I have a question, I ended up getting the same answer but I still want to make sure that I am doing it right. So on the last word problem regarding the shadow and flag, I put the 40 on the top so that I could cross out the lengths between the 6ft length and the 40 ft length, like how you were having us do in the previous word problems, why do you place the 40 on bottom?
There are several ways of doing problems correctly, especially when it comes to proportions and dimensional analysis. The more you practice these, the more you will realize that. I did it differently with the same answer. Im getting it but doing it how it works for me. I divided 3 times 40 (8×5) then i divided by 120 and got 9
As long as you understand WHEN to multiply vs. WHEN to divide, then your approach is fine.
I have been studying for the TEAS for a few months. And I just took the exam today. I wanted to say thank you so much for your help. I made a 90 on the math portion, and lots of your examples on your channel are VERY similar/ almost identical to what I saw on the exam! Absolutely! There are so many ways to do math problems correctly. :)
can you do Dimensional Analysis on all word problems?
Any problem that can be solved with a proportion(s) can be solved using dimensional analysis. There are still word problems that cannot be solved with dimensional analysis though... such as statistic word problems, geometry word problems, etc.

Can you solve all proportions with DA?
EDIT: to my understanding DA is best used when comparing 3 or more things and proportions are great for two things like in the last problem, correct?
You are correct. DA is good for when you have more than two things getting compared.
