Take care of yourself. You are fortunate your Lyme disease is diagnosed. It is curable, if caught in time.
In my experience aerating the lawn is a great way to reduce or solve compaction issues. Every spring I apply a goodly dose of gypsum. In Houston we have clay soil and it's a good way to keep the the ground softened.
Make a quick update on how the landscape/lawn has come along!
Your new ugly lawn (you said it) will give your channel some content and you a challenge, It will be a bit more of challenge with the shade vs. you former open sunny lawn.

Just found your channel. I live in S Florida, crabgrass galore! Every time I call an "expert" to weed and feed, a lot of weeds die. Some aren't touched....the stickers. Also, I have had a lot of grass die, too. I am going to try to go it alone. I bought Milorganite and was pulling weeds by hand today. I raked some of the dead grass, there is a lot more to go. I am embarrassed and work full time. It's a real struggle.
I would check out Lawn Care Nut, he is in Florida so he would have much better advice
