I have one of those hang up IV bottles. A lot of times if I'm working on something unknown I will only use my fuel to test and get something running. And I never allow anything that I work on to leave my garage with the fuel in it that the owner had in the tank. I drain the gas from any piece of equipment I work on. I give it back with just enough gas to show that it is working.
No, but I recently bought a used hedge trimmer with new fuel lines that had been reversed so the fuel filter was on the return line. Carb screen was full of dirt.
Probably but more than likely it was on a saw. I made VERY sure the trimmers always has fresh clean gas but some of the old saws and younger ME would have problems! Thanks and Blessings
For once I'd like your opinion on weather it is ok to run synthetic oil in all 2cycle engines, or use old type oil in the older model's and synthetics in the newer???
This was a clutchless Trimmer, like the ones in the old days usted to be,.. A lot of people think that the se old ones are way better than the new ones with clutch but I 'm curious about your opinión on this issue.
Yes have done that and found out I kinked one of the fuel lines. Also I am prone to pulling it quite a few times before I remember what that little red button does. What light weight trimmer do you recommend. I have a 4 cycle and it is getting to heavy for me. Thanks for the video.
No, I just replace the filter. It’s amazing the difference a fresh filter can make. I think the most common mistake people make with small engine equipment is that they DO NOT stock up on common, cheap maintenance parts and expect their equipment to run good year after year. Also another common mistake is not making sure the gas remains fresh and properly mixed. 🛠
No I always make sure that there is a new filter on any of my equipment I don’t ever run anything without a fuel filter they do not cost that much and they are replaced every spring
Another great job with the explanation and videography !! Where would you suggest I purchase a carb if I choose to replace mine on the chainsaw I’ve wanted to get started ??? Thx in advance
Hi, I do have look like this First think run and die then I cleaned the carburetor, spark plug is good. Then readjust carburetor on L and H side turn clock wise all away down and turn Two times counter clock wise on L and H side, same as idle control too but three times turn counter clock wise. Start the engine but no start. What should i do next
My trimmer starts, idles and runs. After using it for 3-4 minutes, it stalls, then dies. If I move the choke back to the cold start position(1), don't prime it, it starts on the first pull, accelerates and runs 3-4 minutes then stalls again. What should I check first?
since I don't know what the make or model of your trimmer is, I'm just going to make some guesses. I would replace the spark plug, gas cap, and if that doesn't work, replace the carb.
OK, sorry. It's a Remington Ranchero RM2700. I just did a full kit replace, carb, spark plug, fuel lines and fuel filters. Starts on 1st or 2nd pull, idles fine, runs and accelerates fine for 3-4 minutes then stalls. I thought about your reply regarding the fuel cap and tried cleaning the "port" in the center of the cap. It still stalls after 3-4 minutes, almost like its out of fuel. I didn't want to tinker yet with the idle and speed screws. Maybe I'll try a replacement fuel cap and see if it still stalls. What do you recommend?
Man what an odd carburetor design. Never seen a walbro like that before. No need to make it that difficult to run fuel lines and throttle cable. That is another reason I'M not a poulan fan. My trimmers and blowers will not run without there fuel filters we have had them come off the pick up line in the tank and they will stop running and will not start back until you hook the fuel filter back up not sure why i think they get too much fuel without the filter or something
How about the Ryobi/Craftsman/PP with the tank above the engine and the cylinder is upside down(31cc). Engineered by idiots who have never worked on anything and made to throw away. The ONLY box store brand I would buy is Echo.
You should do a video of what to do to your equipment before starting it again after sitting for the winter👌🏻
That's a good idea. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
i love your videos you always end up fixing the problems you helped me fix my dads line trimmer
Glad to help

that's an interesting way of testing it, how long have you been doing that for?
I bought a cheap weed eater for like $80 and it lasted me 4 years with no trouble at all. It's a blast to use because it's so lite😀
that's what I look for as well when choosing a trimmer, it has to be light weight. thank you Anthony Minggia.
No, but I recently bought a used hedge trimmer with new fuel lines that had been reversed so the fuel filter was on the return line. Carb screen was full of dirt.
Were you able to get it running?
@@HomeGaragechannel Yes, but it's got a bad gasket on the pump side. Got a carb kit ordered.
Probably but more than likely it was on a saw. I made VERY sure the trimmers always has fresh clean gas but some of the old saws and younger ME would have problems! Thanks and Blessings
Never. Any reputable shop wouldn’t touch it, repair cost would exceed cost of buying a new one. But there are plenty of shops that will screw you..
I'm sure that's true. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
For once I'd like your opinion on weather it is ok to run synthetic oil in all 2cycle engines, or use old type oil in the older model's and synthetics in the newer???
I only buy regular 2 cycle oil for my equipment not synthetic. Its a total preference issue so I choose cheap.
@@HomeGaragechannel
To your knowledge is there a performance difference??
@@michaelfougeroussejr9571 i believe there is a performance difference yes.
@@michaelfougeroussejr9571 synthetic protects better and it doesn't smoke as much

I like clutched trimmers. Reason is I don't like the trimmer head spinning when I'm walking around with it.
@@HomeGaragechannel but clutchless are easier to fix and it's also easier to find spare parts isn't it?
@@alexdiaz4371 you are correct yes they are.
You forgot the second nut on the Airfilter/ Carb Bolts... Hard to see because you cut the video just at the right moment ;)
you got me!

Hmm.. I don't have a specific brand. It has to be a straight aluminum one piece shaft, and a 25 or 26cc engine. Possibly an echo though.
Thank you for the comment I appreciate it
I love my Echo PAS 225 system. 6 years old, but runs like new!

you are absolutely right Fred D.

I would choose Amazonm. I used to use a different website but I hated waited days for my stuff to arrive.
What I do with all small eng put a shot in carb take from there.
yes thats a fantastic start Steve Hertz

replace the carb.
I have a ryobi trimmer that starts easily and runs good but it dies when I release the throttle What would you do to fix it.
i would adjust the L screw
Slowly turn the L screw or screw closest to the engine counterclockwise until it idles
Informative vdo👍👍👍
Thanks for the comment I appreciate it
Thanks... SW
no problem and thanks for the comment I appreciate it
What do you think about after market carburetors no name brands from eBay.
I have no problems with them. I run them never OEM.

OOH! I know this one, crank case bearing seals, I know because of Jennie's garage
I'll have to do a pressure test. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it.

Great content but the volume seemed a little low. Thanks for the video's.

Best answer ever. Thanks Russell Booth.

Oh, o should have waited til further in the video, if it repeats it, running well, weakining, than dying, that is crank bearing seal
Not a problem I appreciate your enthusiasm.
If you want to work on a challenging trimmer try a weed eater 1400. Probably the hardest trimmer to work on.
I'll have to look that up. Thanks for the comment I appreciate it

Get a harness for this trimmer

Yes I'm not a bolens fan either.
air leik
Thats a very good possibility.
Hi can I have a shout out
Hello. Unfortunately I don't do shout outs.
That’s good so I was just trying to see
Well there's your problem, it's a Poulan.
lol yes it is. If I re-brand it it might work.
This carburetor is junk .
there are definitely better ones out there
