Thanks for the assistance on this. I did the two on the passenger side a couple years ago but they were easier. One comment is that I found it helpful to take the cover off my steering column, gave me a better view and another place to work
good video. couple things: on my 13, you have to take off the side plastic piece, kind of by the door frame. then a 20 torx bit for one screw. at that time you can pull off the plastic piece that is where your knees sit. in the bottom corner there is one plastic round clip to remove as well. I found it easiest to push the seat all the way back, and lay on my back while looking up. and use a short stubby phillips screwdriver. you have to install the white arm first. the top part slips onto the gear, and the bottom piece clips into the "slotted" rainbow looking piece. it sits right in the middle of the slot. I had to clip in the connector BEFORE screwing in the actuator. it would not clip in otherwise. make sure to listen to ALL THREE actuators. I had 2 bad ones.
Having this same problem but it's both vents on the driver side of the car (the left vent above the radio and the vent left of the steering wheel). I'm trying to figure out which part I need! Someone on a forum also said to try changing the cabin air filter because theirs was gunked up and it caused the left air vents to blow warm so I'll try that first as it's the least expensive thing to do and mine hasn't been changed in quite a while.
2 years later but thank you! Everyone kept telling me I only had 2 and they are behind my glove box even though the noise was clearly behind my steering wheel!!
It's easier to reach if you go in through the driver door and lay down on your back across the seats (and that @#$% e-brake lever). I fumbled around until I did it that way. Laying down across the seats I was done in, like, 5 minutes.
Not sure if you know why but its worth it to ask, but my top vents won't push air out at all. If I put it on my top vent setting I feel it on my feet mostly and maybe a small amount in the top vents. It's still cold air it just won't come out tho.
I'm not exactly sure what the problem might be, but I wonder if it might be a problem with the position selector on the dash. Like the knob that lets you select where you want the air to come out from.
Yeah it still works today without any problems. At first it kind of made a squeaking noise every time it moved, but over time it stopped. I think I should have put grease on the moving plastic parts that touch
@Clayton Mcdorman can explain that in detail? I'm having this same issue with my driver side blowing hot air. I replaced my actuator and its still blowinv warm. Wondering if my issue is the same as yours
You have GOT to be kidding! You show NOTHING ACCURATE, about removing the cover. There is NO WAY it just came off like that!!! In addition, it takes a T20 AND a T15!
Thank you for showing what this actually does. Been upgrading my car and i think this is what my problem is we'll see!
I watched several videos about this and yours was the most complete!
Thanks so much!

Thanks for the vid man. Helped a lot!
Out of all the vids I watched on this ,your vid helped the most. I did subscribe. Keep up the good work fam.

Or you could remove your glove box like everyone else
@@aviewer5661 not talking about the glove box actuator. There is another one up under the steering wheel on the driver side.
Good vid. Do you have one on changing the other two
Thank you there are 3 of these on a 2012 Dodge Avenger and I replaced al 3 and my a/c and heater works great
Where they all the same part number?
Thank you so much your so much more informative than others. Thank you again.
You're welcome! Glad I could help!
Good job on showing the process, Tobias. Thank you.
Thank you Michael!

any luck? I have the exact same problem
So is the part defective? If yes, what is the best replacement part to purchase?
Thank you sooo much bro ! Same problem same car man grate video
No problem man! Best of luck with your car 🙌
Im having trouble reattaching the arm. Im not sure if i have it in the right position. Any suggestions?
Are all 3 actuators the same part? Advanced auto has it labeled as “main” but mines the one all the way to the right
I'm pretty sure they are all the same part. I'm not exactly sure why it says "main"
yes
I replaced both that were ticking but still warm air .. i have a new ac compressor too and the ac line is frosting… any advice?
2 years later but thank you! Everyone kept telling me I only had 2 and they are behind my glove box even though the noise was clearly behind my steering wheel!!
Oh yeah sounds like you had the same one go out like me!
Thank you.. very helpful instructions
You're welcome! I'm glad it helped 🙂
Did you need a scanner or any process with the buttons?
Nope

This was super helpful because I had no clue the third actuator was in that location behind there wheel. I also thought there were 4 not 3 actuators.
I'm glad it was helpful! 🙌
Do you know if all the actuators are the same ? I know I need 2 but I'm not sure if they are the same part or if they are different
@@swissarmywife2039 I think they are all the same, although, I haven't fully taken the other 2 out to get a good look at them

@@TobiasHolenstein yeah a couple forums also said that too. Thanks for the reply!!
@@Clownprince332 No problem!
You need a mode door actuator.
What setting did you change to test the arm to see if it worked?
Like when I already installed it? I just switched my air conditioner back and forth from hot to cold
Thanks is lot help for me
Hey cool video. Q? U said there r 3 of those r all 3 the same part? Or the other 2 that are located under the glove department r different?
Thanks! I am pretty sure all 3 are the same
My click click is coming from the right side of the radio by the vent, how do I get to it? ive been told blend doors go out quiet often.
I think maybe behind the glove box would be the best way to access. I'm not 100% sure though, I've never had to replace those ones
@@TobiasHolenstein I just traded my Chevy Cruz for a 2012 Dodge Avenger so ill be back :)
My panel isn't popping out like that. I can't find any videos on a 2013 avenger.
Worked on my 07 chrysler sebring.
The black thing with 2 large holes can pop right off if you need more room.
@@bohrokoflight22 Awesome! Good to know thanks!
Great video👌
Thank you :)
Great video, very helpful. Installing now. Lyk if it goes bad
Thanks! Good luck I hope it works out for you!
Que pasa si solo eliminas el actuador o alguien lo ha reparado
How's the repair today? Does the blend door actuator work well ?
Yeah it still works today without any problems. At first it kind of made a squeaking noise every time it moved, but over time it stopped. I think I should have put grease on the moving plastic parts that touch
Muy bueno grasias
Awsome
Thank you!
Buen video 👍👍👍
Gracias 😄
I was able to cheat it and replace the actuator without removing my trim, only to find out the heater core is the cause of the drivers side heat ://
Oh no! That's super unfortunate, sorry to hear that Clayton. Wishing you the best with your car
@Clayton Mcdorman can explain that in detail? I'm having this same issue with my driver side blowing hot air. I replaced my actuator and its still blowinv warm. Wondering if my issue is the same as yours
😊❤
Muy bueno gracias
De nada 🙌
My car blows cold air but when I switch it to heat it stays blowing cold air
Only thing I didn't like was you spent half the video talking (3:27) before getting to the nitty gritty.
Tip, don't talk so fast in your videos.. my ears lol
Sorry lol. For this video maybe it will help if you put playback speed to 0.75 😅
You have GOT to be kidding! You show NOTHING ACCURATE, about removing the cover. There is NO WAY it just came off like that!!! In addition, it takes a T20 AND a T15!
What year do you have? I have an 08, maybe it's different on yours
