[unfair] Actioncam Shootout - Sony FDR-3000 vs GoPro Hero 5 black + Karma Grip

On our last snowboard trip, Marc and me had both, the Sony FDR-3000 and the GoPro Hero 5 black incl. Karma Grip, with us. We decided to do a little actioncam shootout, which admittedly isn't completely fair. The GoPro uses a gimbal, meaning it has way more space for stabilization. However, the Sony seems to have a better white balance. But check the footage and decide for yourself.
All footage is raw. On the GoPro we used the ProTune flat setting, which makes the image have less contrast then e.g. the Sony one but leaves more options for color grading in post.

FDR-X3000 STARTED HEATING UP on day 31.
Purchased it from Amazon's CAMETA CAMERA Bundle deal.
Barely missed the 30 days money back by one 1 day and Cameta Rejected my request for an Exchange
HEATS UP after Recording on 1080p, Medium, 50mbs, 60fps after 52, a few minutes later I get the shutdown message, then it stops recording about 10 min. later, then finally it SHUTS DOWN by itself.
This SUCKS. On 4K is even worst, I can smell the heat coming out of this camera. I haven't been able to record no more than 28 min 4K video clips. then wait for a while before I can record the next 4K
I'm Now Stuck with this crappy Cam from Sony. I've tried to send it to Precision Camera (Sony's preferred Repair Shop) but are broken just like the camera. I have a small video about all these symptoms on youtube. let me know if you want to see it..
Ashame Shameful Sony Crap. I'm stuck with an almost $400 piece of crap.

The vibrant colours, the definition of the whites and the only optical stabilisation action camera on the market. It’s a no brainier! Sony all day long! I’ve just bought mine and it’s on its way. The down side looks like it’s best on a goggle strap like yours is but picks up the side of the goggles in the shot. Plus it’s massive! But then again, without a gamble your other option is to look like a tele tubby. What other cam positions have you tried? I’m thinking selfie stick and a chesty or bag strap mount. The board footage with suction cup looks pretty poor and not found a decent one to buy from reviews, they all say they fall off, even the GayPro one. Great video guys, happy boarding 🏂👌
A fair test would’ve been the Sony with the gimble but that’d look like it was on tracks. Im sure it won’t be long before GoPro direct the fdr and make their own optical stabiliser.
