Personally, firebug is my favorite perk, but I only play it if there is a sharpshooter or demolitionist on the team. A sharpshooting big game Hunter and a firebug armed with a flamer is an extremely powerful duo , capable to hold out a choke point with little chance of being overwhelmed

Lvl 4 Spitfires will kill anything but Skrakes & Flesh Pounds with ease. Helios Rifle kills everything period. Full Auto Helios + Zed Time Unlimited Ammo = WIN!

What really needs to be discussed is how to bring the Firebug in line with the other perks. Personally, I think a good way to do that is changing fire mechanics. If a zed is on fire, he should be slower and do less damage. This would enable Firebug to contribute towards large zed takedowns by providing support and also provide additional utility in order to at least have SOMETHING to compare to the utility of the commando and swat (even then it'd likely be worse).

This is the best firebug guide I have seen, it covers pretty much every possible build, thanks! I'll had a few things, you can reload cancel the spitfires, and heatwave is a guaranteed stumble every 3 seconds, It works on raging scrakes and fleshpounds too. Best used as a last resort. Without it, the scrake takedown at the end doesn't work ;)
