Since I was a student in university I dreamed of having a clinic focused exclusively on menopause and educating people about it. It's such a taboo in many countries and societies. Like this woman says, life doesn't end when we get into menopause, it's another stage of life. I'm 35 now, and I promise one day I'll have my clinic with specialist to educate and give the right therapy and help to actually learn to accept and make the best of this part of our lives as women when we get to it.

If you need a Respiratory therapist, I am up for the challenge. On my 40’s and occasionally having some stressful period moments, single mothers might get affected more often with symptoms because of the extra stress add on, so this kind of spaces should very well receive by single woman who is aging. Just a thought.

I love menopause!! I suffered every month with super painful period cramps and heavy bleeding. And terrible mental health the week before. Plus from childhood onwards I was already sweaty and overheated easily. I suffered loads of symptoms during menopause, but they all went away when I radically changed my diet and lifestyle trying to improve other chronic health issues (it worked and I'm far far into health recovery). I gave up processed food, sugar, fruit, and starchy carbs; improved my sleep, stress processing, breathing and airways, movement and sunlight exposure. So grateful for new health and vitality at 59 💥

This is a bit sugar coated. Hot flashes and not being able to sleep is horrid, especially when I had to still go to work in the morning. It included a mental decline. Weight issues started. It charges your physical appearance with graying hair (which I don’t mind)..Changes relationships at work & home. Changes sleep patterns. Chocolate, wine & coffee made symptoms FAR worse. Had to research to find that info. The process Lasted 10 years which isn’t talked about.. And after this is when breast cancer occurred, for me which I’m pretty sure was hormone related. So personally I’d rather have kept having periods. Menopause is NOT a piece of cake.

Every person has a unique experience during this process. I wish there was more information available, these are things we should be taught early in life to prepare for it, at least mentally, and understand what our bodies are going through 🙏🏾

My menstrual cycle was easy ( 3-4days, easy flow, no cramps) coming on the dot. Now I’m 50 and in menopause for almost 3 years, however peri menopause started five years prior. Hot flashes, night sweats where I change my pajamas 2-3 times per night, leg cramps, mood swings, depression.
It’s an awful experience and still going. My mom is 70 and still doesn’t leave the house without a change of clothes in her handbag.
I bought in Romania some natural pills called Climenum and drinking sage tea and I’m improving.
Also I quit smoking few years back.

While many symptoms of menopause go away after the transition it is important to know, that with increased age and ongoing estrogen loss 70 % of women will develope vaginal atrophy, the thinning and basically falling apart of the skin in the vagina and vulva. Local estrogens are harmless for most of the female population. When you go through menopause and develope reacuring utis, pain with urination, burning and itching of vulva and vagina and painfull intercourse, dont hesitate and get the treatment you deserve. Speak with your gynocologist about vaginal atrophy.

If I could go back and do it over again, I would have gotten on HRT the minute my symptoms occurred. it bothers me that women aren’t being taught what symptoms of menopause are. Agreed. I was diagnosed with “Primary Ovarian Insufficiency” at 27. Regardless of the terminology used I experienced a nightmarish speed run through menopause. It was devastating both mentally and physically. Apparently Osteoporosis was hard at work behind the scenes, chipping away at my lumbar spine and hip. I had to start on medication to prevent more damage. The cognitive decline was also traumatic. Before my OBGYN tested and diagnosed me I went for a neuro eval because I thought I had premature dementia. I had no idea estrogen played such a vital role outside reproduction. My ovaries have become very small and there is concern about leaving them where they are as they could possibly cause trouble. I know I’ll be on carefully regulated HRT for the next 20 years, but the future is a little scary because there isn’t a lot of research on this condition (yet). Sorry you are also part of this group. I hope you have a good support network. I have come to terms better with it now, but one of the worst parts was having nobody my age to talk to about what was happening and how I was feeling. Take care ❤️

    Hi Dr Gunter
I have an 8 year old daughter. She just started growing underarm hair. One of her 8 year old female friends on the other hand hasn't started growing armpit hair, however has grown pubic hair and has had a period. So now I'm kinda freaking out in my mind thinking is my daughter going to start her period soon. I don't recall when I started my period however I'm pretty sure it was no where near 8 year old. I think years later.
Are there things causing earlier periods that we can try to avoid? I sure hope so.

Couple of questions... if you have millions of eggs at birth and ovulate and menstruate 400 times in your life (presuming no hormonal birth control of pregnancies) how can you run out by 45? 1,000,000 minus 400 eggs equals more or less one million.
Second question: if you are on the hormonal birth control, you never ovulate and also never technically menstruate (although you might have breakthrough bleeding if you take a week off or even if you don't). So how do you know when it's been a year since you last menstruated when you never menstruated if you took the pill for decades without ever taking a week off? And theoretically, your 400 fresh eggs wouldn't have fallen over your lifetime had you ovulated or menstruated.

It ain't mandatory, of course: Neither to become a toxic, asexual manhater, nor to leave a woman going through menopause. It is, though, nothing only one goes through and the other had to endure all of that crap no matter what: relationships consist of TWO people. One turning into a toxic hater does affect the other, who is free to leave the recently turned toxic, manhating one without regrets or even feeling bad.

It's a delicate matter, and it isn't easily combed all with the same brush.
It is, though, pretty important to see not only the single one side of the "menopause-equation" but watch carefully what *_the other part_* is going through, too.
Lots of lots of insults and aggressions and condemning of those who can not bare the new, manhating phase of their formerly beloved partner and thus draw the conclusion to better change their lives and turn towards someone *_not_* hating, constantly menacing and bullying them - it is unfair, unwanted and unnecessary to call the leaving one the culprit, as it's usually done.

With that said… I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I eat clean, I stack probiotics and I have been strength training for over 10yrs… this DOES not make much of a difference in my symptoms. My hot flashes are 5yrs in and have progressively increased in intensity , sometimes a couple an hour, but definitely every hour and they follow either a min or so of either anxiety, nausea or heart palpitations. Night sweats yep, lack of sleep yep, spare tire around my belly, pisses me off, especially considering how hard I work at the gym. Skin looks horrible, I don’t want to leave the house, I don’t want to talk to anyone and don’t even think about touching me, I may kill you.
