Today I'm taking a look at the three Powerpuff Girls games on GameBoy Color from the late 90s. Are they worse than the new reboot? Let's find out!

I was made fun of a lot when I was young, because I liked The Powerpuff Girls (despite being a boy) quite a bit.
Fast-forward to earlier this year, when I found out the show was on Netflix. I binge-watched it faster than any other show in my life. It was enough to prove to me, even at the age of 24, a male can still enjoy the series. I wish we had more like it.
Good news! It's an entire genre in anime! :p

Strangely enough no one seemed to even notice that PPG was a shown created for little girls. No one cared for anyone liking that show. Looking back at it as an adult... Yeah, it has some of the biggest innuendos EVER xD

Get cho' facts straight
Back in the day, they never even sold the Bubbles version in stores. It is still difficult to find, and while there were lps and footage of Blossom and Buttercup’s game, there were only a couple of videos of the first level in Bubble’s game. Having *finally* seeing snippets of Bubble’s game, particularly the Kindergarden’s boss softlock, and museum’s glitch and boss fight, I can see why the Bubble’s game was not on store shelves back then.
I’m glad to have seen some of it though.

I watched a walkthrough, and for the Mime battle, there's a pathway in the ceiling. You're supposed to take it, then fly through it until you loop around behind Mime, then punch him.
RIP George Jetson. He fell off a platform and died. He shall be missed.

The original PPG Gameboy color games were indeed bad, but it seems like nobody ever talks about the Gameboy Advance game "Him and Seek." It's an action RPG and it is truly a phenomenal game. It captures the show's essence perfectly, and has fun gameplay to boot.
Also reboot sucks ass. Long live the original show.
I had that one and for the GBC I had the Buttercup and Bubbles games lol
I had that one. Him and Seek. It was pleasantly good. There was that other PPG GBA game Mojo A Go Go something like that. Though I never played that one. It's like an auto scroller shooter type thing.
I can't remember which GBA Powerpuff game it was that had a couple Frogger segments

I can't imagine how long this video took to make you had to beat all three of these super hard games get all this footage look through footage of three games script it this was a great video and so worth the wait I really liked this style of video :)

16:16 hit home with me xD I've only ever played and owned the Bubbles version (they were selling just that one when my local Blockbuster was closing) I had no idea all 3 were supposed to be played together. Makes sense though, keeping with the theme of the 3 girls being together from the show.
And going back to that sand castle part in the Bubbles game; yes I did that the first time, I got 'locked out' from the castle because I didn't notice the dog the first time around - These games were ridiculous.

I'm surprised you didn't mentioned the sound design. I really hated that as a kid, in particular when the girls get hit.
The video is already 25 minutes long, but that was one of the things that's pretty terrible that I didn't have time to mention. The sound effects are bizarrely quiet, you can only hear most of them if you have the music turned off, and the music is all kind of around the same pitch and gets pretty irritating. Theres like, maybe one decent song in the whole game. And I usually love the GameBoy Color sound engine.

tamashii i love your videos whenever I'm upset I watch one and it cheers me up because of your positivity.
Having programmed game AI, it is really hard to write good attack code that neither pathetically misses nor always hits. As you mentioned about budget and who is behind it, it makes sense that its pretty terribly written.

battle him (the bubbles version) was the first video game my parents ever bought me. I remember spending weeks on that first level, but I never gave up! I think I was 4 years old haha. thanks for visiting this series, it brought back a lot of great memories and nostalgia.

I'm so glad you went over these, I had paint the Townsville green! I loved that game, but thinking back- it was a love hate relationship. That pathway in the 4th level in the city, took me years to conquer as a kid.

Her speech at the beginning was so genuine that, I legit thought she didn't even see the reboot.
One neat glitch in these games works like this. Play as the Mayor, go to a stage with the cyclops tentical giant. Let it grab you. I guess there isn't a sprite for when the Mayor is grabbed, because it cause the game to glitch unlocking everything, though you can play the extras stages this way because they're glitched.
So what happens if you collect all of the collectables, beat the game, and then beat the extra levels?
I'm not sure honestly. Early copies of the games have save batteries, so there's much more incentive to actually 100% it. Later copies had the batteries removed to cut costs and default to a password system, which kills the fun of collecting everything. The ones I could find all had the batteries removed, so I never bothered trying.

If you want to see a TV show with a main protagonist that's a girl, watch RWBY, it has all the charms of Powerpuff Girls, but with weapons!

The story went in the originally intended direction. They always wanted this epic story with highs and lows, and season 3 was mean t to be a low.

Also, another thing. Isn't Buttercup's voice lower than Blossom's, and Bubbles's is higher, so their screams should be lower and higher respectively.

Wow these are so nostalgic to me, I used to play them all of time when I was little, I didn't have the bubbles games so I never got to play that one but I did play the buttercup game the most.
My god, Tamashii looks damn amazing with blue hair! Keep it up! (The videos are also insanely informative. I like a video that bloats you with information and leaves you feeling smarter.)

Teen titans go is not bad it is just different from the original it's more for kids and so it's funny (whenever I watch it I always smile and become happy) and you should happy they brought teen titans back! 😡
Teen titans go is actually pretty funny. I think ppl hate it because it's like taking the original TT in vain, making it all bright and colorful but actually it is pretty funny show. I can understand because Sonic boom makes sonic and his stupid in that show because older fans are use to a serious sonic franchise. And I'm guy who grew up with the 90s games and shows.

I remember seeing a commercial for the Bubbles game when I was younger. Though, I never played it or the others. The Powerpuff Girls along with Dexter's Laboratory and Ed Edd, n Eddy were my favorite shows on Cartoon Network when I was younger and I still enjoy them.

Back in the day Tamashi was one of the channels i look forward to seeing vids everyday. Her pokemon vids were old school amazing! Surprised she wasn't into the whole pokemon go! fad recently when her channel was basically everything about the pokemon games. Now she barely uploads :(

my god, I totally forgot about how hard this game was. I played them when I was little with my sister and we used to help each other out with it. I don't remember it being SO hard. I mean, we never beat the whole thing, but that's because we moved and lost our copies. But I remember playing it ALOT when I had it. Same with a lot of license titles. I had a handful of fairly odd parents games, the SpongeBob movie game, treasure planet, Nemo, return to neverland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I find it funny when people rag on license titles because I loved these games growing up. I've heard people say that license titles turned off kids from gaming because of how bad they were. Well, I'm still here, still playing games. I agree the way they made these games was just out of greed usually, but I still got some enjoyment out of them. I wish I still had some of them so I could go back and play them again to see if they really were that bad. But even if I did, that still doesn't change the fact that I remember them so fondly.

Hey, I've tuned into your channel from time to time since wayyyyyyy back when you were doing Pokemon Hack videos, and I just wanted to say that it's awesome to have seem how much you and the channel have grown over time. Though I can't say that you're my most-watched channel, you're definitely one of the oldest channels that I've subscribed too and it's interesting to have been able to see how it's changed over the years. It's almost completely unrecognizable from before.

It's sorta impressive that these shovelware games had a password system to connect the games like the Zelda Oracle games, even if the reward isn't worth it like in the Oracle games

Ah, I'm so excited to see your newest video with the new branding, etc. I was an early 2000's kid, not a 90's kid, so it's cool when I can see what kinds of games and things came along before I was old enough to enjoy them. I did watch PPG on TV when it was on, though. Also, I have to give you a little virtual applause for beating all those stupid-hard levels - I would be so frustrated with some of that stuff ; ;
I did find a way to beat the GGG in the last level.
1. Use the Chemical X on Snake and punch him til he's out. Punch Grubber without the X, and go up before he licks or spits.
2. Use the Hotlines on Lil. Arturo which will knock him out. And use the X on Billy, to freeze him and punch him. But stay out his way, because he can still kill you.
3. I just go crazy with the X and hotlines for Ace. But watch out for his baseball bat and ball, that will of course hurt.
Whenever I played the Bubbles version as a kid, the game would immediately crash during the Art Museum boss fight and state that the game only runs on Gameboy Color. I have no idea what kind of lazy hack the programmer did to make the colors go to black and white, but apparently it confused the console checking system. How did you not get that glitch? What console/emulator were you playing on?
omfg are you serious? That actually happened on the first copy of the game I bought. The cart was not in great shape so I chalked it up to some kind of contact error and bought another copy assuming it was not a glitch. I didn't realize that was an actual glitch in the game, if the video wasn't already so long I would have mentioned it.
a while ago u made a video about mysterys in pokemon, but comments where disabled, I just wanted to tell u that the 2 girls talking about heatran was a translation error. in Japanese, the first girl does an impression of heatrans cry, and the second one comments on the impression, saying it's "just as if the lava dome pokemon were siting in the middle of the plaza, because her impression was aperantly THAT good
