Many people who didn't grow up studying Jewish texts probably don't realize this, but 99.9% of what R Singer teaches is simply an excellent and faithful translation and summary of commentaries from the Midrash to kabbalistic texts, etc. It's not like he's inventing this and teaching his own personal ideas.
I think it's important for people to know that even though he doesn't always mention each source, his teachings are inline with all traditional texts and all Orthodox rabbis would agree on the explanations he is giving.
Listening to him is like cross-referencing hundreds of texts without having to learn your entire life. Since I grew up reading the original texts, and still do every day, I can guarantee anyone who is unable to do that alone is extremely lucky to have a rabbi like R Singer to explain it in such an excellent and clear way.
    Yasher koach, R Singer! 🙏💙🙌🔯🙏

This is very true. BUT...he also took a LONG time learning the xian bible, so that he can juxtapose, verse for verse...the Tenach against their bible to show how they have mistranslated in order to make their religion seem plausible. But it's all a bunch of LIES!

    • @stoopidpants
      @stoopidpants 2 роки тому +1

This is a really good point. I grew up reading the texts also, though I haven't in the last 20 years, what you are saying is 100% correct.
I think a lot of fundamentalist Christians treat Singer like he's some whacko. Perhaps it's because our religions are so different in terms of structure (we don't have a central authority or a dioses to shuffle preachers in and out). I'm fairly sure Rabbis might disagree on very minor points (that's kinda what yeshiva life is...)

@Abraham Mani O mankind, the Messenger has come to you with the truth from your Lord, so believe; it is better for you. But if you disbelieve - then indeed, to Allāh belongs whatever is in the heavens and earth. And ever is Allāh Knowing and Wise.
O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allāh except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allāh and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allāh and His messengers. And do not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allāh is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allāh as Disposer of affairs.

The more I hear And watch Rabbi Tovia explaining the Torah view on God and his prophets and messengers the more I feel peace in my heart that Allah (SWT) is the only one, and the only one worth worshiping. This is confirmation that Judaism and Islam complete each other and the Scripture in both religions from one source only. God Almighty a Muslim is not Identified by gender or color or ethnicity that's why we Muslims believe Abraham Moses Jacob David Solomon Jesus and all the messengers and the prophets are true Muslims even Rabbi Tovia could be a better Muslim than I because Islam means believing and submitting to well of the God Almighty. As Rabbi Saad Ben Yousef Al-Fayoumi (d: 942 A.D) explained in his Tafsir of Torah:
קאל לה אלאזלי אלד̇י לא יזול קאל כד̇א קל לבני אסראיל אלאזלי בעת̇ני אליכם
قال له *الازلي الذي لا يزول* قال كذا قل لبني إسراءيل: *الازلي بعثني اليكم*
He said to him: “The everlasting one who will never seize to exist” said that, Say to Israelites: “The Ever-Living One, has sent Me to you”
Therefore, the word אהיה May have many meanings depending on the context it is used. The closest Arabic word I can think of is اياه (Solely Him) which is equivalent to هو (He/Him) meaning اياه كما اياه “He is as He was”, in other wards in Quranic language the closest connotation would be الحي القيوم - The Ever-Living, The Existing One, The Everlasting One, The Eternal One،

Tovia, The Talmud says that Abraham trusted the God who said He had done "Enough" creating, and the Jews celebrate the Sabbath because they have done enough working for that week and just want to enjoy His Person. This is wonderful to me and leads to another question. God also said "Enough" on the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th day, before another Sabbath came; on those days He only did maintenance, but no creating (and He has been doing maintenance ever since, even on Sabbaths). The question is this: Did you know that true Christians keep the Sabbath seven days a week? Hebrews 4:9-10: "Consequently, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His." True Christians have rested from ALL our works; we don't have to struggle to survive like Jacob. We also say, "Enough," every day because God gives us enough. I agree that Israel survives through struggle because of God, so please do not forget that many Christians in England and the US are advocating for the Jews every day, which is also why there are so many missionaries in the land of Israel. My Bible, which includes the NT, generally agrees with what you said about the future with one minor variation. Many Jews, when they 1) see the Two Witnesses of Jesus (types of Moses and Elijah) rise from the dead in the streets of Jerusalem and 2) live through the great earthquake there, "will give glory to the God of heaven." This does not mean that they will glorify ONLY the One True God, but they will also glorify His Son, the One that Moses and Elijah's representatives preach. This Jewish acceptance of Jesus in Jerusalem causes heaven to announce that Jesus's kingdom on earth has begun. My friend, WE are waiting for YOU.

    Shalom all :)
Rabbi Tovia is genuinely right on many points but being imperfect, he just may be wrong on this one. The banning of utterring God's name isn't found in the Torah but in rabbinic tradition.
Moshe asked Elohim for His Name and this was the commandment.
    *Exodus 3*
13 And Moses said to God, “Look, when I come to the people of Israel, and tell them, ‘The *God of your fathers has sent me to you;’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ What should I tell them?”*
15 And God said moreover to Moses, *“You shall tell the people of Israel this, ‘YHWH, the God of your fathers,* the God of Abraham, i the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ *This is my name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations.*
    16 Go, and gather the elders of the children of j Israel together, and *tell them, ‘YHWH, the God of your fathers,* the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, “I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt;
    The following verse confirms.
    *Exodus 6*
2 Then God spoke to Moses, and said to him, *“I am YHWH.*
3 And I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as El Shaddai, *but I did not make myself known to them by my name YHWH.*
The fact that so many prophets of YHWH had the compound signature name of God (YAH) proves that His name is to be uttered, remembered and exalted.
There were false prophets who went around making God's chosen forget His name and this was met with strong rebuke.
    *YermiYAH 23*
26 How long shall this be in the heart of the *prophets who prophesy lies,* even the prophets of the deceit of their own heart,
27 who think *to cause my people to forget my name* by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers *forgot my name for Baal (LORD/Adonai).*
Eli-YAH (My God Is YAH) had to emerge to correct those who called upon BAAL/LORD/Adonai instead of His name.
    *1 Kings 18*
24 You call on the name of your god (BAAL), and I will *call on the name of YHWH*, and the god who answers by fire, he is God.” All the people answered, “It is well said.”
36 It happened at the time of the offering up of the offering, that Elijah the prophet came near, and *said, “YHWH,* the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word.
38 Hear me, YHWH, hear me, that this *people may know that you, YHWH, are God,* and that you have turned their heart back again.”
38 Then the fire of YHWH fell, and consumed the burnt offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
39 And when all the people saw it, they fell facedown *and said, “YHWH, he is God. YHWH, he is God.”*
The call to love YHWH and to love His name includes gentile proselytes.
    *Yesha-YAHU 56*
    Also the foreigners who join themselves to YHWH, to minister to him, and to *love the name of YHWH,* to be his servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath from profaning it, and holds fast my covenant;
    *Deut 6*
4 *Shema Yisrael, YHWH eloheinu,* YHWH echad.
5 And you shall *love YHWH your God* with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.

The idea that Elohim “hides behind His creation” (23 minute mark) is dangerously close to the justification of worshipping creation rather than the Creator.
On the other hand, the concepts mentioned are similar to Paul’s argument in Romans 1:19-20, that the visible creation reveals the invisible, including, the invisible G_dhead.

Hi.. I've been listening to your videos for a little while now. I am undone. I've been a Christian my whole life. The things that bothered me? I just dismissed. I figured the answer would show up eventually. Well, it did. There is a scripture in Matthew that pretty much sums it up. You don't hear this in church much, but it is there. Matthew 19:17. It is Jesus speaking. He says, why call list thou me good? There is none good but one in that is God. I used to wonder about that. So I looked it up today.. that's not the whole of the verse. It goes on to say, if thou Wilt enter life, keep the Commandments.
If I'm to call myself a Christian, I need to follow the Bible, and this is what it says. Jesus did not come to completely change God's word. He followed it.. and reprimanded those who did not. It's right there. Any three-year-old could understand this. Life equals Commandments.

The name of a deity in Egyptian culture is said to holds the power over that deity. Moses being raised as a Egyptian would have believed that knowing the true name of a deity would give him divine power, thus Hashem responded with, "I will be that which I will [to] be" in other saying "You need only to know what I am, but not who I am". Even Jesus is not really a name, it is his job.

it's funny when some Christian that I met told me that God official name is YHWH and it's different from Allah. while during studying this topic and read some Jewish books about it...
it appeared that YHWH appeared in the Quran but in Arabic in the word "الصمد" "A-Samid" meaning the Eternal Refuge and it share the meaning of YHWH I shall be as I shall be meaning that God will be always with you in all of your crisis.
in fact chapter 112 in the Quran when Jews comes to the prophet Mohammad peace be upon him asking about his view to God. the answer was …
قل هو الله أحد 1 الله الصمد 2
qul whowa allahu Ahad 1 Allahu A-smid
say God is one 1 God is Eternal Refuge.
as the word one (Ahad ) reference to the Hebrew word Ehad in Deuteronomy 6:4
shema israel adonai eloheinu adonai echad
hear o Israel the lord is our God the lord is one!
and also the word YHWH Rabbi Saadia Goun transulated as the Eternal.
the bottom line here. We Muslims worship the same God as Jews and Christians even if there some don't like to acknowledge this

the Word Allah comes from 2 parts …
Al meaning "The " and illah meaning god
when you combine it , you will get the word Allah as short term for speaking the true God since the "Al" in Arabic can be use to speak about specific thing..
Prophet Mohammad true he is not invent new religion, because what he breach and teach is the same as all the previews prophet did before him.

We Jews know this and so should most Muslims. Arabic is a Semitic dialect. The G-d of israel is the G-d of Ishmael. The only absolute monotheism outside Judaism is Islam. That is fact.

    • @painkeller20
      @painkeller20 6 років тому +10

      Worship one God.
true but you need to remember the Arab originally monotheist since they are the children Ishmael , it was decade later they got influence by Pagan and start worshipping false gods with the one true God meaning in Arabic they are Mushrik .
the term shirk mean that you worship one true God and other false gods with him.
So, what prophet Mohammad did was restore the faith how it should be. by removing the false gods.
and let the Arabs go back monotheist and start worshipping one true God again.
when we say in Arabic "لا إله إلا الله " La illaha illa Allah "
meaning there is no gods (the false ones) but the God (the true God )
this definition of Allah can be find all over in the Quran.
so what I am saying that the prophet just restore the faith and clean it from paganism.

I love watching Rabbi Tovia Tanakh teachings. My opinion based on my research and Hebrew studies regarding the sacred name of the Almighty is:
Nobody knows the right pronunciation of the sacred name. After the Babylonian exile, pronouncing the sacred name became a superstition , namely whoever profane was sentenced to death in Moses times and after. So the real pronunciation of the name of the Almighty in time got lost. That is why Rabbinical authority included "title" names like " El Shaddai" and many others to the Almighty instead of saying his name.
The Rabbinical authority included the Tetragrammaton or the four Hebrew consonants letters as the "speculated" Hebrew sacred name guideline which in later time , they included different vowels systems to "insert" a pronunciation of the name. However, the Tetragrammaton is not the name of the Almighty either. Needless to say, adding speculated vowels to those four Hebrew consonants. The bottom line is that nobody knows the name of the Almighty now but, The sacred name would be given when the Messiah comes, and all nations will know his true name.
On a side note: The Tetragrammaton letters are also found in Phoenician letters as their Yahweh goddess which also is represented in the Tetragrammaton. Why? The Canaanite people worshiped a goddess called "Je ho vah " or The name YHWH, consisting of the sequence of consonants Yod, Heh, Waw, and Heh with the Tetragrammatton. So that means, we can't use a pagan name to substitute it with the sacred name of the Elohim of Abraham.
"Pay strict attention to everything I have said to you. You must not invoke the names of other gods; they must not be heard on your lips." Exodus 23:13
    Exodus 20:7
We have to be really careful which we use to call the Elohim Almighty. There are consequences just using a pagan name or speculated name
