Great video. My sons line trimmer wont start. He's happy to pay mower shop, but current backlog in our area is 12 weeks, so its come to Dad's repair shop! Machine is 24 months old and has been trouble free till now. To date I have replaced plug, and checked spark, looks all OK. Replaced fuel with new stuff, and flushed thru with the primer bulb as best I can. No joy. Next I have got it to kick with aero start with air filter off, so my suspicion is fuel blockage. When I pump primer bulb with air cleaner off and throttle open I can't see any fuel getting injected into the venturi area. I'll probably do a carby clean as per your video, but was wondering if you had any hints before I start. Any comments would be appreciated.
Hi Simon, Nice doing the repair for your son. You're on the right track. Since the engine kicks in when you spray the venturi with aero start, the problem is mainly the carburetor. Go ahead and rebuild the carby with new rebuild kit if possible. Always check the main jet check valve if working properly and don't blow it with compressed air. Dont forget subscribe to our channel. Cheers, VARIETECH P.S. You may refer to this video as well for testing the carby. ua-cam.com/video/bI0lZW5tw0Y/v-deo.html
Thanks for watching and subscribing to our channel. Changing bend shaft to straight shaft is "not straight". I mean it's not straight forward. :) It need to replace to the complete shaft assembly all the way to the clutch assembly because straight shaft is solid rod and not not flexible shaft and needs solid assembly. Also, the trimming head is different and it requires left hand thread/nut. Cheers, VARIETECH
Hi, Thank you for your video. Recently my GX 25 suddenly had the problem it will start but then quickly stop. It seemed to me there was some air in the priming pump, then I noticed there was a crack in the bulb so I replaced it and see that it does not fill to the top like it does in your video, and if you keep pumping it just seems there are a lot of air bubbles going back through the return line. I'm wondering should the bulb be completely full of fuel? Thank you.
Hi Dave, Thanks for watching our video. After couple of primes roughly 5 primes, the primer should fill up to the top and will almost clear any bubble on the return line. The possible fault for this one is air leaks through the pump and metering gaskets, primer base check valve (red mushroom like rubber) and mainjet check valve (3mm round black disc). Best to fully rebuild the carby and check those two check valve before assembly. You can refer to this video. ua-cam.com/video/9vDc-JRwh10/v-deo.html. Varitech
@@Varietech-AU Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I replaced the old carburettor with a new one and it is doing the same thing. Now I am sitting here going through all the videos I can find to see what other causes there might be. I'm wondering if the fuel cap could have a blocked breather. Not sure now, it's a real puzzler, could even be a timing issue but it hasn't been used a great deal, and so sudden. Today for some reason I could get it to rev a bit better but it won't idle, and adjusting the idle screw doesn't work. Really not sure now, not working after replacing the carby really puzzles me.
@@dave9111 Did you replace it with genuine carby? Coz some aftermarket carby doesn't work as you mentioned. We have those troubled aftermarket carby which we are not selling. Best is to rebuild the genuine carby. Also check the compression. Varietech
@@Varietech-AU ok, yes I was thinking this earlier too, I have been disappointed a few times buying aftermarket stuff, i will need to get a full rebuild kit including all necessary check valve seals, and new bulb check valve. Can you supply me with this? Also I noticed in your video, there was no gasket under the diaphragm on my original carby (strange) I believe the compression is totally fine since it has quite some resistance to start it but if I can get a tester somewhere, then I will.
Great video....I have one issue, after stripping mine it now starts but stalls when i engage the accelerator...any ideas? I did turn the cross head screw located on the mesh side. Thanks
Hi mate, love your videos..I have a Ryobi 2 stroke brush cutter that spits out brown liquid 3-4 times from exhaust when trying to start. It starts n runs after. Why does it do this? Thanks mate
Thanks for watching our videos. This could possibly be water old off fuel deposit in the crankcase that pushed into the combustion which spits out of the muffler. Best is to empty the fuel tank, remove the sparkplug, tilt the engine upside down with sparkplug hole facing downward and keep cranking the engine or pull starter to release old oil in the crankcase. Cheers, VARIETECH
@@Varietech-AU thanks so much, really appreciate your help. Just got an eBay carby kit which has the spark plug, fuel n air filers, fuel hoses, carburetor etc all only $21, I think its from China, hope its not bad? I want change the filters n fuel lines but not the carburetor ( till it plays up). I will do as you said, remove plug n crank to get water n old oil out

Likely, nag seized yung piston. The most common problem is kulang sa langis or napabayaan na walang langis. The best option is ibabad ng WD40 sa look ng spark plug overnight at gradually gamitan ng rattle gun ang tawag nyan ay impact wrench directly sa starter pawl assy to crank the engine slowly para dahan-dahan ma move yung piston at tuloyan mo free up. hi recently purchased comp tester on ebay $23.50 looks the same in orange case that reads about 50% of what you would expect ,it holds air , so disapointed
I think there is a problem with this type of detachable guage compression tester and not ideal for small engine. Nothing but gives you only reading and makes the repair more difficult. Sad to say but I also have one which I paid $70 from Supercheap.
Thank you very much for this detailed walkthrough mate!

Rather than the engine sound
It's good to hear the sound of a child next to you 😂😂
He is busy at school and UA-cam gaming contents. 🙂
you should use a little silicone spray on the jet o-ring, throttle valve and pump diaphragm. Makes easier assembly and smoother use.

Mate, I think they have an exhaust decompression eazi start, so don’t think you are going to get a proper reading.

Hi. My Honda 425 will not pull to start. The coil is fine but the crank assembly will not turn
Any suggestions please
It's possibly snapped timing belt of engine seized. Open the crankcase rocker-arm cover and check the belt.
Ok thank you, give that a try
