This game is a masterpiece, and the community for it is STILL ACTIVE to this day. More people seriously need to know about this game. It's so fucking good.
Man this guy's gettin pretty damn good at these video game reviews it's kind of impressive. It's like two types of content I'd watch back in 2014 combined into a single thing. It's like if I stayed up all night watching YTP News and an oldschool Normalboots/Hiddenblock channel, conked out and had a fever dream where the two somehow combined into a single video. Kind of gives me some oldschool Sequelitis vibes too and that's a good thing.
Oh man, Monolith pulled all the stocks when it came to the animation. Both the cutscenes and the in-game sprites move beautifully. Also, "Zeptosecond", there's a new word I've learned today. Another terrific vid, Stu! POCKET SAND!
Apparently the reason behind the "end live" option was a bug they didn't manage to fix on the release. The real 1.0 of the game (thankfully so rare that it may just as well be a lost media and it's not online from what I know) had a bug allowing you to get stuck in the ground with no ability to move. They've added that option to not have it be a complete softlock and it just stuck around after the release, even when the bug was fixed.
It's also confusing because there are actually TWO 1.0 versions of the game, one with the bug and one without. Thankfully the bugged version wasn't printed in great amounts so you aren't likely to run into it when buying a boxed copy if you're one of those collector weirdos. Though you still may, because they both look the same, same box art, same design on the disc, just one of them has this bug.
well made video! Im very glad that there are still people playing this masterpiece. I honestly died at the part where you called the kid in the intro XD
I feel proud to say i finished this game without any cheats. Oh it was painful. But the kid me who tried everything just to beat it and couldn't, must be proud of me. Also the Claw Gianni makes me insanely happy
Gianni did a splendid impression, but we all know Stephen Weyte's days are so woefully numbered... I think plenty of us are gonna be sunk further into depression when he goes...
Hmmm, that is a game I haven't heard of for a long time. I think I am the 10k viewer on this... Anyway, great review mate, the rage is exactly what I went through as a boy when I played it in my old, Pentium 3 (500 MHz) Windows 98 Plus! PC. The rage is real with this one. I mean, really real. Ah, the memories.... I remember being stuck in Aquatis because I didn't know that if you fold the fire button for dynamite, Claw throws it further. I have to thank you for the laughs, and also for bringing to my attention the Claw community. Now I can play and go through all the rage again in Windows 10! And they really made so many custom levels..... The level of effort put in this game really shows. It is one of the few games that actually has an active community even more than 20 years after release, and with no further support - I mean, not many games can boast such a thing (the only one that comes to mind is Age of Empires 2). The devs even put the little details, like Claw complaining if you stand around for too long, or Claw going full Tarzan if you swing from the chains/ropes/vines for too long. I remember throwing Gabriel to the sea too (from the left). I also remember climbing to where Gabriel was (with a cheat) and then hauling him all the way to the other side and throwing him in the sea from there (spoiler: his health bar disappears and you hear a splash but the gem doesn't come out, so you are stuck). Overall, great review. I have very fond memories from this game.
7:41...A bit of trivia. You can actually hold the up arrow used to climb ladders when stationary to achieve the same thing,i.e. Claw will look up. I guess despite it being a platformer, the game's resolution is kinda counterproductive to see ahead. Of you can see up or down in advance this way. Yeah :/
Claw would fit Steam very well. This looks very nice, but end and the game. Is bit too hard. What sense i get to it, when watched this video. Good review about this awesome looking Claw game. it is like you get pocket sand to your face. ^^
Your sense of humor is worthy of praise. The game was entertaining, but pretty hard for a kids game, starting from stage 7 and stage 10 was the most annoying. I wish we had cutscenes showing bosses deaths. I really liked this game as a kid, especially the music. To sum up, I rate it 8/10.
As someone who's first game ever was Captain Claw, this was a surprise to see in my recommend. Also, absolutely love your analogies. "That disappear faster than Bill Clinton when the condom broke." On another note. I've played this game for 13 years so the game isn't all that challenging for me anymore. And for some reason, Red Tail and Omar took less time for me combined than it took me to beat Marrow. I honestly have no idea why. All 3 bosses took me days to beat but Marrow was just too difficult for 5 years old me.
Fun fact there was actually a 4th sword planned for the game but it was cut during development. I think it was the plasma sword. References to it are still in the game files.
This is a VERY hard game that I replayed few years ago after having this from a CD when I was a kid...only finished Level 1 and never beyond that due the need of long jump platforming, but I finished the WHOLE game at that replay, and it was satisfying to beat, especially when you get the patterns correct - a bit of a tip, horde your lives before going to a save point, and that way you can just reset from that point with a lot of backup, with now all you have learned of the level.
Don't hate them for Blood 2, hate the publishers GT Interactive for that. So here's a fun fact: Captain Claw makes a cameo apperance in *SHOGO: Mobile Armor Division* as a doll you use for a sidequest, guess what it says.
There's also a Captain Claw reference in No One Lives Forever, spoiler to it: There's a chateau in the German Alps you visit, and there is a letter in a bed inside a jail cell addressed to "C. Claw". The content of it is the note Captain Claw finds inside his cell in the beginning cutscene
Let me add a wrestling reference to that joke, and say, maybe they should combine Capt Claw with Edge, and make him The Rated Aaarrrrrrrr Superstar. 😉 But seriously, did enjoy this video, and was nice stop just prior to doing my nightly round of gaming. Thank you.
I might give this game a shot myself since I'm a platformer junkie cuz I'm curious about the custom levels more than anything lol Anyway great video as usual man 👌
I don't know when or where, but I've played this game before, enough times to vividly remember those graphics and sound effects (especially "Magic Claw" and the checkpoint jingle). I don't remember going very far in it though. Might be because I played it at a friend's house, or because it was one of those cereal box demo disks, or maybe I actually owned it but never got past the second level because it's hard as tits and so I gave it away at some point? This is messing me up.
@StuartKReilly yeah! I do see where everyone, who dislikes this game is coming from, and I do agree this game is bullshit at times but I love it nonetheless!
You like Pirates? Yea! You like sidescrolling adventure? Hell yeah! You like action-packed, old-fashioned high-difficulty gameplay? You darn Tootin' I do! You like furries?....don't answer that! Then this game is what you're looking for!
I played this game when it was new. I still have the original CD. It was my first pc game and still my fav game. I recisit it every year or so. But for the life of me i cant get past lv 11. Fuck that platforming. The pattern is so rando. Its hard to climb the water falls. Lol
The guy that beat this game without losing any lives has got to be a god amongst men.
Yeah, PappyQC is nuts.
@@spartanoftheapex indeed 😎
Bro i am a pro in this game as my pc came with this game for free, I bet this game over a thousand times

Also *MAGIC CLAW!!!!*

This was my first ever PC Game, this is what started my journey as a gamer. This will forever have a place in my heart ❤️
this game is my childhood. the mermaid part especially
"now let s see if capitan claw has a page on e6. he does..."
best line xD
A game that I saw in magazines back in the day, and never got to play. Thanks for showing me what I was missing :)
That was awesome man. And it sums up what it was like to play Claw for the first time
Random tangent about relationships for 3 minutes! … So anyway back to “Captain Claw” 😆🤣😂
That’s how we roll down here
Virgin: Magic Claw
Chad: CLAWDOUKEN
I'm glad you're still making content Stu; I've been a fan since the UA-cam Poop days and these game reviews are hysterical. Keep up the good work!
Rest In Pieces Jimmy.
He was a little shit anyway.
Me and my brother used to play this games for hours. We never completed but I distinctively remember the disc was black in colour.
Thank you man for this videos it means so much this game❤
Duuude , this is really well done !!!
1 second in and I'm already dying of laughter. 😂😂😂😂
You are a king. I played the shit out of this game when I lived in Colombia and I believe this game contributed to my adult anxiety.
9:24 - 9:29
I'm... dyyying! I'm... dead...
Did you know, there was a CLAW squeaky toy in SHOGO, which was another game by Monolith?
This was my childhood I remembered struggling at the first boss ;-;

Best game of my childhood....want captain claw 2
Mr. Incredible meme.
Me too, kid.
The pocket sand got to me.
It's so bizarre having seen your old poops like Metal Queer Solid and then coming to find you have other content now.
Claw would fit Steam very well. This looks very nice, but end and the game. Is bit too hard.

@@Lucios1995 Wow, that's a nice one !
I like it when other devs show love to other games, in their own games, via easter eggs.
Does it say "pocket sand"?

Was that just a CooC CaaC reference? Awesome video Stu :)
Don’t know what that is

Your sword is enough.
I might give this game a shot myself since I'm a platformer junkie cuz I'm curious about the custom levels more than anything lol
Anyway great video as usual man 👌
Hello @MilesMeelezz can you tell me the exact name of this game's genre, I'm trying to find indie games like this. Is it just called platformer?
12:38
Heeey, big boooy!
(Polish version: Hej, grubasku.)
As a big fan of this game... I loved this analisis!!
This is the 90s best CDI Zelda game
Still got a copy of this somewhere. Was fun enough for the time.
RIP Jimmy, he simply asked too many questions.
This is a great video!!!
Great review.
Instant subscribe.
I'm so fucking excited.
Childhood!
I enjoyed this game a lot as a kid because it's difficult but fair. The game wouldn't be that memorable if you could beat it in one try wouldn't it ;)
True. 😊
I loved this game
I'd imagine if this game was rebooted for the modern era it would just wind up being Uncharted but with furries
Why does Claw’s animation remind me of Zelda CDI??
Early digital 2D animation.
Best claw review ever... Downloading this shit now...
Hey can we get a link to the full version of that awesome Keelhauled cover we hear at 17:40?

Fantastic game!
It’s hard as hell and I admit I was harsh on it, but that’s kind of what I do. I do love the game though.
@StuartKReilly yeah! I do see where everyone, who dislikes this game is coming from, and I do agree this game is bullshit at times but I love it nonetheless!
I grew up playing this game boss.
It's the best one I have ever played..
You like Pirates? Yea!
You like sidescrolling adventure? Hell yeah!
You like action-packed, old-fashioned high-difficulty gameplay? You darn Tootin' I do!
You like furries?....don't answer that!
Then this game is what you're looking for!
We gotta see that Nikita review sometime
You never know. I might get bored enough that I might just do that.
Woah! It's like Bill Burr with a Nintendo Switch! Ha ha!
This game is amazing!!!!
I'm from Egypt!!!

IIRC nikita made it into a gdq lineup one year.
Another great video
i must say i did have to take a break after the bad girlfriend comparison, came in for the fun did not expect the feels
I LOVE THIS GAME, IS VERY TO LOVE HAHA
I think the last level of the game is EGYPTIAN!
Someone has to beat this game without taking damage
Captain Paizuri... >W<
Sounds like a hentai anime parodying some superhero tropes. With tentacles involved. ;3
You would like to see Nikita (respectfully)
great video
bro how to get claw voiceover or is this just edited or ur mimicry?
Cool stuff 👍
My goodness stu
Nice channel 😉👍
18:19 So about the fourth sword, Pejti (one of the Claw fans) actually made a Plasma Sword mod some time ago 😀
ua-cam.com/video/HfteQKhXp2s/v-deo.html
Is there a channel who talks about fps or fps adjacent games that getgianni won’t invade?
His design is fantastic, not like those old uncanny furry designs and not only that.. The gameplay is good, HOW?!
man I couldn't find that pic on e6, what gives
It's on Rule 34!
@@Lucios1995 Lol !
Really ?!!
This game ended for me on the Cat girl with a whip
Unfortantely Nikita: The Mystery of the Hidden Treasure has nothing to with Captain Claw as more standalone. Also from I've heard its not good.
Let me tell ye about them platforms 😉
This game deserves more respect beyond the sarcastic voice you're using to make this video, It Is Better Than You.

10 bonks for you.
Captain crunch fursona.
