OMG as a licensed plumber and pipe fitter you made my brain go crazy I wish I was there so I could help you make sense of it all and what law allows, I’ve been told that I’m a rainman of plumbing and numbers.
@@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving I sincerely hope it passes for you. I've been in similar situations and had to improvise my way through it like you did. I saw some humor in the the situation you had. Been there, done that kind of moment.
Jules cracked me up with her Mario brothers comment. I see a plumbing "outtakes" video in the future with Mario Brothers game music soundtrack. Please dont cut your sewer main! Take apart temp outdoor toilet and use inflator to pressure test. The fewer breaks in a sewer main the better.
I am fairly new to your channel and I do enjoy the videos. Your dog reminds me so much of my dog that sadly I lost recently after nearly 13 years with him. Bostons are great dogs and mine stayed playful up until the end and was by far the best dog I ever had. Keep the good videos coming.
Thank you for being a patron. We are planning our first patron only live stream soon. Look for a poll in the Facebook group asking about the best time for everyone.
Martin, check with the inspector. He will probably allow you to present the pressure bulb at the base of the clean out that you installed in this video!.
Looks great !! It really is surprising how light it is in the crawl space. Is that the magic of the g7x ... or is it literally not terribly dark down there?
Hi Martin i asked our engineer about your venting and having looked at your video said you need at least one six inch hole at the base of your concrete walls under your house because its cold and very damp down there he felt even thought you have four large vents at floor level that air will be warmer and rising and may not vent under your house properly ,vent must be screened, paul
Hi Martin, that figure 8 hole should really be covered up. Get a piece of blocking, cut 1 hole where it's supposed to be and nail it to the plate. It will help keep critters from getting in better than foam will. Also secure your deain pipes a little tighter so no shanking and noise between walls when deaining or flushing bud. Looks good otherwise and lots of Kudos for you doing this.
The rubber coupling with hose clamp is a Plumber's secret and works very well. When you get in tight spots, a Plumber said they make every fitting you need, e.g. 30 degree turn pieces, etc. etc. I hope you pass the Inspection. Remember, there is more than one way to "skin the cat." I'm sure there are Plumbers out there with a great solution for hooking up the tub drain/vent, but maybe the Inspector will like your way better.
Hey Martin do you think if you pulled the toilet you could silicone a plug in the toilet flange so it would be removable. Anything thing to avoid cutting the pipe. Or if you do have to cut it put a clean out in if you can
Martin, Prior to backfilling, you should add a drain tile (pipe) around the bottom of you concrete so that water drains away from the foundation and crawl space... Also think about water proofing the concrete.
My suggestion, for what it's worth - For pluming inspection test, pull the commode. 4 in. Gripper Mechanical Plastic Test Plug $6 Home Depot. It's such a limited time to test, why all the concern?
Support for horizontal abs pipe is every 4 foot... The tub vent is fine now... are you air testing five psi or water testing... (Some) codes want a ten foot head of water for the test...An exceptional thread sealer is toilet bowl wax for testing applications... The one thing I see is where you transitioned from 3 to 4 inch pipe, they may want you to use the outside cleanout to handle the pipe size increase. That would be a no-no in my area.
I have an English Bulldog/Boston Terrier who is 9yrs old now. Their diet will not only affect their tummy, but also skin and ear yeast infections. I changed my dog to "Limited Ingredients Diet" from Blue Buffalo. He has been way better.
you are going to need more dirt. The Ford wrench was like you said it is a handed tool but I fix more jet engines with my leatherman when I didn't have the right tool.
painting the floor is a good idea, its too bad you have to wait so long for your trusses. Have you considered "stick framing" your roof? Depending on your local codes you might be able to build your own trusses, but either way you should be able to "stick frame" your roof.
@@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving You have the skills, your work so far has demonstrated that. Trusses are actually easy to build but since you have paid half already, then wait it is.
from what i've seen, you have the talent...and you can learn anything on the internet lol But, if you would be out money then of course you should wait...... couldn't you get your money back?.....Breach of contract on them
Another thing I see is the total change of direction from 3" cleanout to 4" cleanout is more than 135 degrees. He may stick you with that one if its the code in your area. 1/16 bends are your friend in waste pipe design.
So by taking apart the tub/shower drain and plumbing it the way you did, you could have just cut out a section of the pipe and inserted a wye and accomplished the same thing (this is what you were thinking/planning the day before anyways). :)
The piece you are describing to couple the drain pipe back together is called a Furnco. They come in various sizes. You are using way too much Teflon tape. Good luck with the inspection, you should be ok.
I am enjoying watching your videos (i am a gas safe plumber / heating engineer in the UK). i might be looking at this wrong but your subfloor waste and drainage surely should have a constant fall to the outside, however the 3" line going out the building towards the septic tank rises maybe 18" by using a couple of 45 degree elbows. This cant be correct ?
The grain fillers can also be the cause of skin problems. My understanding is that since corn is such a dense carbohydrate, a lot of heat is generated breaking it down and since dogs dont sweat that excess heat comes out as skin irritations or hot spots. Especially in smaller dogs.
The connector you are referring to is called a "fernco fitting". It is not acceptable in most building codes. The problem with this is the connector hardware fails. Intrusion of roots will occur in these location creating blockage in the future. A stainless steel version is available , not at the big orange store. This would be more reliable but still may not pass inspection. The pressure bulb is the way to go, it leaves the very important main drain intact.
The wrench you used as my mind serves me right and I do not know why it is called this but being called a " Monkey wrench." If you have problem next time you are knowing where you want before gluing the stub up.....drill a pilot hole in the middle and that way you know exactly where to to put the hole saw. Was easy for me. Save a lot of time and not guessing...
Horse poop end of mystery no need to ask me why or how I know ..lol Fernco fitting is the rubber, but go for the 4'-6''' rubber playground ball you can then inflate it so then you can put the toilet back in service while waiting plus keep sewer gas out of the build.
Eating dirt means that he is lacking something in his system would be good to just ask a vet what he might be missing or find a site on dog nutrition. You can always put a larger pipe around that septic pipe and fill it with pea gravel to protect it if it has to be lower right???
sorry sir jhon ... according to me the paralon pipe you are installing is not quite right. in my opinion it is better not to pipe too many connections, from the top disposal down it would be nice to immediately decrease without many other connections. the drain from the top of the pipe must be diagonal without a lot of indentations. water from above drops faster
dont use the rubber repair sleeve!!!!!! settlement of the dirt will make the two pipes separate. (imo) I have never seen the drains needing pressure tested since most dwv PVC (white kind) is not rated for a lot of psi due to its foam core design. I have seen the need to pressure test the water supply lines but never the drain. In Maryland they inspect the septic to make sure you at the correct depths with the correct materials (gravel, pipe, etc) then you are allowed to cover the septic up. Good Luck with your inspection.

That was filled on my iPhone XR. But it wasn’t that dark. If it is really dirty or wet we use the phone. The g7x doesn’t play well with dirt. Hahaha
A couple other things to try - Squash or Pumpkin & diatom. earth - These would help your pup!

Just curious, do you put a waterproofing sealant on the outside of the foundation walls before you backfill the three feet of dirt?
Alberta Sigh
It’s required in Washington State. Not sure in Idaho outline areas. I wouldn’t skip it.
