- Testing your soil is a critical part in fixing an ugly lawn. Without it, you really are guessing. Many local landscape supply stores will have a lab they can send your soil off to, or you can find a local university extension. I've also used Logan Labs, Soil Savvy, and My Soil if you're looking for something to mail a sample to.

Soil haha Lol. There's not much of it, likely solid rock not too far from the surface. Thats why the people before didn't bother with a yard and that your in a forest
That is one of the craziest locations for a home. It looks like something out of Naked and Afraid. I wish you the best of luck trying to grow grass on the forest floor.
I'm guessing that ground is so compact it is going to require mixing heavy amounts of sand in the current dirt or truck loads of top soil brought in to maintain continuous growth.
pretty standard new england home
Smoke it off and plant shade seed. Fine fescue.
Don’t get pulled over w your “sample”bags 😂
First Aussie 😁. Looking forward to your lawn care journey at the new family home. 😎👍👍
Nice to see progress at the new place ..
Idk where to get soil tested or how much to pay etc. Why wasn't that explained?
It's usually around $25-30 per test. Google "lcn soil test" for the Yard Mastery kit. You take a sample and mail it to them. They email you the results in a few days.
You can contact your local agricultural office for a soil test. Find yours here www.gardeningknowhow.com/extension-search/
You can call and ask them about soil testing or they might have info about it on their website. It will be free or cheap.
Hey GD, congrats on the new diggs! Looking forward to the learning during the transformation.
Looking forward to the transformation. Soil test is a great start! Thx GD
Property location looks great. Any soil test is better than none. It is funny how folks debate what soil test to use. 😀
Hey GD, I am from Canada and was wondering if you could expand your website to include you're northern neighbours?
My wife thinks the clay in your soil near the house is left over from excavating when the house it was built. That happens a lot in our area and why so many new homes have poor drainage, lawns and flower beds. The biggest thing we learned is to amend the soil like crazy.
Given all of the trees, keeping a lawn lush will be a challenge. That is a problem for us.
Buy a pump and pump water from the waterway for your lawn. If I had a water source in my back yard I would be using it!
With all those pine needles and moss, I can guarantee your soil is on the acidic side. Do yourself a favor and start dropping in a large amount of lime, or better yet rough the surface up and import in some clean topsoil.
You have a lot of trees and soon to be lots of shade. Get ready for the battle. You will have a hard time seeding your beloved BG.
Looks like a playground for rattlesnakes.
These Area looks like a Walking Dead Area 😂😂😂
Use a university extension for the test always.
Idk tim that's alot of shade ..good luck
Wow happy to hear from you again miss you
Looks like you need some serious aerating.
How many trees will you cut down?
On your other video you use milorganite and epsom salt on your yard to make green . What was the brand. And where did you purchase the product.
I think I got it at CVS pharmacy in the bath salt section
I also have lots of trees and collect rain water for watering my lawn, I think you be pretty successful! Great video and looking forward to future videos and updates! 👍🏼
Your new catch phrase in each video needs to be “wicked .....” in each video. For example @2:44 the “wicked compact soil” . Happy to see you back... we all missed you. 💗
Time to get to work. Interested in seeing the process. May need to call upon the two turf gurus Pete from GCI and Allyn the LCN.
Will be interesting results. The previous owners didn’t do much I suspect.
Welcome back! Love this channel because there is no bias brand promotions like so many other youtubers do.
I usually send my soil test in to my county extension agent for testing, I have also used Purdue university. It will be interesting to see your lawn journey.
Bro I'm so happy you moved because I did too and my yard is ugly now too! Haha
That's a big project. I'm a fan 👍
Congrats on the new house. Should be a lot of fun getting that yard where you want it.
Very cool dude!
