As per usual, a top quality production Austin that showed the best bits of the gala. I don't know how you got so lucky with the sunshine! It was nice seeing you again and to finally meet Pam. Thanks for sharing.
Many thanks Sam, we were lucky on Friday with some spells of sunshine, mostly in between trains but occasionally getting lucky! Good to see you again too, Pam's been showing me some of your photos on Flickr, absolutely superb, keep it up.
Stunning work as always Austin, this is my favourite preserved line, and once again you manage to bring the sunshine along. The track looks very good up there these days, and with the cutting back of foliage, opens the line up to provide better locations...Bob
Many thanks Bob, it's certainly become my favourite too as you know you are guaranteed hard working engines on that 1 in 49. They seem to have done a fair bit of reballasting between Grosmont and Goathland. This is my favourite time of year, before the foliage gets too overgrown
Good to see mr. Riley's 5s being put to productive use, and reunited with one of his former locos. Lovely shots of Sir Nigel at 4:15 and 4:50 particularly. I like the "optical illusion" effect with the people watching it looking almost as big as the train.
I bet he's glad that the Fives went up to the Moors. Apparently they will stay for a while unless the West Coast situation is resolved and they are needed on the Great Britain. That shot at 4:50 of 60007 was very fortunate as we had chased the train from the previous location and just managed to park and get the camera set up quickly. My wife, taking stills, wasn't too pleased with the people who walked into shot but I think it looks ok on video. She's Photoshopped them out now anyway!
Thanks Austin. I love that blue locomotive. Just look at those driving wheels 4:24 I hear that Sir Nigel's boiler license expired in 2015 but surely the society will put him back in service. Is that his original garter blue? We Yanks would call it baby blue.
Thanks for watching. the loco is being overhauled at present so should be back in action soon. The blue is not the LNER's garter blue but a shade that British Railways used in the early days after nationalisation on a number of different locos to compare against red and green to see which one was the most attractive and presumably how well it wore. The blue does suit the A4's though
Superb action video Austin of this wonderful gala.. It's a heritage railway we have yet to visit. Coverage was fantastic especially the Esk Valley clips. Thanks for posting it was enjoyable watching . C&A
Top draw as ever Austin, looks like you and Pam and the weather for the two days you stopped . The Marquess sounded superb but the freight won it for me . Steve
Thanks Steve, the Marquess seems to handle any gradient with ease. I was lucky to catch quite a few of the freights, nice train of wagons they've assembled
Fine video, Austin. You covered the gala well. Shame about the lack of visiting engines, but the homefleet & Riley's five gave a good showing along with the K4. I trust you had a enjoyable trip. Regards, Liam
Cheers Liam, I didn't think it mattered that they couldn't get the visitors in, there was still plenty of action in what was a very pleasant couple of days
Thanks Andrew, good to see you again. The shot of 60007 was taken on Friday afternoon, one of those rare occasions when the sun came out as the train arrived!
Thanks for a most enjoyable video Austin. I always love to see and hear Black 5's hard against the collar. Was the diesel banker there to help us through the mainline withdrawal symptoms? Alan
Thanks Alan, the train with the diesel had operated the afternoon service from Battersby to Whitby and then on to Goathland. They top and tail to save running round at Battersby
A superb video of the Gala Austin. Excellent choice of locations, expertly filmed. Cheers, Dave.
Many thanks Dave, not a bad weekend despite the lack of a big name visitor to the gala, plenty of hard working engines which is what we all like
Truly impressive. You should be very proud of this work. I really enjoyed the montage.
Many thanks John, glad you enjoyed the video
A beautiful Spring Gala, very well filmed from beginning to end. Thank you Austin.

Top notch Austin as usual. The nymr is a stunning line. Regards Andy
Thanks Andy, I don't think the line can be beaten for scenery and loco performances

Really nice, Austin. They do have some cracking good country round there!
Thanks Alan, scenery to die for and hard working steam makes a great combination

Thanks, you really must try to visit, not many lines can beat it for hard working steam
Great video Austin...at least you had some good Weather there ! Cracking variety of locomotives and excellent locations...Cheers....Steve.~.
Thanks very much Steve, yes, we were lucky with the weather, especially on Friday and like the WSR the line is nice and tidy at this time of year

Wonderful video ! many thanks for this moment....have a nice day
Thank you for watching, I'm pleased you enjoyed the video
Thanks Austin
Some really great shots there
Noel
Many thanks Noel, glad you enjoyed it
I really hope that sir Nigel Gresley makes those tours this year because the engine sounds to be in top condition.
Indeed, it's a shame that she hasn't had more mainline work during the course of the current boiler certificate
That was really fantastic.
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it
Very nice Austin, and good to bump into your briefly again yesterday. May I ask what day which day the shot of 60007 at 4:58 was taken on?
Thanks Andrew, good to see you again. The shot of 60007 was taken on Friday afternoon, one of those rare occasions when the sun came out as the train arrived!
absolutely lovely!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it
Wow! What a sight!
Thank you, it's a wonderful line to visit
