Fun fact,im not sure if u have notice, hyakimaru head was supposed to be sacrificed too ,however instead of his head, the buddha statue's head was sacrificed in his first episode. One of the demon failed to acquired his head and gave him the chance to revenge and take back those had been taken from him.
Hyakkimaru saw that Dororo's flame became dull as she got sad (which is why he was staring at her), so he told her his name, which cheered her up
.
Can't believe I'm only noticing this now.
Oh yea you are so smart
Didn't villager call Dororo boy?
@@principleshipcoleoid8095 Dororo is a girl pretending to be a boy, the reason will be revealed later.
ABC XYZ i’ve read it a long time aho but i’m pretty sure he was a boy in the manga wasn’t he?
@@lifestylegb9441 No, Dororo is a girl lol. I think it was revealed around chapter 30 in the manga. She is just pretending to be a boy.
I think what the Bandai was talking about is that the demons didn't get everything. Remember in the 1st episode, Hyakkimaru was suppose to be dead, but the divine statue saved him by directing one of the lightnings towards itself. Which is why it's head was missing, meaning that the demons wanted to take Hyakkimaru's head as well.
And yes, his nervous system is now back, so he's now able to feel the wound on his chest.

Its so cool seeing Tofu so enthusiastic about a show, and who can blame her, I've really been enjoying Dororo so far.
If only she liked Mob Psycho as much ;-;
Tofu does enjoy mob psycho especially season 2, she just in love with dororo right now lol
@@Kimchi_Bbang understandable tbh
I find mob kinda boring
Ur comparing mob to this? Lol.mob is overrated
@@thuglyfe709 wouldn't say it's overrated or underrated. But you can't deny that the source material contains multiple layers and themes while taking the route of an overpowered MC in a new fresh way.
In Japanese mythology there's something called a "Tsukumogami". It is an old/antique/beloved object that managed to aquire a soul due to the feelings of its owner(s). Tsukumogami can either be bad or good, sometimes cursing their owners if they are left, thrown away or forgotten. In my country (Philippines) when an object that belongs to a certain person breaks for no reason, it's considered a bad omen, in Japan however it's believed that the object (tsukumogami) sacrificed itself/its soul to protect you from harm.
Your reactions are so genuine and funny p.s cant wait for the The Promised Neverland episode 2 reaction, found your channel through the first episode.. keep growing rooting for yall
Thank you so much!
I'm guessing the first victim that was killed by Bandai took that bigh-headed monster form as a sort of manifestation of his soul being cursed.
He can't rest in peace knowing the demon lives on to eat other poor souls like him, so he continued to stay in the land of the living trying to save others.
Although even if he's finally found peace thanks to Hyakkimaru and Dororo, it looks like the linger of guilt for killing him will remain with the villagers.
A reminder of their sins of greed at the expense of other people's lives.
Could it be? Is Tofu finally full invested in a series? We've peaked, I'm glad you are reacting to this one, keep the great job.
Nervous system back, what an unlucky thing to have returned second lol
Well at least he got his skin first, imagine it was the first thing to gain aka the pain from your clothes and even the slighest wind touching your muscles...ouch
Politically InCorrect Being Yeah very true lol
We actually never know what he got first, in the first episode it was shown that he got the skin from his face, but we have to remember he was born without skin through his whole body, you also can notice he already has one of his legs. You can see it by the difference in color and also on the scene he is fishing you can see the two very different knees
It would be worse if Hyakkimaru got his eyes first.
@@politicallyincorrectbeing8201 that sounds so painful. God really created us beautifully lol.

Also the Openings their all FIRE!!! this year is already starting great
I immediately fell in love with dororo from episode 1. The complexity of the story and the feels the op gives me. Only 2 episodes in and it's already my second favourite ongoing anime (first being my hero academia)
You guys have the most "enjoyable to watch" reactions, they're so genuine i love it! keep it up please!
Hyakki maru can get close to the human, but also he's getting weaker and weaker. This system proves why Dororo is so awsome!! Sorry for my poor English 😅
That's what I was thinking that the more parts he gets the harder it will be to fight. It reminds me of a game that I saw I forgot what the name was.
@@yuo8432 Blood Will Tell?
@@vitoriadias7990 it's a game that has to with the seven deadly sins and it's a souls-like game.
@@yuo8432 Oh, okay. I don't know this.
I don't know anything about the series, but I wonder if the Buddha statue from the first episode (that sacrificed itself) protected Hyakkimaru, leaving that last part of him to survive.
RabidDogma In Japanese mythology it's called a tsukumogami. An old/antique/beloved object that managed to aquire a soul due to the feelings of its owner(s).
It's not a Tsukumogami. In this case, it represents (a) Buddha's mercy, having sacrificed to keep Hyakkimaru alive. You see this happen again and again - Buddha's will having chance effects on the story. This is a very Asian story and it's hard to unpack without knowing a lot of the cultural details.
Rufei Yep, I know that. I actually explained why I said tsukumogami in a different comment I wrote on a different vid. This reply was just a copy paste with a few minor adjustments because I was being lazy. Now that I read his comment again my explanation really doesn't fit huh... my bad... Ok, first things first just to clear things up, I know it was because of the buddha (I know this isn't the deity's actual name but I forgot I only know she's kinda like the equivalent to mother Mary), I'm not blind or stupid as to not understand/see that. And I'm sure people know that as well, as we even saw Hyakki's mom praying to her. It's very obvious it was her that actually saved Hyakki and not the statue. Now to explain my previous comment, I was referring to the object itself and not the actual deity. I commented that because the lady didn't say anything about the buddha or her mercy and was only talking about the statue's sacrifice which confused a lot of people. A lot of people were confused why she said "the statue sacrifice" instead of "the buddha showed mercy" which is why I I thought maybe it's because of their superstition. I'm catholic and in my country some superstitions have melded with the religion (wich I don't agree with btw) so I figured it was the same with them. Their superstition (yokai, tsukumogami etc) has melded into their religion (yes I know that is kinda also a part of it but whatever I'm not going deeper into that) and what she said was the result. I hope I cleared that out... it may be a bit confusing but I'm typing this at 1:30 am and my brain is lagging big time so, sorry if I made this even more confusing... 😩😩😩
@@Nil_Sama Ah, I'm only Chinese here, but guessing by the shared religious elements (namely with Buddhism) it's generally taken that symbols are evidence of Buddha's guidance, not that there's power held within them. To some extent this is going to conflict with Shinto beliefs, especially with tsukumogamis, but I think this is a case of Buddha being at least powerful enough that mercy can overpower one of the demons. The specific buddha here is probably Guanyin/Kannon (Goddess of Mercy), as you can see in this video: ua-cam.com/video/nEjAJQRQfWw/v-deo.html
The real takeaway should be that this is the only act of mercy Kannon is giving to the mother. To some extent, she is helpless to oppose the father, but she is also not putting much effort into actually finding Hyakkimaru, so if she continues down this path she is complicit and therefore needs to learn her lesson in this life.
Rufei Well, in her defense her body did become very weak after she gave birth to Tahoumaru. Also the midwife was told to dispose of (kill) the child wich btw she is used to doing, so I doubt they even thought about the possibility of Hyakkimaru being alive. You have to remember, the midwife was gonna drown him, but changed her mind and set him sailing down the river instead. This was somewhat of a secret she brought with her literally to the grave as she was killed right then and there. The only reason why the father suspected he was alive was because he saw the demon statutes getting destroyed one by one, but he never told his wife about that.
Loving this show! Not knowing anything about the series beforehand is making it that much more enjoyable! Great reaction guys
Dororo is a boy, the name cames from "Dorobokozo" that means "thief brat", this is a anime based on a manga from the 60's and in the original story was 48 demons, but Hyakkimaru was able to "feel" sound, speak with his stomach and he had a girlfriend who got murdered, but appear that this part of the story didnt happen because he isnt able to talk or hear.
Spoiler.

Dororo was brought up as a boy. It's later revealed that "he" is actually a girl.
dororo is a girl disguised as a boy for reasons that will be revealed later
Yes we been waiting for it love Kimchi and tofu Been here since 2017
Same. I just watch the first episode when the second episode is already update. I love your reactions, guys. 👐
can we talk about how fcukin amazing the opening is for this anime
You guys are so smart like nobody would have recalled the Buddha getting his head cut off had something to do with hiyakkmaru bones being intact
Dororo is a girl. There's a live action movie named "Dodoro" tribute to the manga.
And it's always good to see Tofu got excited for an anime.. I remember when she didnt know much about Dragon Ball, now she is excited for something anime related.
4:51 In Japanese folklore, Not all Demons are neccesarly evil, they are spirits, but they do things with a purpose.
A lot are off course mischivious and bad, but they won't actively attack humans, and they rather have nothing to do with humans, and some of them are just their to do something if requested.
Can't remember the name, but there was a kind of Shadowy figure like that, that would do the chores, throw out the trash, make sure the fires are lit and that no burglars come in the home, in exchange for some peaches or a bol of rice, and those would only come in the dead of the night, when there's no light, and everyone asleep, cause they're very timid.
lots of spirits only required food offerings, Thats why you also had lots of small shrines dedicted to a Guardian spirit, where travelers would make offerings in return for a good trip.
If you're interested in it i'd recommend you guys watch Natsume Yuujincho, its a really good supernatural anime, with some action, lots of phylosophy and sweet moments and feels, the feel train hit like a motherfucker...(think of it as a serialised Studio Ghibli movie/show)
You should watch Mushishi if you like the music and the vibe of Dororo
Hikimayu (引眉) was the practice of removing the natural eyebrows and painting smudge-like eyebrows on the forehead in pre-modern Japan.
Hiki means "pull" and mayu means "eyebrows". / Also represented there purity and could have ment as well discord demon protection was well scarce then in those time periods.
1:04 This is a spirit that tells us that he was killed and gives a warning to a traveler.
And he wishes to be buried properly. He says there is a key money for that.
I dont know why i love this show so much
I haven't watched ep 2 yet because ur reactions make this anime better
This anime is getting better, more than I expected ❤
Although subtle, it's very sweet how there's clearly a bond developing between Hyakkimaru and Dororo if he was finally willing to tell him his name;
Especially after noticing how sad he looked talking about his mom.
I'm very much looking forward to seeing how these two grow as characters and as friends/brothers. 😊
@Ionasku Alexander oi, spoilers (0 x 0) ;
I'm so excited for episode 5 of Dororo 😀
At the end of the ending song they show the orginal demon from the manga with his name i think
The thugs called "the girl" a he when they started to drown the kid in the last episode. Also called "a boy" when our main character draws their weapon on the village chief in this episode.
It's kind of this cutesy set up where you've got the cool mysterious guy partnered with a spunky yet sharp kid, and in retrospect could be the reason Asada (the key character designer of the series) was drawn to work on this.
I think I mentioned it in the last review that Asada Hiroyuki was the mangaka of an underrated, yet beautiful series a couple of years back before he got on board with Mappa for Dororo.
In his original work the two main focuses of the story was a young and ambitious man and a little boy with an enigmatic past.
On their brief journey together they develop a very sweet brotherly relationship, as well as a sort of hero and admirer bond at the end of it.
I'm assuming Asada feels that same kindred spirit within the duo of Hyakkimaru and Dororo, and I'm sure it'll be just as heartwarming.
Good on you Kimchi👆 a lot people didn't realized what Hyakkimaru get back.
YOOOO the opening is so GOOOOOD, best op so far
Dororo is a boy. This series is a remake of really old black and white anime called "Dororo to Hyakkimaru" it aired in 1969.
Hyakymarru:
White soul, yellow soul, green soul.
I sleep.
Ay yo hold up there's a red soul!
REAL SHIT!
In the original manga Dororo is a boy also his name is related to what he is which is a little thief
Dororo was originally a girl traveling as a boy in the manga because traveling as a boy was safer back then. But in the original 1969 anime they made Dororo a boy for convenience.
"Now we have to wait a week!" Damn, I'm thinking the same.

So basically each of the twelve demons that his father made a deal with literally took their pound of flesh from him as a baby and when he kills one of them he gets his flesh back?
i find it so unfortunate but funny. he gets his nerves back as soon as he finishes a fight where he gets stabbed through xD. that's gotta hurt
Fun thing: in 1969 anime & ps2 game he get eye first.
In movie & game Dororo is a girl.
I love this series. And, I'm surprised by how much you two are getting into it. It's great!
Oh, and Dororo is a boy. When I first saw him, I went back and forth from boy to girl...then I caught, "him" in reference to Dororo. :D
Just a heads up, you might get confused if you assume Dororo's gender right now. It will get revealed later. For now, viewing this character without any specific gender in mind is the best.

Great reaction
Living things (animals and humans) are white. Formerly living things are green (the spirit in this episode and anything made from wood). And ghouls are red. So he can see his hands but he cant see his sword blades.
Wait so that anime MC has his senses removed as his dad made a deal with the demonic god's?
Okaaaaaaaaaaay, now i understand.. Thank you guys :D
Once again a nice reaction to a great show.
In the original anime the story of Lady Bandai was a two-parter which was arguably a bit more creepy. This version is also very good though.
As for Dororo....... If you really don't know it would be kind of an "unimportant" spoiler since, if this remake follows the original anime the characters' gender is not important at all. If I remember correctly it wasn't even made clear during the characters' backstory but just in half a sentence quite close to the end and then never addressed again.
But who knows what they'll be doing in this version.
So I'd say let yourself be surprised.
Now ep 3 hehe soon tho
Hey guys hear the ending of dororo. Its Soooooooooo Gooooooooood.
the demon that failed in finishing hyakkimaru off was the mantis samurai demon i think,

Dororo is really a girl, but doesn't act like one because she's convinced that she's a boy (or at least in denial about it). Her parents raised her that way and didn't tell her otherwise.
