A great short video! We had major sensor issues and that 'bonging' drove us crazy! Turned out there was air in the system ( using coolant due to a sunk in liner). Finally had a inframe done (which it was time), but ended up unplugging the sensor as it was driving us crazy! Threw a check engine code which was fine instead going insane!" The 'ghetto ' magnet idea is awesome! We must do what we must do to keep those tires turning. Thanks for the video.
I have a 2020 T680 with a x15. Is it normal for the coolant level on the reservoir to come down to the minimum mark (sometimes a little lower) and sometimes to the full mark?
Not a sensor issues. So I talk to mechanics that had issues with a peterbilt that did this. My peterbilt did this. Im glad I called these particular mechanics. So "get ready" The mechanics told me they tested the radiator as a whole. They told me that while testing it, they used water at first. They said the float inside the reservoir didn't float while it was in water. So they used heavy duty 50-50 radiator fluid. The float still didn't float. So then they used fluid that was 70/30. It started floating. The prognosis is that you don't use 50/50 in peterbilts. Something is funny about the floats inside the reservoirs. Use a 70/30 mix and stop buying new reservoirs. Chances are it's going to do it again. Simply because of the float inside.
