I worked for Yellowstone National 🏞️ Park and when it snows lightly be very careful it honestly can turn into an extremely dangerous situation quickly. You really need to be more winter ❄️🥶 prepared for safety reasons. Also always have 2 cans of bear spray and carry one on you when your sight seeing, grizzlies 🐻 look big and slow, but they are lightening fast, can even out run a horse. You were seeing Ravens which are much larger then crows and usually don't make a caw sound similar to crows. Your videos are really great, keep doing them and everything looks so beautiful, THANKS 🙏 for taking us along🐻🐾🐾🥶

Yellowstone in October is magical. Most of the resorts are closed. Only Old Faithful and Mammoth stay open until mid-October, before they are winterized and then reopened for snow coach tourists. The animals are often moving around during the day because light is precious and time is running out to find food, and the bison start migrating back to Old Faithful for the winter. Unfortunately, the park is also quite dangerous around this time with overnight temps dipping into the single digits occasionally, and day time highs sometimes struggle to reach 40 degrees. Snow can arrive unexpectedly and melt/refreeze causing dreadful icy conditions that make it extremely dangerous to exit the park through the South Entrance towards Jackson. Beautiful and dangerous. Doesn’t get much better than that.

You're in my backyard right now! I was born and raised up there. I lived in a small town just south of the park called Jackson. Everybody calls it Jackson Hole but that's not actually the name of the town, that's the name of the valley that the town sits in. When we were kids and we told our parents we were going to the park we didn't mean the city park and they knew they wouldn't see us for a couple of days! My favorite time of year was winter. I appreciate this video so much it's like going home for a minute. 🥰🤗
Frozen windows break easily, be careful hitting on them. Also, dry heat from a budget diesel heater is pretty nice in a super cold like that. Propane creates so much moisture.
Jonathan, Ty . Im one of those people who will never get out much. Because of YOU, im able to see places that i would never have been able to. Much Gratitude.
Propane doesn’t emit CO2 until it is burned. Raw propane doesn’t have a smell, that’s why they add the smell to it, so it can be detected if you have a leak. Get the wiring fixed in the camper and use the heater that’s built in, it’s way safer and cheaper to run than that buddy heater. Great video, i miss that area.
I hope you're not intending to use the Buddy heater while sleeping and here's why. It is a low-pressure unit requiring an integrated regulator. Those one pound propane bottles deliver high pressure propane, around 250 PSI. Campstoves, lanterns, and the Buddy heaters utilize low-pressure propane at around 15 PSI. I, personally, prefer bulk tanks and hose setup but definitely use the fuel filter they make to prevent the oils leaching from the hose to gum up the Low Oxygen Shutoff and prevent the heater to light. Learned the hard way on this as well. If and when those regulators fail, a fire could ensue. I've seen it happen twice but was able to quickly extinguish them.
@@danielschear556 According to their website, absent from any messaging on their product packaging, is a notification that the heater is not for use above 7000 ft. Also, most batteries don't function as good as normal when temperature is below freezing.
The high altitude and cold weather will affect the heating output quite a bit. You can change the orifice on the stove for higher altitudes. And the Carbon Monoxide detector can sometimes go off from humidity or cold weather even. Propane heater will put off a lot of moisture too 🤙

Although you have no crowds in the off season, it is dangerous to have no one around, no ranger that knows you are in there, no campground, all in the dead of winter. Extreme weather can make a lot of things go wrong. Trust nothing to work. If you get stuck, you can die easily. I would not do what you are doing this late in the year. Not for Yellowstone. It can go from pleasant to very scary in a few hours. Do you have traction boards for your wheels if you get snowed in? Some tips for your safety: Don't hit a frozen window unless you want to shatter the glass. Propane heater on the floor next to a seat cushion? Propane heat will create a lot of moisture inside the cabin during the night, as it burns. Also CO2. You need a diesel heater - dry and no CO2. This is very unsafe. Get a diesel heater, keep the Buddy propane heater, and get also a Butane heater called Kavua - small and mighty. Buy butane cans at Asian stores. Your windows are letting in a lot of cold air through the glass pane. You need to make magnetic insulated window covers with Thinsulate, Reflectix, and quilted material. Rubber backed curtains on top of that. They sell little insulated pillows for your hatch as well at Camping World. Love your curtain fabric, by the way! To tenderize meat, get papain extract and rub on it. Tenderize with a mallet. Wait half hour then cook. Cook your aromatic herbs in olive oil in pan first, then add crushed garlic and some onions to caramelize, then steak. I make my own steak rub with Creole (like Cajun but richer) spices, a bit of sea salt. This will be so good on any meat, fish, steak, pork chop, calamari. Rub, sear, done. Eat your veggies!!!! Veggies are the cornerstone of good health. Make a fresh salad, always good. Good recipe for travel is to slow cook a medley of veggies in season - cabbage, bok choy, mushrooms, carrots, swiss chard, zucchini, eggplant, etc. Throw them all in a pot chopped up, add garlic, onion, Herbes de Provence or any spices and simmer into a nice warm stew. Serve with meat. You are always guaranteed a warm veggie stew or soup on your travels. Do not just eat meat this is not healthy. Did you forget the levelers under your wheels? Oh no!!
I love how you don’t curse. Even when you couldn’t open the window, you didn’t swear. That is very admirable and rare these days. Keep up the wonderful work and stay safe! I think the Buddy heater caused the CO monitor.
Steak tip: wait to put salt and other seasonings on til right before you put it on the hot pan. The salt draws out moisture from the steak and it basically boils the steak instead of browning it 😂 I’ve messed up so many steaks because of this
It a Raven or a Rook depending on your home. They have an unusual rattle noise when they call to one another. Crows are large but Ravens are much larger than a crow. What a great video. Thanks for sharing.
There are a couple of good coffee and bakery places in West Yellowstone. One is in the bookstore on the main drag. The other is down the street also on the main drag, which I think is the Madison street or guest or?
One question about the steak. was it chilled when placed into the cast iron skillet? always bring any meat to ambient temperature before searing. disregard if you already knew.
A great video. I think this one was really first class. I loved the start off with great music and snow. So beautiful. And a bear...I'm sure you will find the solution to the carbon detector. We are very glad you are safe... Thanks for another great one! I agree with another poster here. Your recording is really excellent. Thanks, Jonathan! You are a welcoming spot in our lives.
Happy you aired out the camper. A little too close a call Jonathan. Beautiful as always. The snow even makes it more magical. Cold already. Mammoth has had it's opening day. It's going to be great 🎿 and snowboarding. Great content. Loved this. Stay safe and be well. Until next time.☺️🌴👣👣🏖️
I missed somewhere why you don’t use the furnace. It vents outside so it’s a million times safer than a buddy heater. Those heaters eat up a lot of oxygen inside a small enclosed area quickly. I get using it to get warm, but your roof vent should be open if you use it
So cute watching a CA person battle the cold, really funny over here in NY 😂🤣😁 You’re doing okay though never ever force a frozen window open, nope, you just wait till that shit thaws a little! You’re lucky you didn’t break the entire window and frame, dude I was dying over here😂🤣👻
In addition to a CO detector I also bought a LP gas detector just in case my buddy heater malfunctions and gas starts leaking. I’m paranoid about stuff like that.
In your last video, I made the comment " Yellowstone in November? No thank you". And this is why. The weather in Yellowstone is precarious in the summer and in the winter, it's downright dangerous.
This is my first time seeing one of your videos. It's very good. The scenery is gorgeous. I'm with you, the off season is best for going places. No crowds and the snow is beautiful. Great job catching that bear. You're videography is well done and the pacing is perfect. I subscribed and am looking forward to going back and watching your past videos.

i have a 1993 roadtrek campervan it has the same interior lights that your camper has. i converted the lights to led bulbs which will greatly reduce the drain on your battery. Nice setup.
This was an awesome video. The different snow coming down, the hot springs, and the bear crossing the river. You have really grown in your “movie” making. Have you seen the growth in your channel in the past few months…WOW, pretty soon you’ll be at the 100k subscribers. So happy for you. I miss that Tessa can’t be with you on these longer trips. Maybe one of these times….
hi, Jonathan; Great video!! But just like to mention that propane doesn't work too well in the cold. You might want to try induction cooktop in colder weather & not sure how to resolve your heating problems but maybe use electric or diesel heating source. Thanks & keep safe!!
Beautiful video. The music was perfect. Your co2 sensor may have picked up random cooking odors. Ours used to go off if I used hairspray in the camper.
It's a possibility the CO detector is old. Check the date.. should have a sticker on there with the date. they usually last like 5 to 7 years. Might need to replace it.
Good job Jonathan. The reason why the crows are so big, is because they aren't crows. They are ravens, the much bigger crow cousin. O2 alarm going off, and fry pan not heating up properly, because of high elevation?
I live 30 minutes away from gardiner/ yellowstone. We really got the snow last night! That being said, if you choose to head to bozeman be careful, i90 goes through the absoroka/bear tooth mountains on the way. It might be sunny or just cloudy in bozeman or livingston but that pass gets crazy amounts of snow when other places aren't.i also suggest going to the yellowstone hot springs in Gardiner. It's a huge pool. And only $12 a person.
As someone else said, bring your steak to room temp. Might be difficult where you are 😊. Also, pat dry your steak before seasoning. If you’re unsure if your cast iron is hot enough splash water from your finger tips to see if the water sizzles and evaporates. If it’s hot enough it should evaporate quickly. Then add your butter.
Hi, since I grew up in the cold Colorado mountains it’s essential to have a motor oil synthetic that can take the cold . We use to have heater blocks to keep the oil warm other wise the engine wouldn’t turn over but that was back in the 80’s when Gunnison could hit -50 everything froze to the ground even tires . Always be prepared when dealing with snow and cold you can get stuck. Stay warm happy trails 😎❤ your videos very peaceful
Great video, I was one of several tourists in June that got stuck due to the flood. Park Service Rangers were amazing and a week later was able to go back inside the park.
Love the video. Thanks for sharing your stories of adventure. I think when you were cooking your steak the pan didn't get searing hot because the propane tank was very cold causing a big drop in pressure. It happens to me a lot when camping. It's slightly frustrating trying to boil water for coffee on a freezing morning.
Love your videos! The giant crow may actually be a raven. I used to love car camping in October, but for the last three years my October adventures have been rife with rainy deluges, windstorms, blizzards, snowfall, and in California...wildfires. Global warming? Climate change? La Nina? Now, late August and September have been better, except for wildfires.
Check for a possible gas leak. It's too much of a coincidence that your pan is getting less hot than you're used to and your monoxide alarm is going off for the first time. Most gas tubes are made of rubber and rubber doesn't deal well with big changes in temperature.
awesome stuff .. hey got to crack a window with the propane buddy heater. also get a dehumidifer to reduce moisture in unit. best money spent for a truck camper IMO. safe travels

Oh no!!
Living my dream through the lense of Jonathan! Sitting in Munich with a beer in hand enjoying my Sunday evening.
I like how you played that beautiful music while you were cooking it made the atmosphere seem so relaxing. Great truck camping video!👍👍
Yellowstone is just a big parking lot so I'm told. Come up to Canada and see true wilderness
Quick tip on frozen window.... spray sliders with silicone. Also works in truck windows and door seals. Enjoyed the vid. 👍👍✌️
One question about the steak. was it chilled when placed into the cast iron skillet? always bring any meat to ambient temperature before searing. disregard if you already knew.
Love your videos Jonathan!! The effort for your footage is admirable
You are so brave to be there by yourself. The bears are just around now. Take care. Thanks for sharing your blog.
Beautiful waterfall. People smash the like button to show support for his videos. Thank you😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I’m so glad I found your channel really enjoyable content and beautiful scenery.
I love that you have a fire extinguisher in there. I would hate to hear you had a fire and lost it all. Keep up the good work.
Dont worry...bears are in thier dens hibernating during this time of year
Your videos are literally so amazing bro. Very atmospheric and mezmorizing. You are creating a very unique form of art.
The music is so good with these videos! You did good Jonathan!
You’re lucky you didn’t break the entire window and frame, dude I was dying over here😂🤣👻
Turn your pan by quarter turns every 2 minutes or so to heat it evenly. Cast iron will heat soak but if not turned, it will be spotty for heat.
WOW ! GORGEOUS snowy adventure !
Lying in the back of my truck watching this
Just got back from a 17 mile hike here in Colorado lots of snow ❄️ here
Don't stop man make it last 4 months out is still months enjoy on the road
In addition to a CO detector I also bought a LP gas detector just in case my buddy heater malfunctions and gas starts leaking. I’m paranoid about stuff like that.
Excellent Video Jonathan, good catch on the grizz crossing the river. Love them!!!!
In your last video, I made the comment " Yellowstone in November? No thank you". And this is why. The weather in Yellowstone is precarious in the summer and in the winter, it's downright dangerous.
I'd rather deal with bad weather than the tons of tourists there in the on season
I live in West Yellowstone. It’s not that bad. I moved out here from Michigan and winter back home is way worse.
Check out Cdn foresty forest yt
Awww, yes, you ought to see his other videos; we are deep into his journey, here. Quite an exhilarating venture.
78 and unseasonably warm in the Garden state (NJ) but I’m not complaining we just celebrated the 10th anniversary of super storm sandy, those were scary freezing times. Be safe my friend
Yes Johnathan, you are so right. I was just there last summer and what a mess. I have a tiny cargo trailer and I could not even find a place to park. Great vid my friend.
i have a 1993 roadtrek campervan it has the same interior lights that your camper has. i converted the lights to led bulbs which will greatly reduce the drain on your battery. Nice setup.
Beautiful music , scenery , your videos are amazing ❤️
This was an awesome video. The different snow coming down, the hot springs, and the bear crossing the river. You have really grown in your “movie” making. Have you seen the growth in your channel in the past few months…WOW, pretty soon you’ll be at the 100k subscribers. So happy for you. I miss that Tessa can’t be with you on these longer trips. Maybe one of these times….
Beautiful! With your video I almost felt like I was there. 💕💕💕
May be the small bottle in the Mr Buddy Heater, they can have small leaks, doesn't matter if on or not.
Nice video! Yellowstone is beautiful!
Beautiful video ! Love your NATURE SHOTS !
hi, Jonathan; Great video!!
Thank you for taking us to all these beautiful places. 😊
Your Videos are the most scenic and just the traveling down that Wonderful Open Road.
With propane on turn on an off your burners , then check with match ( fire ) to see if you have fumes leaking from stove top.
On your next visit check out Quake Lake. Just outside of W.Yell. lots of camping and amazing history of the area turned up side down.
Pretty sure that gigantic crow is a raven lol. Keep the videos coming man! Looks like u are having a blast :)
awesome stuff .. hey got to crack a window with the propane buddy heater. also get a dehumidifer to reduce moisture in unit. best money spent for a truck camper IMO. safe travels
I was there a few years ago with my foster daughter ❤…. I smiled and remembered that time. My foster family lives in Rexbug. Thank you for sharing.. get that checked out though, it’s quite alarming…eeee. 😮. I really do enjoy watching your videos.❤
Humidity can trigger co detectors. We had one outside our bathroom which would trip after a steamy shower. Get a second co detector.
Yellowstone and Montana my absolute favorites! Thank you for the beautiful footage. I spent so much time there when I was a kid. Love your videos. Oh and that crow is a Raven and they are Huge and so smart. That steak looked amazing!!
You should fix the campers furnace, it vents to the outside, your MR heater puts off Carbon Monoxide.
Great videos as usual with you. Side note Buddy heaters are super dangerous only use to take the edge off
That beep was probably a low battery warning..
Hey Bud, You Might Night To Build A Storage Supply Box Where You Can Keep All Your Camping Fishing Gear, Boots, Socks, Warm Clothing, Gloves, Etc.👍You Don’t Have To Spent Money On Buying Stuff You Ready Have. Love Your Videos👍👍👍❤️
Check the battery of the carbonixide alarm. It goes of when the batteries aren't working proparly
Yeeeeew love seeing some snow! Hyped for this season!
Yewww!
@@JonathanYentch Yeeeeew!
Enjoy Yellowstone, but if you've got the time, explore the other parts of Wyoming as well as it's a beautiful state. Teton and Wind River National Parks are pretty amazing.
Thank you for sharing the Winter Wonderland... It's a jaw dropping views again. 👌👌
