I understand why I can't get an NG3 to sound like an NG2 now. NG3 has pickup wired in Serie/Parallel/Serie and the NG2 has both in serie. So bridge and middle on the NG3 and NG2 are way different. Those switch make a tone of difference

might need a new rotartary pickup switch, or re wire your existing one

Okayyyy I understand how you got that "bubble" tone. That is way more clear and define than a NG bass. Is that a DI only ?? ?

Which onboard preamp are you using though? Glockenlang 3 band or Darkglass Tone Capsule? Are those pickups the Dingwalls FD3 or the Super Fatty?
