yes, me too. It's heartbreaking to see how she feels so self-conscious in front of Hyakkimaru because he can see the color of the souls. Poor Mio, one's body being dirty does not mean one's soul being dirty too, especially she's forcing herself to do it for the kids.

It's not like he's never written mature stories with something depicted as more heinous than Mio prostituting herself. Like it's already hinted throughout the episode, and she's someone who has to take care of these orphans. Being a peasant who's living in 15th - 16th century Japan, with the samurai basically taking anything that you'd have for themselves, in Sengoku era no less, it makes sense that this is the only option where she can afford food and medicine. What else could she do? She isn't Osushi who used to be a noble and thus could afford to do something else. She has nothing and was given nothing, this is her only option. If anything this is just for the show to emphasize of how terrible the war affects the people. That they were forced to do things they didn't even want to do just to survive. Like this war was warlords dicking with each other with civillians slaughtered wily nily that lasted for almost 2 centuries. Mio's case was sadly very common those days.

And this time to get his voice back a flower girl ( Japanese slang for prostitute ) who he has been in contact with is quiet about her true profession and has the ability to speak out and make noise but really have no choice to utter or make any sound because that's the only thing she can do to survive.. which is why they show him screaming in agony because at that moment he shared that pain with her for the price of getting his voice back

I like this because instead of making the protagonist stronger while fighting/slaying monster o stuff, he gains more and more of his senses that at the beggining are weakneses or it seems that way, can't wait for more episodes and watch how he overcomes that

i'm a regular on pornhub and even i didn't think there was much to the river scene or that she was washing her lady parts. too many spoiled manga peeps acting like they snowflakes for guessing the meaning of that scene right away. i only started questioning when they showed her walking to "work" without any shoes on and my thought was, "shouldn't she have on at least straw sandals to be running around doing stuff for the samurais...?" now i know why she didn't need sandals for her "work".

The staging in this episode was awesome. We can also notice that while the girl sings to dissociate herself from her work (it was obvious), Hyakimaru screams. Whoever sees the soul of people screams for more than the loss of his leg but it's like the soul of the girl screaming in pain through him. PS : The first thing newborns hear for the first time (most by time) is the sweet voice of a mother and Hyakinmaru again has this soft voice, for the first time since birth.

Hyakkimaru has always had that kind of aura, in the first episode when he's a baby, the priest is unsure if he's a ghoul, but he comes to the conclusion it's a cursed aura
This episode bothered me a lot when I first watched it yesterday. There's no comparable loss in the old anime or the manga (Hyakkimaru never had to deal with losing his leg *again*, Jesus Christ), so I was kind of at a loss for what to think. Hasn't Hyakkimaru been through enough!? But, the more I thought about it, I realized that both the old anime and manga treat this arc as the most tragic, because it treats a theme that is sometimes difficult to forget when watching Hyakkimaru slice and dice the hell out of demons: Hyakkimaru is a child who is growing up. He has been isolated by Jukai (and to a lesser extent, the blind samurai) and his disabilities up to this point, and the learning process for him is steep and painful. The lesson here is that what is regained can be lost again. It's true, but painful. This theme shows up again with Mio (Hyakkimaru with a music crush is adorable) in that she protects the innocent children in a way that most of society would consider tarnishing and corrupt. Mio lost her innocence to protect the innocence of others. Hyakkimaru lost the leg he regained, but learned that even humans who are whole can lose everything. The episode still makes me sad, but I like what it's trying to say and trust the adapters of the original to keep doing a good job. Hyakkimaru didn't have a leg before, and he survived just fine. I am still looking forward to the next one.
I like dororo, but this episode was way tough... Mio prostituting, even if I could tell due to the situation and logic somehow I didn't want to believe and then we had that scene. Thankfully, it didn't show nothing at all and I can't say she's dirty, cuz' she's doing all she can for those kids. It's not like I'd never seen prostitution in anime, but this time it really saddened my heart. And for a plus there is Hyakkimaru losing his leg again... so what now... prosthetics again?
I'm pretty positive that he got his voice back from the bird at the beginning of the episode, but he just didn't know that he had it back since he doesn't know how to use his voice and it's a voluntary sense rather than hearing or pain which are reactions. The demon he fought in the pit didn't die because it went back underground so the only logical way for him to have gotten his voice back was from the bird demon from the beginning of the episode, and also, he did freeze up after they killed the demon so maybe that was him feeling like he gained something back but he just didn't know what.
To spice things up heres a game: You will be able to find out what hyakkimaru's next body part will be ad all that will just be in the series itself, like really in the show, its just right there plain and open. Your challenge is to find out what he gets next and bet on it till the end refferring to the hint you took. Then explain why that hint got you to think why he gets the next body pary.😆😆😆 (im not kidding. It happened all t hrough out the episodes. 1 was when he was called doll face, 2 was when he was stabed and dororo asked if he felt that, 3 was when jukai's apprentice took off his prosthetic leg, then 4, the girl telling dororo that hyakkimaru is listening to rain. ) Enjoy!!!!

The bird at the start WAS a demon, Hyakkimaru gained his voice then, he only used it when he felt pain. He also doesn't have to kill a demon for it to be destroyed and his body part to come back

Hyakkimaru regain his voice from the bird demon, not the beetle demon. The beetle demon took his leg, and dororo regain it from killing it He got his voice for awhile but doesn't know how to use it. Losing his leg triggered a natural instict, to scream
I wasn’t really surprised by Hyakkimaru losing his leg mainly because he was literally a head and a torso of flesh when he was born and he’s slowly growing his body parts back and he got his voice in exchange for his leg so thats a plus.. i guess... but now hes gonna have to learn how to speak Japanese since the only thing he knows how to do is fight
12:14 Actually, he is shown crying in the episode six preview, so apparently despite not having real eyes Hyakkimaru still has functioning tearducts. Unless that's a part he gets back in the next episode it appears that it's one of the few things the demons DIDN'T take from Hyakkimaru. That was the case in the original manga too

He technically got back his voice when the demon bird is killed, judging logically he is unable to speak or hear human voices since birth, so he is unable to pronounce any voice eventhough he had got it back The clue is that this episode card is the demon bird
After reading a lot of comments, especially on the Reddit discussions, and looking back at the OP which makes much more sense now, even watching the episode over and looking at the preview for next weeks episode, I’m 95% sure Mio is gonna kick the bucket. Like the way the story has been going so far, it seems unlikely that she wouldn’t die, sad to say. People have already been speculating that he’ll probably get his eyesight back next week and the first thing he will see if her dying in his arms, or her dead body. Sadly, I can totally see that happening, and it just makes her story all the more sadder if that does come to pass.
i think he already had a voice when he got his face back, he just doesn't speak because he doesn't know too. but at that ending when his leg was chopped off he scream because of the pain that he never felt before
No, he got his feeling back after. Plus, he also put his foot over the fire in an earlier episode and then grabbed it like he was in pain but he didn't scream/yell.
There's no way he had a voice prior to losing his leg. Just exerting himself while fighting would force him to make sound. At least grunts and such, especially when striking, and taking blows that force air out of him. The voice would just naturally engage with the expulsion of air. You would be hard pressed to exert yourself without a sound while consciously trying, let alone without being aware that trying to is even an option.
I was wondering the whole Episode why she had her hair open like that. I guess i ignored the other hints because I really didnt want it to be true. But I thought "man, they are pretty decent with portraying life in old Japan... Would a peasant girl really wear her hair like that!? The wealthy girl from last episode made sure to cover her head while she was traveling..." Guess that was supposed to be a hint at her occupation too..

They did killed a demon... The bird one. But Hyakkimaru didn't now how to talk or express with sounds. The pain was the moment where he revels he already recovered his voice in the last battle not because he want but because all the pain he suffered in the end of this episode.
You also missed her soft signing during her ordeal with the soldiers. The scene might have been more effective if the camera frame was a few seconds longer. It was also heart wrenching for Dorror as he became educated about the horrors of war, hunger and amputees is fraction of the reality of war.
He got his voice back by killing the bird in the beginning of the episode. No one realize it because it's not an external thing and he never speaks in his life so he wouldn't know how to speak. Also at the end of each episode there's endcard of which of the 12 demons got killed.
My first reaction when I heard Mio sing in the river was "is that Nana Mizuki? OH MY GOD, IS NANA MIZUKI!" (I'm a big fan of hers) so I was pretty happy and loved her character immediately. So when I watched the last 2 minutes I was SO sad, that I also missed the fact that Hyakkimaru got his voice back until like 10 seconds later, lol.
Reaction was priceless guys and that revelation at the end OMG. I figured that's what Mio was doing from jump but was holding onto hope that she wasn't. At least they don't shy away from the horrors of war. Things like that happened and are still going on in the world today.

The demon died. It probably took some time. The demon managed to take hyakki's leg, and yeah, he twitches and stuff when he gets a body part back, but the level of pain when getting your leg ripped off can easily mask that small pain.
Here a tip for you guys: You know that we got Dororo, Mob and Slime in Monday right? well, i suggest you watch Dororo first since it is the darkest among the three.. then you can watch the other two to brighten your Monday back. Lol.

This episode bothered me a lot when I first watched it yesterday. There's no comparable loss in the old anime or the manga (Hyakkimaru never had to deal with losing his leg *again*, Jesus Christ), so I was kind of at a loss for what to think. Hasn't Hyakkimaru been through enough!? But, the more I thought about it, I realized that both the old anime and manga treat this arc as the most tragic, because it treats a theme that is sometimes difficult to forget when watching Hyakkimaru slice and dice the hell out of demons: Hyakkimaru is a child who is growing up. He has been isolated by Jukai (and to a lesser extent, the blind samurai) and his disabilities up to this point, and the learning process for him is steep and painful. The lesson here is that what is regained can be lost again. It's true, but painful. This theme shows up again with Mio (Hyakkimaru with a music crush is adorable) in that she protects the innocent children in a way that most of society would consider tarnishing and corrupt. Mio lost her innocence to protect the innocence of others. Hyakkimaru lost the leg he regained, but learned that even humans who are whole can lose everything.
The episode still makes me sad, but I like what it's trying to say and trust the adapters of the original to keep doing a good job. Hyakkimaru didn't have a leg before, and he survived just fine. I am still looking forward to the next one.

I like dororo, but this episode was way tough... Mio prostituting, even if I could tell due to the situation and logic somehow I didn't want to believe and then we had that scene. Thankfully, it didn't show nothing at all and I can't say she's dirty, cuz' she's doing all she can for those kids. It's not like I'd never seen prostitution in anime, but this time it really saddened my heart. And for a plus there is Hyakkimaru losing his leg again... so what now... prosthetics again?

I'm pretty positive that he got his voice back from the bird at the beginning of the episode, but he just didn't know that he had it back since he doesn't know how to use his voice and it's a voluntary sense rather than hearing or pain which are reactions. The demon he fought in the pit didn't die because it went back underground so the only logical way for him to have gotten his voice back was from the bird demon from the beginning of the episode, and also, he did freeze up after they killed the demon so maybe that was him feeling like he gained something back but he just didn't know what.

So my thought is that he got his voice back from that bird but since he was never able to speak he probably didn’t even realized before he lost his leg

The bird at the start WAS a demon, Hyakkimaru gained his voice then, he only used it when he felt pain. He also doesn't have to kill a demon for it to be destroyed and his body part to come back

I wasn’t really surprised by Hyakkimaru losing his leg mainly because he was literally a head and a torso of flesh when he was born and he’s slowly growing his body parts back and he got his voice in exchange for his leg so thats a plus.. i guess... but now hes gonna have to learn how to speak Japanese since the only thing he knows how to do is fight

12:14 Actually, he is shown crying in the episode six preview, so apparently despite not having real eyes Hyakkimaru still has functioning tearducts. Unless that's a part he gets back in the next episode it appears that it's one of the few things the demons DIDN'T take from Hyakkimaru. That was the case in the original manga too

After reading a lot of comments, especially on the Reddit discussions, and looking back at the OP which makes much more sense now, even watching the episode over and looking at the preview for next weeks episode, I’m 95% sure Mio is gonna kick the bucket. Like the way the story has been going so far, it seems unlikely that she wouldn’t die, sad to say. People have already been speculating that he’ll probably get his eyesight back next week and the first thing he will see if her dying in his arms, or her dead body. Sadly, I can totally see that happening, and it just makes her story all the more sadder if that does come to pass.
i think he already had a voice when he got his face back, he just doesn't speak because he doesn't know too. but at that ending when his leg was chopped off he scream because of the pain that he never felt before
No, he got his feeling back after. Plus, he also put his foot over the fire in an earlier episode and then grabbed it like he was in pain but he didn't scream/yell.
If he couldn't speak I'm pretty sure he would have tried and he would at least make a noise kind of like when deaf people are speaking or try to speak
There's no way he had a voice prior to losing his leg. Just exerting himself while fighting would force him to make sound. At least grunts and such, especially when striking, and taking blows that force air out of him. The voice would just naturally engage with the expulsion of air.
You would be hard pressed to exert yourself without a sound while consciously trying, let alone without being aware that trying to is even an option.

I was wondering the whole Episode why she had her hair open like that. I guess i ignored the other hints because I really didnt want it to be true.
But I thought "man, they are pretty decent with portraying life in old Japan... Would a peasant girl really wear her hair like that!? The wealthy girl from last episode made sure to cover her head while she was traveling..." Guess that was supposed to be a hint at her occupation too..

They did killed a demon... The bird one. But Hyakkimaru didn't now how to talk or express with sounds. The pain was the moment where he revels he already recovered his voice in the last battle not because he want but because all the pain he suffered in the end of this episode.
You also missed her soft signing during her ordeal with the soldiers. The scene might have been more effective if the camera frame was a few seconds longer. It was also heart wrenching for Dorror as he became educated about the horrors of war, hunger and amputees is fraction of the reality of war.
He got his voice back by killing the bird in the beginning of the episode. No one realize it because it's not an external thing and he never speaks in his life so he wouldn't know how to speak. Also at the end of each episode there's endcard of which of the 12 demons got killed.

My first reaction when I heard Mio sing in the river was "is that Nana Mizuki? OH MY GOD, IS NANA MIZUKI!" (I'm a big fan of hers) so I was pretty happy and loved her character immediately. So when I watched the last 2 minutes I was SO sad, that I also missed the fact that Hyakkimaru got his voice back until like 10 seconds later, lol.

Reaction was priceless guys and that revelation at the end OMG. I figured that's what Mio was doing from jump but was holding onto hope that she wasn't. At least they don't shy away from the horrors of war. Things like that happened and are still going on in the world today.

I sometimes imagin what kind of feelings one would have when he gains his missing sense for the first time in his life.
The demon died. It probably took some time. The demon managed to take hyakki's leg, and yeah, he twitches and stuff when he gets a body part back, but the level of pain when getting your leg ripped off can easily mask that small pain.
