      there is like three models out there only. The element siamese 8.5 and 8.25, the Ishod Real and the krooked, which is said to be the real shape - and Neen Baker double nose. So effectively two twin tail (even though Ishod shape is almost between nose and tail from length) and a twin nose.
      The brands are sleeping on this so hard. I for my part am looking for a twin tail 8.38 or 8.25 with wheelbase no longer than 14.25 but the market on this is nonexistant. Had both elements. The 8.25 lacks concave over the width and the 8.5 has a wheelbase a bit too long with 14.5. Real Ishod has quite long tails and that's it. How can we get the brands to start offering some variety for twin tails? Or do you know more models? I heard Berger and Appleyard had twin models at some point but nowhere to be seen.

    I love my 8.5” Ishod Cat Scratch: Twin-Tail board. I get to razor tail both sides evenly and never care which side I hop on cause it’s always gonna be the tail. I liked it so much that I bought 4 of them to store away until it’s time to set up a new one.

    Haha, I literally thought I couldn't skate anymore just recently, trying to break in a new pair of shoes. It can take me a sesh or two to get used to a new pair, but these ones had my kickflips flying all over the place while seemingly absorbing 70% of my pop. A week later my confidence on my board was pretty much nil, then I put on my old shoes once and turned out to still be able to skate fine, so threw out the new shoes and got another pair of the ones I had. Bottom line: it's never you and always your gear.

    Can the brands start noticing symmetrical boards are in demand. We have two twin tail shapes out there and one twin nose. Not enough at all. Get those shapes out and people will skate it. With switch skating getting closer to the level of regular execution, symmetrical shapes best support switch learning. Get it on already, don't sleep on this.

    • @Daggermouth8k
      @Daggermouth8k 2 роки тому

      @@kevinp1046 the explanation is when you flick, the longer length of the nose allows you have more surface area to be able to manipulate how the board will flip, level out, etc. the less surface area you have, your flick will be quicker because of how much less your foot needs to travel, but would also require a more precise flick due to the shorter distance the flick needs to be. bigger noses require more effort, but ultimately can yield you a more desired type of flick because the larger size of the nose lets you have more time to adjust. also, larger noses can make your tricks higher due to the longer flick. furthermore, your weaker foot would be towards the front by the nose. so on tricks like nose slides, the traditional larger sized nose could help you balance easier and drag your toe/heel less.

    Been skating the neen twin nose since they came out and honestly it's pretty God damn liberating to never have to think about which way the deck is facing. And it kinda eliminates that voice in your head that tells you "can't" or "can only" do something off the nose or tail. It's hard to go back to normal boards though, when everything locked down I copped as many as I could just in case, lol

    Bushings ofc but nobody talk about pivot cups. Hell there are skaters who don't even know what they are. If you skate the same trucks for 2-3 years the pivot cups are usually worn out and it messes with the overall stability like crazy. Bombing hills or going fast in general becomes dangerous

    We were doing this all the way back since the late 90’s. They didn’t make anything truly symmetrical at that time but there were things that were close. A short lived board company called Renaissance is one that comes to mind. Had a Salman Agah Firm deck was another one. In other words this isn’t a new idea kids, good to see it get some exposure finally though.

    Board madness is real. I took a break from skating and lost 160 pounds I went up a size to a 8.38 thinking it would be way better but I skated horribly I thought I was trash it would take me like 5 try’s to kick flip and lost everything but I went to a 8.125 with low trucks and smaller wheels and I’m like a god compared to what I was now I’m Nollie treflipping and doing full cab flips again and it feels crazy and I’m extremely consistent I can fully grab my tricks. If you suck and don’t know why start changing your board parts around.

    I thought the 'ishod was convinced he cant skate anymore' area of things was way more interesting than the symmetrical board stuff. Symmetrical boards just seem like the obvious conclusion. I dont know why all of my boards forever havent been trying to be symmetrical. I mean, dating back to fish boards at least. There's literally half as many variables to be concerned with in your board shape. Less variables = more consistent (if you got used to it, like a regular board). And your body would develop muscles and technique in a more mirrored sense. I know my body has taught itself to be unbalanced in this sense. But yeah - bushings are the unsung heroes of setups. I think if you put the perfect bushings for you in the shittest setup, as long as the thing rolls i think you could do all of your standard tricks. Just started thinking it consciously, but i believe it enough to say it again - bushings are the unsung heroes of setups.

    Growing up I remember knowing most boards had an obvious nose & tail but I also remember seeing people skate switch and fakie, after which I started assuming that all boards were symmetrical. This is the first I’m seeing that it’s not the standard tbh

    I want to like the symmetrical boards n I do I got one loved the way it felt n rode but it fucking snapped so quick like 30 minutes into skating it tbh tho I was tryna heel flip down a gap so it rlly coulda been any board

    If I rode one I wouldn't want to know it was symmetrical till much later on. Just to try to get use to it.

    I literally quit skating at 20 years old necause i hate the standard boards i always wanted a twin tail and always hated feeling like i can sit on the end of my nose and go fishing. It just makes sense for a board to be symmetrical by standard and anything else is a matter of personal taste.

      Also when the nose and tail are different you have to get accustomed with 2 completely different things, it messes with my head, much simpler being symmetrical I can just skate instead of constantly switching my board back and fourth.

    This is the perfect board for a lot of reasons. I tell anybody who starts skating, learn to ride goofy and regular footed before you do any popping tricks. The beginning of skateboarding is learning to ride the board so why not do it both stance right off. Learn to push with your back foot no matter witch way you skate and carve to build up your muscle memory. If you do this it will get rid of fakie because you’ll always look forward. Basically you’ll mirror you image like a switch hitter in baseball but you’ll never look like your ridding fakie.

    So I grew up skating lots in the 90’s... there wasn’t anything else but symmetrical decks. I came back to skating 7 years ago ish, and it was all asymmetrical, big decks. I thought, what happened here? Lol can anyone fill me in on when this happened, and I guess what was the main catalyst?
