanks Noel. it was a great couple of days at the Moors and I always enjoy seeing locos performing on that 1 in 49
Well filmed, with excellent sound quality too! I think I'll watch it again on the (4K) TV with the big sound system soon...
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video
Beautiful images, thank you for bring them to life on here. Regards, Brian.
Thanks very much Brian, I'm pleased you enjoyed the video
This must be one of the best videos of the Gala. Great camera work and excellent selection of locations to view the engines working hard. I enjoyed two days and your video has brought it all back.
Thank you very much for your kind comments Dave, I'm sure you'll agree it was an excellent gala

Thanks Bob, always look forward to a visit to the NYMR and certainly wasn't disappointed this time.
Nice to see squadron on this lovely railway
It was indeed. A beautifully turned out loco that sounded superb on the NYMR gradients
Superb as always Austin, I loved doing these Autumn Galas up there back in the early nineties ...Always an unforgettable event from the NYMR.
Thanks Bob, it's the gala I most look forward too especially when the weather plays ball
92 Squadron looks more beautiful every time I look at it
I think that livery really stands out, she does look superb
As always Austin another great video of a Gala. Excellent production as usual. Regards, Dave.
Many thanks Dave, as always the Moors put on an excellent event

or even seeing 34081!
Brilliant as ever Austin , stunning from start to finish with the clag at 6-14 standing out somewhat !
Thanks Steve, you are guaranteed clag at the NYMR and for me it's one of the best galas of the year with locos working hard up that 1 in 49.
Most Excellent Footage Sir! Thanks for posting this. Thanks very much for your kind comments. I'm sure that after a busy year the railway will get that track sorted before the new season
Superb video Austin. What a fantastic gala there. It’s a great heritage railway that tests the steam engines. Wonderful selection of locations. All action packed. Really enjoyable watching. Kind regards C&A
Thank you, it is one of the best, if not the best line to catch engines working really hard
It is funny to think that some folks just don't get it when it comes to appreciating hard-slogging steam locomotive. Thank goodness we are not amongst them eh? Wonderful images that do plenty of talking just by themselves. Richard Trevithick, look what you started...and it isn't finished yet!
Thanks Stephen, the Moors is the best line in the country to see and hear locos hard at work, certainly music to my ears!
What a great view at 1:15 ! Light really was just right there. That's a bit of a dipped rail joint there, though.
Thanks, yes the light was good, nearly didn't upload the clip after making a mess of it! It's a tricky spot to reach but well worth it
What great stuff! You picked your spots well to get the best of the 1 in 49 climb! Hopefully I'll get to revisit the NYMR next year at this time. My visit in August was one day only - way too short!! Oh, and the Battle of Britain in malachite green on Teaks looks surprisingly good!!!

Lovely footage there - was very nice meeting you at Water Ark!
Thanks very much. Good to meet you and your friends too. It's good to know that the future of steam is in such very capable hands
Fantastic set of clips. I also enjoyed the gala, although the wind could’ve died down in places! Kind regards. Cameron
Thanks Cameron, it was a cool wind at times especially if you were out of the sun. I hope you managed to get to the spots you were looking for
Wonderful scenes!!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful locomotives, beautiful light and beautiful camerawork and then Duncan on a freight train?
Thanks for watching, a wonderful gala event
That was great. I loved the mixed freight set.
Thanks very much. It was a very good freight I must admit
great video mate like the camera work very nice some great shots 👍😊😊👍👍👍
Cheers, glad you liked it
Fantastic Video, Wish I could have gotten down for the Steam Gala!
-Kyle
Thanks Kyle. It's always a great gala so hope you can make it there sometime
Another superb video Austin.....Best wishes....Steve.
Thanks Steve, much appreciated
I wish I went to that gala, I only live 46 minutes away from Grosmont. It would be great to go on 92 Squadron or the 28xx
That's a shame, you missed a good one. Let's hope there's a gala this year that you can get to
@@acw71000 yes, I’m totally going to the one this year
BEAUTIFUL SCENERY, BUT HARD ON THE LOCOS---MANY THANKS.
Indeed, but a great spectacle
Hello Austin, congratulations to break 5,000 limit of subscribers. - Heinz
Thank you. Wish I knew who number 5000 was. I had 4997 yesterday and have not received any notifications from UA-cam about any new ones which is strange
Excellent film, especially the sequences of 34081. Not that I'm biased. :-)
Of course not, who would dare say such a thing! I loved her performance and that livery looks superb. Many thanks for watching
5428 looks amazing in LMS livery too
Indeed, it's good to see a wide range of liveries in my opinion
I like it when she’s in her BR livery
Absolutely cracking video Austin, really like the loco combination at 6:09. Some nice locations used and 5428 looks great in LMS. Will you be at the ELR for there gala? Regards James
Many thanks James, as usual the NYMR put on a great gala and the good weather certainly helped. I'll probably be at the ELR on one of the days
Austin, at least you had a nice day, loved the video
Many thanks John, very fortunate with some nice weather which makes such a difference for filming
I'm utterly mesmerised by your footage! Truly astounding quality of videography here. Might I ask as to what your gear consists of specifically your video camera and your tripod. This is the level of quality to which I aspire!
Many thanks. The video was shot on a Panasonic VX870 camera and I use a Velbon D700 tripod
Great video.
Thanks Geoff for your kind comments
What was Douglas from the Talyllyn Railway doing on the goods train of the SR Schools class?
It was on every goods train! As the railway had two locos celebrating their centenaries and Douglas is currently wearing it's RAF blue lievry to celebrate one hundred years of the RAF it seemed an appropriate visitor
Very great video, thumbs up :)
Thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed the video
As someone who is used to American steam engines, it is incredibly odd hearing a six beat chuff cadence per wheel revolution on the #34081 instead of the four per revolution American engines do.
Indeed, it's interesting to listen to the different sounds our beloved steam locos make, wherever in the world they are
the turane sp, is terrible. They say, in America, that for every one steam engine , there was another being rebuilt . in this country, it's more like for every two, or more,,,,,, to one. great video

Great video, what kind of camera were you using?
Thank you. Camera was a Panasonic VX870
Hello Austin, either you have a footage stuff to final film ratio of 100 to 1 (like really great movies) or the video was already done in your brain before you recorded. I've no other explanation... - Heinz
Thanks Heinz, I just know the locations I like and hope for the best really.
4:11 Great sound! :-)
Thanks, benefit of turning the microphone volume up a lot!
@1:44: that is one of the worst dipped rail joints I have ever seen! A broken spring must be iminent...
Hopefully they got through the weekend without incident!
Great video, enjoyed it immensely.......34081 with no trace of a slip, the “schools” outshining the black five.......926 looks really odd without her smoke deflectors though.....and the trackwork looks exceedingly dodgy, the loco’s were bouncing all over the place!
Thank you, the track definitely needs some attention but it was an excellent event
