Swiss literally simulated 2 md82 crashes in this video
4:48 Spanair flight 5022
7:24 Alaska airlines flight 261
Oh no😭😭
This is why I had a flash-back like it's "umm these crashes looks so familiar to me but ok..."😭
The Alaska flight would have been absolutely horrifying for the passengers, as they were awake the whole way down.
4:48 is also like Northwest flight 255
@@R2Bl3nd yeah
Plane: gives swiss a warning that the plane isn’t configured for takeoff
Swiss: WHY IS THE CLIMB PERFORMANCE SO BAD?!
He re-created the scenario of Northwest Flight 255 basically
Climb performance is trash tho ngl😭
Pov: Spanair pilots
My comment on "missing IRS" panel:
This MD-80 actually simulates a version without the IRS and it uses an AHRS (attitude heading reference system) system instead. AHRS only provides heading and attitude, so position has to be provided by DMEs and/or GPS (or other system that provides position).
There are also some CRJs in RL without IRS (with AHRS only) so they are fully dependant on GPS/DMEs for position.
The SR22 you are flying also has an AHRS onboard. The C172 I fly has 2 independant AHRS systems in Garming G5 system.
Thats true.
what kind of cessna are you flying? Im pretty sure most (at my flight school at least) have one AHRS
@@SpidaMez I made PPL on the one that had 2xGarmin G5 and each unit has its own AHRS (PFD and HSI that is coupled to NAV1 and GNS430). It is a 1998 model, that was retrofitted later.
@@branimirfilovski8388 ah. makes sense, I'm working on my ppl in a Cessna 172SP, from 2013. It has a garmin G5 on it. Interesting how different some models can be.
@@SpidaMez I heard that there is an option to have one G5 with AHRS and the other one without it. So the other one uses the AHRS of the "master" G5. If the G5 that has the AHRS fails, the other functioning AHRS also won't work.
When everyone reviewd the maddog for 2hours... swiss did it in 8minutes 🤣🤣🤣... Magnificent😎
Ikr
Wait... It wasnt macdonnel?Oh no im not a aviation expert!
@@PLZENg it is a McDonald. But the nickname is maddog.
@@PLZENg It's called McDonnell Douglas lol
Magnicifent
Swiss: “the MD80 doesn’t fly irl anymore” me as an Iranian: wtf
lmao!
7:24 Swiss is becoming Alaska 261 pilot
Was on stream earlier, bro sat on the ramp for an hour trying to figure how to start it up, absolutely loved it.
You now its a good add-on when you can interact with the circuit breakers.
Yeah thanks for review. As a genuine flight simmer who knows the systems of p3d high fidelity aircraft , i think this is a gr8 purchase. But it's a little bit old for a jet and I am not really good at flying old jets. But this has similar cockpit to 717 so might think over it
When I flew on the MD-83 in real life for Delta, our aircraft had exceptional runway performance taking off at ATL so I'm not sure why in this simulator it's very bad..
It seems like swiss had the nose wheel chocks still in place lol.
I flew the md 82 a lot, the add-on isn't that realistic
@@FrostbitexP oh shit I think ur right lmao. Not unlikely I always forget about them on the CRJ
@@FrostbitexP I don't think it is chocks. It is something used to land at non-asphalt runways. 737 classics also had them.
the aircraft is giving swiss001 a takeoff configuration warning, that's why the takeoff performance was bad in the sim
2:35 *sad md80 noises*
Can we just Notice how hard Swiss works, he literally recorded, edited and posted a video for this new complicated add on in a day. Love your vids and keep up the good work!
And he streamed twice yesterday
Doesn't swiss001 pay editors to edit for him?
@@avfx111 yea I think
@@avfx111 edited this one myself
@@Swiss001 cool we apreaciate your work
imagine McDonalds started to serve people their “MD80” 😂
Obligatory commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:HB-IUH_McDonnell_Douglas_MD-83_Crossair_(McDonalds_livery)_ZRH_20MAR99.jpg
Definitely, the winner from this weekend was the Just Flight BAe 146. Way better value for a product. Lets wait for 737 now.
From 6:52 to 6:58, sounds just like the aliens from the movie Mars attacks. 😂😂😂 did anybody else notice that?
You should probably use flaps for takeoff..lol. They help with the unperformantyness
Always a good day when a new Swiss video pops up
FYI, I think that the chocks were in place for the takeoff, but idk.
It looked like that for the nose gear.
4:27 i see he watched the grand tour’s jaaag episode
loved that D.B Cooper joke
I’ve seen a little bit of this aircraft during the stream and this aircraft looks amazing!
I know
@Quinzerrak if you would actually be bothered to learn the aircraft then it is worth it. dont buy this aircraft if you arent interested in study level simulation haha
For the reverse thrust it's the "Decrease thrust" keybind for some reason.
Yesterday I’ve boarded two MadDogs
7:32 // Uhh... This video using time machine?
7:24 that reminds me of an interesting Alaska flight........
AYYYYYYY YOU FINALLY GOT THE THING THAT GIVES YOO INFO ON UR LANDING!!!!!
7:24 Alaskans are gonna be pissed 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
7:27 “Alright inverted flying doesn’t seem to work.”
Alaska Airlines: RRRRRREEEEEEEEEE!
In some cities in Mexico you can see everything from dc-9-10, dc-9-30, md-80 and Fairchild Metro liner
aero mexico livery for mad dog is hot
Swiss: theres no lavatory
Also swiss: whats the point in this plane
Swiss going crazy on these maddog uploads
i tried to get the ipad to work for 2 HOURS and all i to do was hold it!!!!!! thanks for saving me another two hours swiss
Just got into MSFS, absolutely love it! Love your videos, was pleasantly surprised to learn you're from Germany. I was born in Pirmasens.
We are getting close to celebrate the fifth anniversary of uploading videos dayly swiss001
I want an MD-80 to carry my casket to my funeral
Asking for a refund: there is no lavatory in the airplane
LOL
I’m faster than the mad dog when it comes to clicking on the notification
Who asked?
Lmao
I keep reloading his page till a new videos up... all day
I saw it during stream, beautiful plane
6:48 yes dEfINEtLY pronounced ecko dEfINEtLY
pretty nice plane
Good Videos Like Always. Made My Day!
Man the MD-80 looks awesome!!
You have to love the angry puppy, it's proper old school flying.
7:31 normal Ryanair flight
I WATCHED THE STREAM THIS MORNING!!!!!!
Same
MD-80 is one of my favorite planes!
some md80s do not have irs just letting you know
I would so buy this but if i told my mom how much money it was, she would say no before i could even give details.
"enjoy your empy wallets" that got me
Who's watching this since two hours ago
Swiss every 5 secs “but that’s another story”
has circuit breaker functionality but no IRS alignment? interesting...
Some MD80s are not equipped with IRS. Instead with AHRS system, especially on newer EFIS and Honeywell FMS equipped.
Im going to take a wild guess and assume the A320 outperforms the MD80 handedly. Just a guess though.
2:44 in German we say "Werbeopfer"
Can you fly to changi airport
95$? What a joke, the Concorde was already pushing it but this is a whole other level.
Maddog X has 100x more features than the Concorde. Just buy some arcade aircraft instead if you just want eye candy
Butter takeoff 65fpm 😳
Standy attitude indicator looks borked lol
If anyone sees Swiss' videos for anything other than entertainment, you're on the wrong channel. I love serious channels, but I love Swiss for the entertainment. I had to defend him in the comments of another "serious" video because someone was saying he was hurting the flight sim community. Not everyone has to fly five hour flights from startup to shutdown at the gate. People hate fun for some reason.
That might have been me on my first encounter with this gentleman but I've been catching up and he has a niche market going on and some originality in debunking pseudo seriousness in modern sims...so I changed my mind about his channel!
I’m so glad his channel exists. This is my type of entertainment
are we not going to talk about how bloody quiet the thing is in the cockpit :( cant even tell when im full power half power etc
thats what your instruments, and your throttle levers are for
OH i love that plane
“What’s that smell”-MD-80 pilot
Bought it. Haven't flown it yet. I wanna first fly it as american or delta!
Guys, Respect Swiss, he does all this content for us and learns all about Aviation for us.
Whut?
You should try a game called World of Airports! It's really good!
I'd says it's more like starting up a BMW, I have plenty of experience!
Me realizing two seconds after he takes off that the nose landing gear break is still on
Swiss what you did while take off is a northwest flight 255
Swiss ur engines were off and at the moment u took off the engines turned on and were almost running lol!
You need to hit the toga switch for takeoff
dont worry in iran its the primary airplane in airlines
Md82 still in "regular" operation by European Air Charter based around Sofia.
I realize that he did not activate the flaps when taking off, that's why the plane took time to take off lol
Bro recreated Alaska airlines thingy💀
Do you not have to set the Air X-feed levers to make starting possible ? If I start a DC-9 /MD80/MD82 in p3d or XP11 I need to do a lot more before it will start. Is this all set by default to make it kindergarden-studilevel or did you set hose things before you started the video ?
It’s called the pneumatic valves. And you technically cannot start the engine on the maddogX without it being on.
how do you get your addons i tride to but i wont worke can you give any advice and you are my favoite youtobre swiss001
Welcome aboard the Loganair style maddog
89 Euros, way too much XD
Bru posting a vid at 12 am in Europe 😅
the md-80 needs 1300 meters of runway
Just a 8 min version of the stream
4:43 we paid whole runways we use whole runways 😂
The MD-80 looks like someone stretched the 717
They are both descendants of the DC-9.
Everyone always talks 30 min to 1 or 2 hours about a plane. Swiss just only talks 10, 8 minutes lol.
what a plane :)
Miss the md80
do a Q&A!!!
can you automatically load the flight plan from the sim into the plane?
Hey Swiss! I was just wondering if with these mfs2020 add-ons if you could change the livery?
yes
4:51 It is if you forget to extend the flaps.
The person who made the add on trying to figure out how jb Cooper got out the plane
How can you do these reviews so quickly lol?
can you plz tell me how to fix the purchase pending in msfs
7:30 tarom flight 371 be like
There's something wrong with that MD-80 it's usually way more powerful
I think it is worth it ngl.
did no one notice that the performance was not good because u fogot to take out the pucks that hold the plane still i was laughing so hard once i saw that
The performance was bad because Swiss didn't use the correct flaps or slats T/O select, which is why the plane was yelling at him on takeoff. It was giving him a config warning.
And actually, those aren't chocks on the nose gear. Those are spray deflectors to ensure the engines don't get flooded by water and slush spraying from the nose gear.
This plane is definitely as good or better as it's P3D version, and once it's setup correctly it's very intuitive. But getting used to the quirks of it are why we love it!
7:25 totally me
happy eid for all my muslim brothers and sisters here!!!
Definitely not worth $90... elevators don't animate smoothly, lateral flight dynamic lacks fluidity - just my opinion of course.
The control surfaces aren't supposed to move on the ground, they use a direct connection flying tab system so when there is no airflow over them they wont move, except the elevator which has an antistall function to move them down with the hydralics.
The MD80 ailerons and elevators are aerodynamically controlled by push ‘control’ tabs, not hydraulically.
