    May have been mentioned already but a little pro-tip I learned when doing anything like this is to take photos on your phone of everything as you disassemble it as it helps if you get stuck on reassembly. Great video though. Many thanks

    Links to Autoexe steering wheel's in video description are fixed. I also added a link to the new Corksport wheel for the 2010-2013 Mazda 3 & Speed 3.

      +everythingdiy Just on looking at it, what do you think of the Corksport wheel? Would you have gone with it if it were available to you at the time you purchased the current one? I just bought a MS3 and the one thing that bugs me about is actually the stock wheel. Its just too thin for my tastes so its likely one of the first mods i will do to it.

    • @everythingdiy
      @everythingdiy  8 років тому

      Yes pretty easy if the tie rods aren't bent. You can loosen the tie rods on each side an spin them in the opposite direction a quarter turn, then you tighten the tie rods back up go for a short drive and see where the wheel is. If it's still off you can loosen and spin the tie rods again another quarter turn then test drive. You do this over and over until your steering wheel is straight. Be careful and make sure when you spin each tie rod the exact same amount or your alignment will be off.

    So, I have the second gen Mazda3 in i-Sport sedan 5-spd trim. Love it. 99,000 miles in 4 years and no hiccups. Stayed away from the Speed3 because I can't afford to pay the tickets. Anyway, my car did not come with Cruise Control. I don't plant to get rid of the car, but I would like some nice features. The 2nd gen uses throttle by wire. Corksport released a new wheel for the last gen Mazda which i want to install. if I were to buy another mazda wheel with the cruise controls, could I just install it onto the new wheel (or my current wheel) and use it? Like just "plug and play"

    Yo DIY, I know this vid is 6 years ago but did you ever do a video or have footage of you using the flat bottom wheel ? The GF just bought a 2013 Mazda 3 and I'm thinking of upgrading the narrow stock wheel with the CorkSport for better feel and ergonomics but I'm worried about the flat bottom for her as a fairly new driver. (I've never used one either) I can't find any videos thus far of people actually going through daily maneuvers with a flat bottom and talking about any pros/cons if there are any about them vs a round wheel. Thanks so much, and if anyone else reading this has a link of content of people using flat bottoms, please help out :) Thanks :D

  • @nms789
    @nms789 9 років тому +2

    Just maybe a few things: it is a good measure to use a fresh Loctite on the securing screw, and holding the wheel when tightening the screw, do not rely on the steering lock, the torque needed could easily damage it.

    • @everythingdiy
      @everythingdiy  9 років тому +5

      +nms789 35 ft lbs in the center of a steering wheel is hardly enough force to cause any damage to a steering wheel lock. More forces are placed on the wheel when using it to reposition yourself in your seat or get out of the car. In fact, during our entire install the forces used to remove and install the securing bolt never put enough pressure to even engage the wheel lock. If it did of course I would have held it in place. Additionally, our repair manual did not specify the need to reapply thread locker, the same with the Corksport install guide. Thanks for watching!

    • @Pinkielover
      @Pinkielover 2 роки тому

      Loctite is unnecessary if you notice the wheel has pins that actually Prevent the wheel from ever spinning out of place both itself is 35 foot pounds no way it’s gonna come loose

Would you suggest a front sway bar with a top strut bar. I haven't seen you post a video of front sway bar install, wondering if its needed. I'm definitely going to upgrade the rear sway bar with better end-links, and upgrade the RMM. Also, any opinions of Coilovers? Thank you. Keep up the Great Work.
