    This is the perfect time to get a drone fly over of the property to look for greener spots or changes in trees to types that like water as that would signal a spring/seep and it could be closer to the house. Waiting till the driest time of the year to look lets them stand out as everything else will by turning brown and the weeds in the area of a spring will stay green. Don't even need to own a drone just post a job for a drone on Craigslist as it is less then an hours work to get the video from above.

    Build a log tripod over the well; about 20 feet tall.
    Then rig a block and tackle to lift the pipe/digger.

    Oregon grape
    berries are a traditional food for Northwest Native People and were
    often mixed with other sweeter berries like salal and made into pemmican
    cakes. ... The only edible food they knew was Oregon grape berries and they ate them in large quantities.

    The comment section never fails to offer entertainment.
    There’s grammar police, foul language police, fact checkers, trolls etc.
    Now I see folks correcting this guy over a frog. Nope it’s a toad. Not only just a toad but a poisonous toad...lol
    Then there are the berries. Some say edible, some say not edible, some say poisonous some say edible if prepared properly.
    Like I said this section never fails to offer entertainment...lol

    Check the temperature of the water if the water is colder then the outside temperature then it's a Spring

    • @jackmason7823
      @jackmason7823 2 роки тому

      Not necessarily true. You would have to check the water temp against that of a source you know isn't a spring. Water is often cooler than air temp naturally, so comparing like for like would be more accurate.
      That pond is almost certainly not a spring due to the geology around and under it. More likely to be from runoff, and protected due to the clay and the shade afforded by the trees.

    Don't forget to take a day or two of rest if you need it (both of you). As I said, this process is Rocket Science in terms of perseverance, endurance, and learning the skills of the Building Trades. Pace yourselves....I saw on UA-cam this couple collect rain water from the gutters on the roof and send it to a storage tank....I hope you find that "damp spot" for water like Red Poppy Ranch. But, it's possible the water table is also deeper than 18 feet....I believe Pure Living for Life paid $5,700 for a well install at about 80 ft deep. They thought it would be $20,000, but the price depends on the depth of the water table. What's the deal for your neighbors? Where did they find water? I'm rooting for you!

    The only place you will find water is where there is a natural spring underground. To find that you must find someone who can use divining rods. Anyone can dig a hole and you will be digging holes for a long time before you hit where that spring is. Take my advise or not but as far I have seen you have yet to find water.

    I think Google has a place to identify plants, take a picture and see. I think it's water that filled up the hole that someone dug trying to find a spring. That should have been your first concern to be sure you had water somewhere. You need to get a well man to see if he can find a place where you can drill a well and how much. Good luck and fill all holes in before you edit a video called Rescue.

    • @MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving

      We have water about 150’ down easy. Drilling a deep well is an option but expensive. This is a fun adventure. Anyone can call a well driller and have them drill a well. Looking for water and trying things is fun. Besides well drillers are booked up till next season.

    Not an expert but I know you need to keep going deeper with your well until you get past the clay layer and hopefully into water bearing pure sand/gravel. Another thing, you need a casing while drilling to keep the sides from sloughing into the hole! After you have standing water in bottom of hole THEN you can test for flow. I would never use an auger to drill a well. Way too much manual labor! Also, try water witching, it's not that hard. Google it!

    • @colorklimax
      @colorklimax 4 роки тому

      Last year, they dug a well with the casing and all, but water failed to get in. They are only limited to 18 feet max deep so they won't need to secure any gov. permit and seek other professional services (not sure how much, but it's definitely not cheap).
