This video mentions a lot of specs that other publications missed while keeping it compact and information dense. Great work 👏
There’s many reasons why Vincent is best of the best, this being one of them.
LG had it for 5 years and now we even get budget TVs with 4x 2.1 but MediaTek‘s flagship SOC still doesn‘t support it in 2024. Looks like the company needs some changes!
The fact that LG was the only manufacturer to have 4 HDMI 2.1 ports for 5 YEARS in the fast moving world of tech is insane.
They weren't the only one though. Samsung has had 4 HDMI 2.1 ports since 2022 on the S95B. I'm not sure if there were any lcd's that had them as well, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were. I just don't get why Mediatek has refused to make a chipset that supports it for so long
Yeah.. and many TVs and Monitors still only come with 2.0 ports 🙈
@@SterkeYerke5555Bruh, what? Since 2022 isn't five years.
@SterkeYerke5555 Dude I have a C9 with 4 HDMI 2.1 ports. It is a TV from 2019.
@@credoTI I know! It's only three years older than the S95B, not five
Concise with needed information to know, great video as always!
New OLED TVs incoming
Please officially bring these back to the US, Phillips! Something tells my semi OCD brain that the AmbiLight would be exceedingly pleasant.
What a fantastic no nonsense review without the blah blah millionth time introductions. Mr Teoh!
Fantastic stuff as always.
The internal design speakers of 959 are beautifully made. This will omit the use of a soundbar and will complement the environment of the living room really well. However the size is not quite big enough. Wish they’d offer a 77 option as well.
Why cant they allow to connect rear speakers and sub to that integrated soundbar system? I mean it's good, but at the very least - some philips or BW branded should be compatible? Otherwise the offer kinda looks half assed, they reserve the best panels for the models with soundbar (like panasonic does) but wont let you to build around that soundbar system..
@@bwellington3001 I think something like that should be compatible, but it's probably still half arsed either way. I've been beta testing the 935 and 936 since 2020 and the output to the subwoofer - which Philips themselves bundled with the 935 we originally got! - still doesn't work properly. Worse still, audio and video still aren't synced with the integrated soundbar when using HDMI inputs, but Philips deny that that's a problem 😑
@@SterkeYerke5555 the true rears is what truly makes a difference. You can get away with not having “bounced” speakers, but actual rears are necessary for surround. I have a small room and have 930b samsung - if you install dolby access on PC the upmixing is very convincing.
@@bwellington3001 Because the soundbar is specifically built so you don't need rear speakers. Thats how that soundbar is designed. If they designed it so that you can add subs and rear speakers the actual sound bar would need to be designed differently which would not benefit the purpose of the front sound design.
If you want rear speakers or a sub just save money and get a LG G4 and then get a separate tiny soundbar system. There are so many TV options I don't see why people complain about Phillips going after the high end all in one solution.
this is very stupid, this soundbar won't beat the Samsung soundbar anyway. it won't beat a mid-range home theater either, so in my opinion it's a stupid solution. OLED is usually bought by people who expect a cinematic experience and there is no saving on sound, but what do you pay for a soundbar that you will not use. because you're not so naive that it's free, are you?😊
Thank you Vincent.
In the future looking at your tv will be like looking into the sun. We will be sitting with sunglasses.
Philips OLED TVs should be in the conversation for best TVs, I have a 807 and it's been amazing for me
They’re great TVs but the margin for “best” is slim because there’s so many great options now.
Philips lol….thats the last tv brand I would spend my money on. I would rather buy a knockoff PamPung Oled than a Philips. They should stick to lamps

Nice hat Vincent.
Man I wish the 909 came without the soundbar or at least removable. It’s an eyesore if you already had one and diminishes the bottom Ambilight effect.
My preference is still oled but if you want to convince current LCD owners Fulfilled brightness is gonna have to be increased massively as it hasn't changed much at all since 2015, My current OLEDTV from 2015 Has a full free brightness of about 160 nits, this year's G3 lg's brightest offering only has a fulfilled value of 225 nits.
Vincent, I’d love it if you could do a review of Panasonic’s MX950 given it’s the first time they’ve dipped their toes into the mini LED market. I’d love to see how it stacks up against the competition given how excellent Panasonic’s image processing is.
2:03 is that list for both 909 or only for 959? Explicitly asking if the VRR Shadow Enhancer is limited to the dual-chip 959 or also coming to the 909?
How are those Philips Oled tvs for gaming?

Interessting but why do you talk about philips 2024'Tvs where you didnt show us about 2023 tv set ?
Any info about panels in Hisense OLED models for 2024 ?
Can anyone explain what an actual doubling of perceptual brightness difference would be when it comes to nit measurements for peak brightness? From my understanding it’s based on a logarithmic curve so 2000 nits isn’t perceptually twice as bright as 1000 nits, unlike photography where 1 stop of exposure increase would be a doubling in brightness, so I’m curious as to where can I see a curve that does represent this that would theoretically include up to some of the 10,000 nit displays demonstrated at CES this year, if my LG C2’s peak brightness is around the 800 nit mark, what nits would genuinely be a perceptual doubling or even tripling of peak brightness?
Been using an 806 for a couple of years now so got my eye on that 909 as a possible upgrade
Dont do it, you will loose hue integration

When will you review the current lineup? Always trust your Philips TV reviews 😀
Is there an option without the soundbar?
Philips deserves more attention anyways. It's basically a LG panel with Ambilight and great functions, Android TV and great desig❤️
I wish that they were sold in America… 😢

yeah its highly annoying that theres no ambilight OLEDs available in the USA, I'd be a day 1 buyer
Right, at this point if people are still complaining that 3000nits isn't bright enough. Please go stare at the sun.
Vincent… Please help end my turmoil !!
It’s been 5 weeks, hours and hours and hours spent online - and I cant decide…
LG G2 77 - £2700 - awesome, but Coil whine issues not covered under warranty and pot luck if you get it…
LG G3 77 - £3400 - again awesome, but VRR flicker is an issue with many forums of people talking about it - looks like no fix and LG cant help.
X95L - £3500 - awesome, bigger, but not OLED
Or X90L ? More in budget, but on the above level?
"It’s been 5 weeks, hours and hours and hours spent online - and I cant decide… "
Oh boy, I'm approaching my 2nd week and never taken so long buying an electrical item before. People probably buy cars quicker than they buy TVs, but I blame the manufacturers for hiding certain details costing us time in research. An example are the panel types (VA and IPS) that they themselves tell us are important, yet keep quiet about in the specs! Playing mind games like this is taking the fun out of it. Fed up with listening to all the sales speech too - I may crack the next time someone tells me a TV is "breath-taking", "stunning" and "beautiful" but not mentioning that there are plenty of cons.
United States has left the chat
When will Philips sell their OLEDs in North America? The last TV I had from them was a 30PW9100D/37.
Funai has the North American Philips license, and TP Vision has the Philips license for the rest of the world. I doubt that TP Vision will be able to sell its TVs in North America unless it uses a different brand, and setting up a whole new sales network for a new brand in North America from scratch is quite an expensive challenge that probably won’t turn a profit when there are so many other budget tier brands with big sales networks to compete against like Hisense, TCL, Vizio, and Funai’s Philips.
@@jnvivian So, if I’m understanding this correctly, they are pretty much two completely different companies that are Philips in name only and can only operate under the name Phillips in their parts of the world.
Lol... I really don't believe one more LED strip would have affected the price all that much.
I also think like that
Yup they are lying
The weakest TV in their lineup having 4 HDMI 2.1 ports but the flagship TV only having 2 HDMI 2.1 ports is so stupid. 🤣🤣🤣
LG is coming for the crown this year LG G4 should be KING OF 24 OLED
Guys need advice, should i get LG C3 now or wait for C4 ?
What is HDR format max on that Phillips
Hdr10+
I don't need 4 HDMI 2.1 ports, I actually just need 3 but no one offers just 3 ;)
You would need one and a half Pentonics for that.
LGW OLED only had three 😂
2hdmi 2.1ports is enough as long as none of them is eArc as well.
Are you going to do a review of the movie picture quality of the Apple Vision Pro ?
My LG CX screen broke I'm upgrading with my income tax I was going to go with the LG G3 because of the better brightness but now seeing the G4 has 144hz I game on both consoles and PC so what do you guys think I should get for gaming alone.
I hear ya, my LG OLED 65B7P is on its second screen, and it too like the first screen, has significant burn in from CNBC unfortunately and it drives me nuts and I want a new TV.. I'm debating between the G3, Sony A95L, or the G4 or the newest Sony highest end 65 inch, lol I'm waiting for reviews to drop first and hopefully prices. I've never owned a Sony TV before, but I do own a PS5. I also have a 77"cx that I rarely watch in my great room. Bummer yours broke, what happened?
Consoles can’t even consistently do 120hz and even pro gamers can’t tell the difference between 120hz and 144hz.
@shanew7361 kids threw something across the room and it hit the very corner of it and it messed the whole screen up smh it was a sad sad day for sure
@nickjurkovic6831 on PS5 almost all of there exclusive titles are 120fps and if not all of them support VRR and unlocked framerate getting me anywhere between 80 to 110fps. Also I'm not wanting 144hz for smoothness I want it for input latency. The higher framerate you play at the lower the input latency is. I know I would have to have a beast of a PC to run 4k 120fps or even 144 in that matter but it's better to go ahead and future proof if you ask me. It's nice to know I have 144hz option if I want it know what I mean. I went with the 65" LG G3 I couldn't wait any longer.
Vincent could you please do a video on DTM on Sony TV's? Everyone likes to say that you should just use HGIG but nobody has come up with a solution for Sony. After setting up HDR on the PS5 with DTM off, do you then turn it back on? If not, how do you fix games looking so dark with DTM off? Also, I have tried adjusting brightness in-game on a couple of games and it washes the picture out, any suggestions? Thanks!
Is there going to be a Sony A95M
5 years on and they are still playing catch up! If they moved the eArc over to one of the hdmi 2.0 ports it would make life easier for those who need the 2 * 2.1 ports..
no they can't do that because then it makes your high end receiver worthless. For people with receiver with hdmi 2.1 they need the EARC port to be hdmi 2.1.

If the color volume cant match qd-oled it wont matter. Lg did say this will boost color volume so lets see.
In this video, though, it’s about Phillips TV, Vincent revealed that MLA technology comes in two brightness flavours which other people did not mention or even know, so that’s quite interesting to hear.
I keep hearing « The OLED Plasma » Pick a technology already 😂

Do you understand that you are an exception to the rule. I guess 99% of most people need no more than the 4 ports provided.
So is it logical to demand a more expensive TV's because YOU want more.
Or is it more logical that you and the rest of the 1% buy an HDMI-switcher?

-A DP port
-better speakers

My new Samsung 65" S95C OLED TV, experiences seemingly random 2-5 second drop outs of both video and audio while trying to play PlayStation 5. I have tried multiple certified 2.1 HDMI cables in multiple ports on my One Connect Box, and this has not changed the situation. When connecting to ps5 I experience black screen and no signal situation when game mode on is prompt . I'm not alone on this either, as there are several people on Reddit who are also mentioning experiencing the same issue.
“5.1.2 integrated sound system discreetly housed within the TV‘s chassis” - sure, that’s totally what 5.1.2 means. 😅
3% window, not 10%? At super high/inaccurate white point? Why even report the claim that it can do 3000 nits when it is effectively BS?
909 have 4 sided ambilights, cant wait to buy it. Hopelly before BF 2024.
Philips is an overnight sensation type of brand. Vinny will talk about it enthusiastically for a short time then completely lost track of it for the rest of the year 😢
How do you think they compare to the third generation QD-OLED panels announced by Samsung also said to be capable of 3000 nits?
Also, why all this focus on peak brightness rather than full white brightness? I have a very, very bright room and my TV will be behind the mirror that blocks a decent bit of light. So I really need a lot of practical brightness and exactly 55” to fit in the hole in the wall, no bigger.
Do I simply have to use a mini-LED, or will the 2024 OLEDs finally be bright enough? Because I really like the look of this OLED technology better every time I compare them to backlit LCD crystals, even the best most modern mini LED backlight arrays… I just need more brightness.
I want display ports on tv's also.
The Pioneer Kuro series had that. Well, physically at least.
This is all good and well but Philips TVs are not available in the United States.
You can buy Philips in Canada but not OLEDS...
Does anybody know if there is a TV with gigabit ethernet yet?
I mean, I have all the devices (PS5, Xbox and PC), but I just connected it to my Denon AVR-X2800H and an eARC connection - Am I missing anything, if I do not connect them directly? DolbyVision seems to work fine and my display is 120hz, so I should be fine I think.
All at full 48gbps and no cabling issues?

Hi, I’m looking to buy a gaming montitor 32inch for a xbox series x but I’m so confused on which ones are good I want to spend around £1,000 give or take. I care about picture quality… I read that OLEDs don’t have a long life span. Please help thanks
Phillips TV, are not made by the original Phillips company, Phillips had been bought by another third-party company who use the Phillips name, so I don’t regard Phillips highly, compared to other mainstream TV companies
Does that mean philips will have panels with 3k nits, LG will have 2.3k nit pannels? Or maybe first batch for G4/M4 will have 2.3K nit panels, later on we will see newer G4/M4 with 3k nit panels!
OK so here's the plan Philips: drop the B&W speakers from the 959 and put the cost into the 4 sided lense array ambilight and then come back to Australia. Thank you thank you
Oooh no....G4 or now...Philips???
It's so deceptive to refer to an OLED as bright. Tell me what it's full field peak brightness capabilities are. I bet it can't even touch 300 nits which is pathetic. AV reviewers are so disingenuous, they don't show you the whole picture, just what the manufacturers want you to see.
Plus they go on about "improvement" in brightness every year, as if differences aren't pretty much negligible. This channel makes it sound like every new model is much better than the previous.
I am waiting until Blue Phosphorescent is implemented in 2025
How I do get my Panasonic 2000 over in the US?? Anyone know?
As a Philips 77oled937 owner I truly don’t get the 2024. The “flagship” is now 65 inch max with 3 sided ambilight. While mid range 909 is up to 77 inch with 4 sided ambilght. Can’t figure the logic behind this.
Like Vincent said, they're doing some sort of lense array on the over the LEDs. Could very well be BS that one more side "would cost too much" but there is clear logic here
the sound quality out of the speaker is incredibly poor on new screens. Record bad sound.
the experience comes from LG OLED.
that weird moment when the single entry level chip has more connection inputs than dual "flagship" chips lmao
Also, what's the point of the 959 compared to the 909? I only se an increase in the speaker channels and that's it, so better audio? Buying a standalone soundbar could be a good alternative if the price is high
Phillips use lg display. So it's half a lg with 4x hmi 2.1 ports.🎉
ambilight is an interesting feature really enhanced immersive experience especially in JP animation I would pay for it, but it looks like no big differnece on 2024 model?
Hey, could you make a video about AW3225QF?
Regrettably making the picture brighter still doesn't improve its ability to reproduce the wider colour gamut that QD-OLED are capable of.
3000 nits at 10000 K sounds more like 2000 nits after calibration.
UA-cam cancelled your videos from tags 😂
It's funny to see how the lowest-end of Philips OLEDs have 4x HDMI 2.1 and the others have only 2x HDMI 2.1.
i wish they made lg g4 42 inch
Really? They had to keep costs under control by cutting a bottom row of RGB LEDs used for the built-in bias lighting? Lol sounds like BS
kinda unrelated but I've always thought that using RGB logos and stuff was dumb and that manufacturers should just make it sync to the content to blend it in to the surroundings, but actually now that I see it being done I'm not so sure i like how it looks. It feels more distracting to me whenever the image and color off screen dont match than any benefits for immersion or anything... Maybe its different in person and maybe it'll get better in the future but for right now, I dont know.
I can see ambilight being fun for some sports and game shows, and I expect my children would love it for cartoons. For 'proper' film watching ambilight is great for creating a D95 backlight.
LG G4 would be a BEAST tv if they make better motion like Sony, no VRR flickering, no pink tint issues, WebOS is super cool unlike f......Tizen garbage
If you watch movies at night, is 3000 nits not going to feel insanely bright? I struggle with my qd oled on anything more than 50% brightness on an evening. Is it just me or are these brightness levels meant for brighter rooms?
No. A typical LCD will still have brighter 100% window. 3000 is only at peak 1%, or as advertised 4%. It's very small details. Besides, how we perceive brightness nits does not work like that. You will not feel the same impact going from 1000 to 2000 as you do from 300 to 800. It will still be the best for dark rooms. It's not even close to real life brightness outside or how bright your lamps can get. Just try looking at them directly.
I don't care about peak brightness at 3% windows just give me an oled that can hold 400 nits at 100% white window. That's where oleds fall behind... existing ones are plenty bright in small windows..
There is a dell laptop that can already do this with its oled but for some reason LG display and Samsung display have super cautious ABL.
I only want to connect 1 pc, 1 ps5 pro , 1 e arc system to a tv.
Lucky my 4 years old lg b9 can do it without switching cables every time I want to play pc.
How the hell multi thousand tvs cant do it.
phillips tvs arent a usa product no phillips tvs are even sold in america
this high nit/lumen HDR TV-s ruin your eyes permanently, try to use them at the lowest brightness that is still comfortable...
How do you know ??
