Yeah, just use melee. The guns do hardly any damage compared to how much a melee can do. Use jarate and the Bushwacka for a deadly 195x2 combo, since the Fists-of-Steel make him take 100% MORE damage, whereas anything else is denied by a 40% resistance against guns and explosives.
You could have made your melee weapon faster witch would be useful for i case of running out of amo and if sniper you could have thrown piss at the guy but as scout you should use the mad milk as well
Protip for Captain Punch: Have medic with medi gun and spy. Medic uses uber to spy and stands infront of Captain Punch taking agroes while spy backstabs. If done right, it dies in 10-18 seconds.

I found sergent crits to be VERY EASY, my team killed him before he even left the tunnel. Keep in mind this was BEFORE the two cities update
