Well I have done it again. This one I bought some time again but have only just picked it up. Was this car a manual? Watch to the end VERY INTERESTING!
Sicursiv glass was used by jaguar and Bl in the early 70s due to strikes and problems getting triplex glass. It may have a date code on it - the ‘0’ of the osl suggests it may be 1970 glass but I can’t be sure - this was just a quick google search. I have an early ser1 too but it’s sat outside in uk for years so will need so much welding - yours looks lovely inside and out.
What is it you have got with XJ6's.? Well Mr Lyons stated very clearly that it was the very best car he ever made. I think he drove his until he passed away and he did not trade it for a series 3. I always thought that Pininferrina spoilt the original design of the XJ6. I had a series 1 in the early seventies and it was so far ahead of any other fancy big name cars on the market. Today my XJ6 is a 1996 X330 of which only 203 were made and has done only 95,000klm. Sadly for Jaguar I can not get impressed with their car today. They have lost their niche unique quality and beauty.
I have had an authority on Jaguar look up those chassis numbers and he has indicated that 1L5441DN was a 1969 4.2 manual, and 1L10615BW was a 1970 4.2 Auto. I hope this helps. He also indicated you may be able to date the car by looking at the triplex markings on the windows. Do you know how to read them?
Hi, I have tried to post four messages with links to the triplex code meanings and each one appears to be withdrawn by You Tube. If somehow on your video you can give me an email address, I will try and send it to you via this means. Sorry I can’t do more.
Nice project…. Simplest direction would be to refinish the yellow paint, fit the vinyl roof and some nice Kent alloys. The grey interior would look good if you repainted the body in a 60s Jaguar Gunmetal off the S-type or something. Definitely interesting that you seem to be acquiring mish-mash Series 1s…..
The 5 number LHD VIN numbers start from 50.001 and not 5.000. So this is a correct 1969 RHD 5XXX number VIN Car. Doesn't it confirm this on the heritage document?
Hi Nick Yes you are right!. I was jumping to conclusions, short one digit Will highlight that in next video Thanks for the input. Though no denying it was still a manual car though!
SWB S1 XJ6, Sweet, I've got one of the last 2.8 SWB's S1's ever made, May 1973, It's tucked away in my barn! 👌

Do you have a video on the Fuse box and relay system for this car. It’s to confusing to figure out myself.
Will send one
