The end result is absolutely killer, and honestly the aesthetic I love straight out of that app. Here I've been saving my pennies for a used Fujifilm from video/photos... but after seeing a few of these vids about the 5D's with ML I'm realizing I could get the look "that's in my head" for a fraction of the cost. Even a used mark iv is significantly cheaper than the cameras I had sitting in my wishlist. Thanks for that.
Yes Zeek! Little by little we have all tutorials (in one place) it needs to make beautiful shots! Thank you for effort and time. I believe it would be so much easier to go to new gear for generating the views.. But what you are doing here - it is brilliant. Thumbs up for great content!
I commented on another post here and knew some people already used dng but I just tried it for the first time and literally blown away! The render time and grading potential in Resolve is perfect! Just what I needed bro 🙌🏾
Yeah, it really is great! The uncompressed DNG files really keeps the skin tones natural like a C200 and it honestly looks great. I'll still be using ProRes thorough as I slowly work my way through DNG. Good stuff! 👍
Man, I am a photo channel too, your stuff made me buy the EOS M. It was 221 Dollars. You are the only resource I needed to follow , thank you for finding me a gem to get started on cinematography.
@@ZeekEOSZ Your channel is a gem for me and this small community in learning this camera and a gateway to starting in cinematography. Please keep the EOS M alive.
Hey Zeek I'm a new subscriber and after having binge watched almost all of your videos on the Canon Eos M I have to say that I'm properly sold. I have ordered two bodies from Ebay and waiting to set them up so I can shoot 1080p raw. Furthermore I will be slowly selling all my other cameras as they are dead weight. I am now very inspired to go out and shoot! Thank you for everything.
Thank so much for sharing this. have been looking for a good software to work with MLV for a long time and this is just incredible. Great that you added all the links aswell!
Very useful video, Zeek! I recommend you to do a similar video with your settings when recording, explaining what to change in different light situations, white balance, how to expose with the histogram or the tools you personally use, etc. I think that real time in depth guide would be very useful and a killer in your channel. Thanks for this content, you are a legend! 🔥🔥
man! I really respect your love and passion regarding the original canon eos M! Your channel is a real treasure! Ordered my eos M a few days ago. I hope it`ll arrive around christmas for me to play around with it
That was very helpful. Thanks. I didn’t even know about the MLV app. I used ML a long time ago and from what I remember I somehow converted the mlv’s to individual .dng files and graded those in Lightroom ! Then the .dng’s were exported back to some video format. A tedious process. Not fun at all, which is why I didn’t do much ML despite the great video quality. Now that I have a more powerful computer (Mac mini m2 pro) and I will revisit ML with my 5d mark III.
Finally got Zeek updated the MLV workflow , if possible would it be another tutorial to share the settings and how you switch the video mode/ still photo mode when using the magic lantern?
@@ZeekEOSZ HaHa, I got this idea since the review of the 3 7Artisans lens from you last time , where you took photos and videos both at the same period .During the run and gun, the speed to switch and capture those moments actually quite important for us, that makes me more curious about your settings. We will keep supporting your future videos & tutorials 👍
No problem! You don't want to spend too much time on MLV app. Just paste the receipt you've made across all then.mlv files and then make the adjustments you need per clip. Cheers! 😎👍
No problem. I'll be hopefully getting more into the DNG workflow in future sight. It just feels like the Blackmagic way and retains better detail than prores. Both options are great, it's all a matter of what works for you. I've been using prores for more than 2 years. Cheers :)
@@AltCine Yeah cool, I've just got to get a lot of items and things sorted. FCPX is good for the quick stuff, Davinci is very precise and better for certain things. Amazing move to pc 😎🙌🎥 Best of luck 👍
Get rid of focus dots with these focus pixel maps. Download the zip file. Copy and paste the resolution map files into the MLV App interface. Enjoy! Pixel Maps: bitbucket.org/Dannephoto/mlv_app_compiler-git/downloads/focus_pixel_maps.zip
Appreciate it. Sound is going directly into the A7rii. Unfortunately for the MLV App tutorial part, the MacBook didn't pick up the usb microphone and so it used the in-built sound...
Wooowww Thank you brother. A 12-year-old machine is still doing incredible work. When I have a Canon 5DM2 I don't need to switch to 5DM3 or 5DM4. Thank you for this amazing and useful video. We would appreciate it if you let us know about up-to-date information and mistakes about the canon 5D Mark2. God bless you.
Very useful video! Thanks! I just noticed that i can achieve (even) better colors and overall look using Camera RAW by Adobe, MLV App is awesome but Camera RAW is literally TOP, colors and details are incredible and also as for me CR much easier in use. I drop DNG into the After Effects and than export to mov
Thanks for the video. Just a small advice. Keep your screen clean and try to avoid direct light on it as it exposes all the fingerprints and that is not pleasant. 0:04
Thanks! Great videos. Tell me please the difference between 2 cameras for shooting raw video from EOS M and MARK2. What is better? What are the difference?
Hey bud, would love to see a quicker workflow video using MCM rewire & Davinci Resolve if possible. I can't seem to get the grade very well in DaVinci, at least not as good as MLV App. You edit all your videos in MLVApp, even the talking portions?
Yep everything is done in MLV App. Me talking to the camera is with my A7rii. I use FCPX for that. I use Davinci mainly with the P4K, but Ive been toying with Eos m files and davinci. I like to use any modes other than MCM rewire with Davinci as you can't get rid of the aliasing like you can in mlv app.
Nice video! I'm a Canon 200d shooter and it looks very interesting to swap to the EOS M to shoot 1080 raw and upscale it to 4k at the end for YT. I also use my gimbal quite a lot so I also need 1080p 50p raw. I do love DPAF on my 200d and the tracking feature is very handy. Is that possible at all with 1080 raw to have good continous AF on a gimbal and tracking features? Then it would be the perfect cam for me at such a price point. I would love to grade further in PP. Is there an easy way with a good preset on MLV APP to turn the files into prores and edit and grade further in Premiere? Or do the files become 8 bit again once it´s in Premiere pro with prores? Or does MLV APP create a perfect starting point in terms of dynamic range and you can easily do the finishing touch in PP without ruining the quality?
If you want to grade further in Premiere, you can export in prores e.g. 422, 444, 4444. You can select "profile preset" just under gradation curves in MLV App, then enable Alexa LOG C, SLOG, C-LOG etc... then export prores for more flexibility in post. Otherwise, for a quicker workflow, just export as DNG and import them into premiere pro. For gimbal use, there is only contrast AF. I'd recommend setting the camera to infinity focus the record, or focus on the subject and then maintain that distance. I recorded this whole video with the EOS M RAW, Prores RAW and the MOZA AIRCROSS: ua-cam.com/video/0GyF7tCiY-o/v-deo.html
@@ZeekEOSZ When I use my gimbal I record a lot of close ups as well with small dof so push in and pull out will all be rack focus shots then. Also the tracking feature is very nice to track fishes in my aquarium when using my gimbal. Hmm basically ease of use 8 bit with dpaf footage (200d) vs Raw IQ with no continous AF and no flip screen. Both have their pros and cons! Are there any cameras with ML with continous AF and 50p option? I guess mixing the footage from 200d 8 bit on a gimbal with canon eos m raw on tripod and slider will be quite jarring in a sequence? You make amazing videos man well done!
It's why I own more than one cam. Different cams for different purposes. The Canon 700D is getting better with Flip screen, not sure about the AF, that would be the 70d's department, but it's less developed with ML. I have the M50, but the EOS M raw looks way better. Soon to sell the M50.
@@ZeekEOSZ The 70d would be awesome if I could make it work. I have seen the resolution is 1832x1024 on the 70d. Regarding the 1832x1024 resolution. Could I just make a timeline in Premiere pro based on 1832x1024 and when I edited the whole sequence upscale it to UHD before posting to YT? Or maybe buy a 70d for ml gimbal work and eos m for tripod and slider shots. Although then the resolution won't match on the timeline of the eos m and 70d.. Regarding that ML is less developed on 70d would this mean less features or a very unreliable system to work with?
@@NigelAquascaping Depends what you export it as in mlv app. If DNG no upscaling is done in MLV App only in premiere upon export. The only thing with the 70D is the aliasing, less modes, and less record time. There should be sample clips on YT, from the 70D with ML RAW too.
Yes audio and raw is fine on the 5Dii. It's all continuous Raw so depends how big your SD or CF Card is. I use 128GB and it takes a long time to fill up. Cheers 😎👍
@@ZeekEOSZ I was watching your video and I decided to bring my old 5Dmk2 back to life. i have a golden sandisk extreme rated for 120MB/S but it records at 65MB/s only, camera icon turns red, ML drops a frame and shuts down recording after a few sec. do you think i should get the black extreme pro? is 60-70MB/s normal for sandisk extreme? Recording works fine if I lower the resolution and record below 70MBS. thank you guys in advance!
In my opinion, SanDisk Extreme PRO is the way to go. Never encountered issues. I get so many comments about what SD Cards - This is the one! Also, the developer is aiming to bring Lossless compression to the 5D2 RAW Video so you get higher fps, less file sizes.
@@ZeekEOSZ hi Zeek I'm trying to import video into MLV app from my EOS M connected via USB but the computer doesn't see the MLV files. What am I doing wrong?
Hi Zeek, is there a way to avoid or get rid of the "pinkish" highlights especially from i.e. street lights or car lights? If you have a quick tip to share would be great. Many thanks!
Wait, so ML doesn't record RAW file types that could be directly imported to Davinci or Premiere? You must convert them and color correct them first? Does it hurt the whole RAW workflow? I want to play with these RAW flexible files directly in Davinci. Can't do that?
Hello mate, another great video! All your videos have finally convinced me to purchase a second hand EOS M with the kit lens. Quick question, which ND filters are you using to shoot on the EOS M and 5D MKII? I am looking to upgrade but not sure if it is better to go for separate ND's instead of a variable ND? Cheers bro!
Great! Go variable ND's all the way. I know people say Singular ND's are better quality, but I've used FOTGA Variable ND's for such a long time now. No issues! 😎👍🎥
Hi @Zeek great video! I was wondering how to export the best best quality and the most flat and unprocessed file from MLV (I would like to have more possibility after, when I'll be in the color correction process). I tried with DNG uncompressed, but when I go into première and I import the file, it's quit different from the flat result that I could se on the MLV preview (the file is a bit less flat and a bit tending to yellow). Did I do something wrong? Would you please give me some advice to reach what I want? Thanks!
After export from mvl app (dng) I want to put the files into da Vinci but I see no video.. I only see every single frame...try for 2 days very frustrating can someone help please
Hey, Zeek! I'm really inspired and blown away by the cinematic quality of your videos; the EOS M, especially!! Wow!! What lens are you using on the EOS M @ 0:33? I really want to shoot wide-angle cinemascope style, and I'm not sure how to best approach that with the crop factor, Viltrox, etc. I like the anamorphic wide-angle look, but I don't love lens-flare. Any thoughts/suggestions? Thank you!!
That was with a Pentax 28mm F2.8 lens. My favourite lens right now is the Canon 17-55 IS. Sigma or Tamron 17-50 are also good. If you want to shoot wide, then the Tokina 11-16 with a speedbooster could do.
except some of the tools inside MlvApp are pretty dang useful, for instance reducing chroma noise. At least it beats doing it in premiere pro/after effects.
@@ZeekEOSZ does it make sense: 1. Export raw files to DNG in MLVapp. 2. Color correct footage in davinci and then export files to Premiere Pro/FCPX. 3. Use the histogram and check your EV (Exposure Value). Should be at the bottom left or right of the screen. Make sure it isn't above EV 1.0 e.g. 1.1, 1.6, 2 etc. Otherwise you'll get noise. Use a fast lens e.g. f1.4, 1.8, F2 etc, as well as a speedbooster.

Yes I do and I saw in your Video description that their is a new ML (2020) for this cam so I downloaded it and Installed it and now it just works fine :)
I prefer using NDxHR, or NDxHrHQX, 10 bit, to 4k. I lose audio when I convert to NDxHR 12 bit, 444, I think. Anyways, have you done recent tests on getting the most quality out of this system, no matter how big the file might be? Thoughts?
Hey man, absolutely beautiful image! I am planning to buy a eos m or eos m2 . But I know some other Canon camera have aliasing problem when using ML, and is this a problem for Eos M?
Yes aliasing is present. But in MLV App you can enable CA desature to 100% which will reduce the presence of aliasing with a little bit of reduction to quality. I would go with the M instead. In both the anamorphic mode and 2.5K there is no aliasing.

Nice! Have you noticed any flickering issue after playing with the highlights (as you'll get with adobe camera raw)?
Hi Zeek! Apologize if this is a dumb question, but is there any way to trim raw mlv files in ML or MLV App, or any other app? I've been shooting clips that are several minutes long but only want sections of them (waiting for mama bird to feed baby birds, etc). I haven't figured out how to trim the raw mlv so I'm running the whole file through MLV App, then cutting the excess afterward in Shotcut. I'm using a really wimpy PC; getting a 7 min clip out of MLV App takes 4+ hours (using H.264). Hopefully that makes sense. This is all new and I'm stumbling along. I certainly would have thrown in the towel on ML if not for all the detailed help, inspiration, and -- for sure -- links where you've just done it all for us. It is VERY much appreciated. Thank you!
Yeah you can trim in MLV App. Top right it shows you the frames e.g. 1 to 3567, you can trim to what you need e.g. 400-867 frames instead of the whole thing.

Yo Zeek! Awsome video man, I love your work! I've been wanting to ask you if you have any experience with filming indoors in low light? I got the EOS M a couple of months ago and i love using it so far. However i can't seem to get the exposure right (between 0.1 and 1 on the histogram thingy in ML) when filming indoors in low light. I get this red/green noise in my shots which makes them look terrible. On the histogram it shows that the picture is overexposed. I tried using chroma smooth 3x3 in MLV but it doesn't remove the noise. I tried looking for an answer in the ML forum but dude that place is impossible to navigate! Do you know how to fix this? Cheers from Denmark :)
Hi Zeek! Followed your video and exported a video from MLV app in 4K, however, when I export the master file from Final Cut, it shows that it will export in 1920 x 1080 and doesn’t give me the ability to export in 4K. Do you know what I could be doing wrong?
Nice video man, really helpful especially for a beginner like myself. But since I'm recording at 1080p with the EOS-m, does exporting it to 4k or 2k on MLVapp would make the video better?
Hello my friend, my videos that I have processed and recorded in the MLV application get stuck a little when I play them later and play like a slow motion video shot with 60 fps. What is the reason of this?
They are big files, playback in MLV App can be difficult, export will be better. Try minimising the MLV App screen to a smaller size then playback. It should be much faster.
@@ZeekEOSZ Dude my problem is starting after exporting the video. After exporting my video, I open it for viewing and see the video playing a little slow and with difficulty. I still couldn't fix this problem. Where is the error? What's your comment man?

Complete beginner here. Does converting the RAW file to h.264 or the ProRes 4444 file degrade the original RAW footage? If so, to what degree? How much are we gaining by shooting in RAW and converting to h.264 (for example) versus just shooting in h.264? Thanks for all of the informative videos!!

Hello Zeek, I was wondering if you could help with an issue I get each time I shoot Raw with the 5DMark3. It seems like, no matter what ISO I use, I always get horrible noise on the footage, especially in the darker spots and it's as if the noise was Red. I downloaded your clip in the description box and tried fooling around with the exposure etc, it's super clean and never get noisy. Any idea why it's like that ? It even happened on a super sunny Summer day with ISO 100 and super image, but the darker spots (I was filming water) were noisy, and it's almost impossible to make a correction or adding contrast without the noise to be amplified as well.. Thanks.
You shouldn't get noise if you expose correctly. Check you EV Exposure Value when you shoot and ensure they're between1-0.1 EV. also use False Colour tool in the ML Menu to check if you're accidentally crushing the blacks. I always shoot 100 ISO.
@@ZeekEOSZ Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately I tried various options and each time there is red noise in the shadows. It got a bit better when using the native ISO of the 5DMark3 (160, 320 etc.) but it's far from perfect. Day shots are OK but as soon as there is any darker spot, noise is back... Not much info on internet, but it seems like a few others have that problem. They think either defective camera or got results by using pro Denoiser plugins (in Davinci for example). I think I'll have to live with that. Thanks again for your answer :).

Okay, 12:43 confused me a whole lot rn, haha. 😁 Great stuff~ Still gotta improve on my color correction, my stuff just lacks.. punch. And your preset looks terrible on my files, so that won't help. 😒
Haha, lol yeah just noticed that. It was late at night and I had to get to bed ASAP. Sure, no worries! Good exposure from the beginning will definitely help! In these clips I used a Viltrox speedbooster and Zeiss 50mm f2.8 and Takumar 35mm F2.
For low-end PC, DNG Uncompressed Export for Davinci/Premiere PRO would be your best bet, the rest will export slower. I'm using a MacBook 2012 so if it's better than that, then you should be good. The website for MLV App doesn't state the requirements so I'm not sure the minimum specs. I would assume 8GB to be the minimum, 2.2Ghz and above, with SSD and good graphics card.
@@ZeekEOSZ For low-end PC, your MLVApp workflow should be best, because Resolve and or Premiere very often won't run on such computers. Min Spec for MLVApp: you need about 1GB RAM and any x86 processor Windows7, Linux or OSX 10.9.5+ supports, no GPU. Btw: nice vid! ;)
Thanks Ma Sc 😎👍. Trust me, I've tried a few different computers. I thought GPU was important with MLV App, but it wasnt. I have a laptop with NVIDIA GTX 1080 GPU but there is not much difference. For Davinci and Adobe, yes, but not MLV Export. What would be the most important hardware for MLV App? CPU? e.g. i7 9th Gen. My friends iMac 2013 i7, 1TB Fusion Drive with NVIDIA GTX 760m handled MLV ProRes export the quickest I have seen and playback is between 17-20fps.
@@ZeekEOSZ The MLVApp code base is 99% for CPU, just the viewer itself runs via OpenGL (dragging and zooming). GPU processing code is very different and we have not found someone who can help there. So for now MLV export is always on 100% CPU. We made most of the algorithms (not all) multithreaded, so the more cores you have, the faster the export will be. This iMac's i7 has 4 cores + HT, so it works with 8 threads. That makes it faster. And on OSX it will always be faster than on Windows :) Best is having a fast desktop CPU with many cores.
Great tutorials Zeek! I'm having a problem when exporting. I followed your guidelines but the videos often export much much shorter than the original length. Settings are normal with no in and out points, Mlv files are exported from and too my hard drive. Can't figure it out... any suggestion would be awesome. P.s. I'm a fellow Melbournian:)
Hey, check your frame count box in MLV App on the top right panel, the one with RED X. Shows you your starting frame and end frame before export. Make sure your not losing or skipping frames.
Export DNG, otherwise H.264/ProRes which will take more time. I've been doing this for more than 2 years now, I own other cams as well, but I really do love the colours and texture coming out of the raw footage.
@@ZeekEOSZLooks like there is a demo version of it. Too bad there is no mac version. I will test it but to be honest it's weird that there is no real information on the web about it. Looks like noone hast tested it yet :')
@@ZeekEOSZ So i tested it a little and it's a very good option to play your mlv files in realtime while playing with some color settings. There are some features disabled like luts or fix bad pixels for example but thats because of the demo version i think. Interface is usable but i must admit that mlv app is way better in termes of finetuning and usability. Also i like the mlv app interface and it's approach with receipes and export options much more. Also i couldn't findany tonemapping features and colorspace settings are all over the place which is confusing. The funny thing is that the debayer of fast cinemadng processor gets much better results in some of my videos that have moire / aliasing issues. I shot stuff with 6d (with moire filter) and eos m (3x crop) where aliasing happend in some clothes or in bright led lights and now it's completely gone. Sadly i couldn't get the result out of the program in order to fit it into my project :( Imagine if mlv app would get more debayer options. At this point i think that it's the debayer option that makes the big difference and the will to finetune the final result. I don't see the investment in this software yet because the workflow and overall interface isn't working good for me but it's deabyer has kept me thinking (debayer is called MG, 23x23 BGGR)
Cool, thanks a lot for sharing the results. Aliasing comes from the camera sensor, but it's amazing to see how other debaters filter this. Very interesting 😎👍

Nah. Owned these cameras for a long time, even the 6D, 5D2 and 5D3. Used ML on all of them. No issues, even when boundaries were pushed. Just use them simply for basic RAW Video and you're good to go, even when you use the high resolutions they're fine. It doesn't affect still photography. This camera takes stunning photos!

That is awesome! Even as a photo camera I reckon the EOS M rocks!
No problem at all, glad to hear! These cameras are awesome for the price. Good luck! 😎👍
So cool using 2012 computer, amazing work!!
Haha..yeah, cheers! 😎🤙
Thank so much for sharing this. have been looking for a good software to work with MLV for a long time and this is just incredible. Great that you added all the links aswell!
No problem 😊👍
Very useful video, Zeek! I recommend you to do a similar video with your settings when recording, explaining what to change in different light situations, white balance, how to expose with the histogram or the tools you personally use, etc. I think that real time in depth guide would be very useful and a killer in your channel. Thanks for this content, you are a legend! 🔥🔥
Cheers Greg! Will take this into consideration 😎👍🎥
Great overview, thank you! I have heard of raw video but never seen how to work with it on an EOS M! Great work!
Yeah it's really simple, not complicated at all 😎👍
man! I really respect your love and passion regarding the original canon eos M!
Your channel is a real treasure! Ordered my eos M a few days ago. I hope it`ll arrive around christmas for me to play around with it
No problem 😎👍 Freaking love this camera. It's a budget indie raw cam lol. All the best hopefully you get it before Christmas 🎄
@@ZeekEOSZ Thanks Zeek!
Cheers Dee! I'll definitely consider it, but it's pretty simple to make the switch between the modes. Just turn off ML Raw resolution.
Ahh...gotcha! Yeah, quick switching is crucial. Maybe another solution could be having two EOS M's, one for stills and the other for video 😉. Cheers!

Interesting workflow Zeek. Thanks! And quite surprising too, no Log-C conversion! Will give your receipt a try soon.

Thanks for the Cinema dng Davinci tip 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
No problem. I'll be hopefully getting more into the DNG workflow in future sight. It just feels like the Blackmagic way and retains better detail than prores. Both options are great, it's all a matter of what works for you. I've been using prores for more than 2 years. Cheers :)

I recorded this whole video with the EOS M RAW, Prores RAW and the MOZA AIRCROSS:
ua-cam.com/video/0GyF7tCiY-o/v-deo.html
@@NigelAquascaping
Depends what you export it as in mlv app. If DNG no upscaling is done in MLV App only in premiere upon export. The only thing with the 70D is the aliasing, less modes, and less record time. There should be sample clips on YT, from the 70D with ML RAW too.
@12:43 and @12:46 using Final Cut Pro, there seems to be some video clip artifacts going back to your MLV app export settings?
Haha...yeah it was late at night and I forgot to delete those clips above the timeline when I exported.
Very good tips!

Not getting export audio box to check
Hello.
Can you record audio + raw video with the MK II ?
Also how much footage can the camera handle before havin to stop the recording?

Hi Zeek, is there a way to avoid or get rid of the "pinkish" highlights especially from i.e. street lights or car lights? If you have a quick tip to share would be great. Many thanks!
Yes, in MLV App enable the Highlight fix, also reduce white level slightly until the pink highlights dissapear.

Wait, so ML doesn't record RAW file types that could be directly imported to Davinci or Premiere? You must convert them and color correct them first? Does it hurt the whole RAW workflow? I want to play with these RAW flexible files directly in Davinci. Can't do that?
Thanks For sharing brother zeek! God bless!
If you want to shoot wide, then the Tokina 11-16 with a speedbooster could do.
yeah I can't get it to export. It keeps telling me encoder ffmpeg missing in application path. I have no idea what to do then lol

Good Tips Zeek, so with DNG workflow you would have to colour grade in Premiere pro or DaVinci, so no point making any edits in MLV app??
Yes pretty much! 😎👍
except some of the tools inside MlvApp are pretty dang useful, for instance reducing chroma noise. At least it beats doing it in premiere pro/after effects.
@@stefanthorndahl1666 yeah for sure!
I think the DNG workflow is very useful as a way to correct your footage and set it ready for post so you just focus on editing and color grading.
@@ZeekEOSZ does it make sense:
1. Export raw files to DNG in MLVapp.
2. Color correct footage in davinci and then export files to Premiere Pro/FCPX.
3. Edit and color grade in PP/FCPX
Or should I color grade in davinci as well. Sorry, I am confused after watching many videos at which point Davinci and Premiere Pro/Final.Cut comes in

Oh and does EOS M record 1080p continuously?
Hey man, absolutely beautiful image! I am planning to buy a eos m or eos m2 . But I know some other Canon camera have aliasing problem when using ML, and is this a problem for Eos M?
Yes aliasing is present. But in MLV App you can enable CA desature to 100% which will reduce the presence of aliasing with a little bit of reduction to quality. I would go with the M instead. In both the anamorphic mode and 2.5K there is no aliasing.
Nice! Have you noticed any flickering issue after playing with the highlights (as you'll get with adobe camera raw)?
No I haven't!

@@ZeekEOSZ thank you so much! Will try! :)
@@ZeekEOSZ So i installed the maps and reloaded the programm. But the pixels are still there. They are very small but easy to notice. Even better with a black and white lut. They are very small and in the first line of the footage on the top. Can you notice them in your footage? I have another question. I tried to shoot in 25 fps in mcm rewire 1080 but it always messes with either image (flickering colours) or the settings for example the shutter. I also tried to change settings in canon menu from 25 to 24 didn't help. Do you think it is possible to shoot 25fps 1/50? Thank you zeek!
Can the Cinestyle settings be uploaded in conjunction with ML, or do we have to choose one over the other?
RAW doesn't allow picture profiles. You can see the picture profiles in your live view, but not in the actual recorded footage.
hey zeek any idea on how to export audio on mlv app?
Make sure there is audio in the camera first. Ensure sound has been enabled in ml menu, 3rd tab.
In mlv app, if you use fps override, it will also disable sound export.
Having trouble getting sound with my video when I export to Final Cut Pro X - the video is fine but the sound just disappears! Have I missed something in the video or could you give me a little hand here? Great video by the way, up to this point you answered all of my life's questions!
make sure you haven't ticked "fps override" or that you have enabled sound in the export settings.
Hi Zeek, I use SanDisk Extreme pro with 170mb/s write speed. Recording with 1080 14bit option. Pink screen flashing consistently every 5 to 6 sec of video in MLV file. Am I doing something wrong on setting? Fixable? Thanks for your help
Check you're not shooting 30fps. Also,.could be a fake card, if possible do an SD Benchmark test.
@@ZeekEOSZ correction: card is write at 90mb/s SanDisk Extreme pro , sold from Amazon. I will run a benchmark test and see if my fps is set wrong. What about the video clips now? Fixable? :(
@@nikoonikoo
You mean 95MB/s?
As for the clips you will have to zoom in the timeline and delete those single frames, apart from that, no other way.
@@ZeekEOSZ Got it. Thanks Zeek :)
@@ZeekEOSZ 90mb write and 170 read, 64 GB, sold and ship from Amazon. I just order the 2nd copies and test out if the previous card is defected

Send photos to my Instagram/Facebook if you can, would love to see it.
@@ZeekEOSZ Hello Zeek, it's incredibly nice that you want to help :-). Thanks a lot, I really don't wanna bother you with that.
I don't have any Facebook or Instagram account, so I tought I could give you 2 MLV clips per GoogleDrive. 5s clips at 100 ISO and 1600 ISO with the same view. I apologize it's not perfect and it got dark here in France when I shot it a few hours ago, but it's so you can get the idea and see what I mean. Even in bright light there is this red noise in darker spots:

Thanks again !
@@ZeekEOSZ Hello, I was wondering if you had the opportunity to check the 2 MLV files. Like I said before, I don't want to bother you and can understand if it's not a priority for you. I think I'll stop trying and shot normal without the Raw option (No noise at all in MOV for the same shot...). Thanks again.
Brother please tel me about is mlv app working on low end pc. and how much ram , memory, processor required minimum
Thank you very much, GOD bless you
@@ZeekEOSZ For low-end PC, your MLVApp workflow should be best, because Resolve and or Premiere very often won't run on such computers.
Hey zeek when I export my clip it'll only export 1 frame is there a way to export the full clip intead of just 1 frame?
In MLV App, check the frame time in the right panel, press the red X to reset.
@@ZeekEOSZ Thanks Zeek. A work around seems to be just to keep reopening the MLV app from time to time.
Great Video!
Thank you 😎👍
WHY IT IS SO slowly when I export from app ? thank you
It uses 99% CPU not GPU. Exporting DNG is the Quickest for long clips. For short clips I use ProRes or H.264.
@@ZeekEOSZ thank you i HAVE 4790K CPU and 32G RAM IT only Use 35% and what Can i do to be quick?
Export DNG, otherwise H.264/ProRes which will take more time. I've been doing this for more than 2 years now, I own other cams as well, but I really do love the colours and texture coming out of the raw footage.
@@ZeekEOSZ THANK YOU zeek! i will try !
is there no way to just edit with mlv files? is there a way to mass bulk convert from mlv into pro res log?
you can edit with mlv flies in mlv app or mlvproducer. You can highlight all and export prores and encode as Alexa LOG or Sony SLOG etc.
Have you tested the software "Fast CinemaDNG Processor"? I never heard of it before :)
I have seen it, and i was so close to buying it, but then I realised it's only for Windows & Linux...
@@ZeekEOSZLooks like there is a demo version of it. Too bad there is no mac version. I will test it but to be honest it's weird that there is no real information on the web about it. Looks like noone hast tested it yet :')
@@INSTINCT777
It looks good to me, I'd test the demo first for sure!
The picture with this receipt looks stunning. U think it's gonna work well with some LUT?
Yeah for sure. Many ways to edit these footage! 😎👍
hello zeek, love your content man. i need some help... im having issues downloading the app. im on the most current version of catalina on a macbook pro, and when trying to open the app, i get a warning saying mlv app cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified. what can i do?
Ah right. You go into privacy settings on your MacBook and click "open anyway"
Great video! I’ve seen some people say that using magic lantern could hurt your camera, how so? And also, does this affect normal still photography?
Zeek Thank you so much for the prompt response and insight!
No problem 👍
