One of the sweetest guys I've ever met. I interviewed him in 1994, when he was with the Yankees. Down to earth and incredibly humble. He would stress how his success was due as much to others -- his dad, a high school or college coach, a manager, teammate, etc. -- as it was to his own talent.
He was my hero growing up. I was 9 years old when I saw him at the airport.. ran up and hugged him like he was an uncle. Still treasure the Polaroid picture to this day. He took ten minutes out of his day for me, made me feel like he was just as excited to see me.
as an Angels fan I used to see Jim all the time, he was and still is my favorite Angel player. he was always polite and accommodating when people would ask for autographs and photos. I was shattered when he was traded as well as most of the fans. I don't think there is another player other than Ryan that is more beloved
Personally you can hate the Yankees or not, but I feel like any baseball fan would have to root for this guy and how he pulled off such an accomplishment, despite the adversity he's faced his entire life. This is something you'd definitely see in the movies, truly remarkable moment in baseball.
I watched you play for the Angels when I was probably about 8 years old...32 years ago...and just now looked you up......one of my all time favorite pitchers...as Griffey Jr. my favorite player...both left handed just like me!! 👍
Thank you so much for this video I am actually doing a school Biography on u Jim what a story u have my dad told me about u and i have done so much research on u.

Nice me 2. Loved watching him pitch, he was truly a legend and a darn good pitcher
Yea, that was the card to get!
Is the narrator giving a high school presentation?

Absolutely! Lifelong Rangers fan here, and this is what it’s all about. Absolutely beautiful.

For my self this talent is one and only, I'm remember when he go to Cuba every body says this person is different tremendous talent

Great man. Love him!
The narrator sounds scared to read out loud in class 😭
Quarterback too in h.s wow amazing
washed up qb here: you need two hands to play qb.... bloody legend
I knew it was a conspiracy, 7:10 he has two hands
I felt it in his *hand lol
Baseball god
Incredible!
Might have a copyright issue putting 30 for 30 in the title
Best no hitter ever. Was there and was amazing
JIM ABBOTT #1
Baseball will always be America’s past time
Baseball is dying
Yes sir.
@@smhgaming3259 it'll never die.
Pastime*
Jim, you won't remember me, but I remember you from the CANUSA Games. I fouled one off. That's as close as I got.
Jim Abbot ! 👍🏻👍🏻
Best pitcher of all time Jim abbott
7:29 "inpsire"
This guy is the fucking coolest athlete ever. Imagine
That's my cousin 😊
♥️
Not the actual 30 for 30, he did a voice over of copyrighted documentary. This is probably illegal. Great story though so thumbs up.
Not spelling Abbott right in the purple graphic takes him off the hook.
He should be a HOFer just for what he was able to accomplish, nobody will ever do that again
This audio literally hurts my ears. Other than that good vid.
INSANE feet. He threw a pro no hitter without a hand. Mind boggling. Overlooked honestly.
So what's holding you back?
Did you are so amazing and you're totally one of my heroes you're a super badass
i would love to know what Fidel Castro said to him after that famous game
According to legend it was "NICE"
That guy was safe at 2nd
Philip Cornelius second baseman had his foot on the bag when he caught the ball at 1:01 and moved off to throw to first. He’s out
Rules were different in the 80's and 90's because takeout slides were legal. You witnessed a "neighborhood" out
he was out by a mile. Watch it in slow motion
@@jedidr4918 Foot was off watch it back
Shaquem griffin is today's Jim Abbott. Both are amazingly gifted
imagine if he had two hands, this guy wouldve been a legit GOAT wtf
