To me, Dennis and Vinnie killed it that day. Dennis' musicality is impresive. His control on the kit, amazing. His Sound, bright and articulated. I'm not sure that crowd knew that they were gonna experience that day watching him.
DON'T FORGET GADD'S LEGENDARY COWBELL GROOVE THAT WENT HARD AF!!!!
This is by far the best drumming i have ever heard and I have been a drummer for 40 years...holy smokes...Buddy just would have thrown his sticks in the air and said...."I quit...Dennis is the king now."
Two Kings! No problem. :-)
Buddy's ego would never allow that, haha.
You may think that but Buddy always had an extra gear in drum battles
Deep n True!
Buddy wouldn't say that if God himself just did a triple flamadiddle...
I'm never ever not amazed at these two performances. The shit hes doing on the double bass alone is mindblowing, and then the arm stuff in the second song solo is...incomparable to anything I've ever seen.
When I saw these two solos in high school it changed my life
I remember seeing this video in high school 25 years ago, DC fan ever since. One of the all time greatest.
@6:17 - That's Bruce Paulsen, the Trombone instructor at UNLV! I remember him mentioning in big band rehearsals that he used to play in the Buddy Rich big band but I had never seen or heard anything until now.
For me, this is one the best videos of the World 🔥
Like a Freight Train barreling down the Tracks!!
Power & Finesse
The drumming world is better because of this guy.
Your words are correct.
You can hear every beat Dennis plays loud and clear....Those murderous singles on snare at 4:35.... Damn!!!!!!
Right
Not sure about this but I think it’s a 6 stroke roll. Sounds like it
RllrrL RllrrL
Thank you mr. Dennis Chambers for all the drumming inspiration!!!
Much respect my Drum Guru off all time🙏
I’m who I am just because of you mr. Chambers and this particular video!!!
My life changing and moment happened just because off you sir!!!
Much respect ✊ and God bless you Richly🙏🌞✊
Even now, (in 2013), there are several "top" drummers that couldn't even come close to
playing with BR Bigband like Dennis did in 1989. Listen to how tight the whole piece is.
almost unbelievable.
YOU ARE SO RIGHT I ALWAYS TELL DRUMMERS THAT
He’s simply incredible
Steve Smith rips pretty dam hard with these guys too and Marvin Smith and Omar hakim and of course vinnie and gadd there was a lot of amazing performances here
Dennis was absolutely amazing on this song. I love it!
Counting the band back in after his solo like a boss!!!! (~8:25)
Very buddy of him
Always blows me away.
Great Master Dennis Chambers, playing Sister Sadie and memorable version of Dancing men
Incredible !!!!! simple like that
for me , the best
This is incredible, so glad I seen this!!
love it! Dennis is my hero!
I've been watching this for 30 years ..yeah this is pretty awesome
Big respect for Mr. Chambers for doing this and for being in Parliament Funkadelic!!!
The fun begins @ 7:00... simply amazing!!
the best performance this night
So effortless
He said it all with that first whip-note to the snare, 0:32. The rest is history.
4:55 Dennis you broke the stereo 😂
I can't hear the difference.
Glad it's not just me who noticed that. I thought it was my ears. Lol
Amo esse vídeo
Não canso de assistir
🔥🔥🔥❤️
Cornelius!!! Yeeesssss...Nice surprise to see the legend..Well it looks like him😅Dennis on fire as always, that snare is big😍
He's playing like a chef cooking some sick 🥵 notes man is on 🔥
The triple kick at 7:34 is the tightest and most well fitted triple kick ive ever heard in my life. Its artistic perfection.
Sister Sadie! love this tune!
MR DC IS IMORTAL IN MY LIFE...THIS MAN IS AN INSPIRATION !
what a moment in history!
5:45 amazing note in the right place, and amazing impro
Dennis Chambers!!!!
He's an absolute wizard.
el mas grande de la historia para mi, insuperable Dennis
One of the best performances of "Dancing Men" I've ever heard. Possibly better than the version on Burning For Buddy, Vol 1.
No weakness 👐🏾
Dennis was unreal
Dennis had a chip on his shoulder on this one ! SHEESH💪🏾💪🏾‼️🤦🏾♂️
Some of the drummers today use singles and there combinations over the set and cymbals. Buddy had rudiment chops. He could play the snare only and create many combinations of rolls, paradiddles and so on. He also used one Tom on top and his floor toms. His stick crossing was wonderful and his speed was incredible. Not too many players today could use only limited amount of drums and play intricately. The person who said we have a new king is somewhat uneducated. Maybe he should get a list of the 26 rudiments and realize drumming is more than singles. Buddy could handle very difficult arrangements with a tremendous capacity of memorization. By the way, Steve Gadd loves rudiments also. There is no one person who is the best. Each player brings a different set of concepts to the gig. Remember, this is a dedication to Buddy not Dennis. Peace
When it comes to pure speed, no one can touch Chambers.
Dennis is the best.
Love the kid-in-a-candy-store expression at 1:08 :D
the best........
Absolute weapon!!
que serie de Zildjian en el ride usa dennis
What Type Of Ride Cymbal Is Dennis Playing??? Sounds Amazing, To Me....
might be some type of earth ride or organic ride
Earth Ride I think was his set up back then
Earth Ride... I got mine two weeks ago :)
Can anyone tell what that snare and ride is ? Thats fantastic
That's it. Chambers is THE god of drumming.
that´s the 90´s dude...it has to be like that!
Baffling
Plays an ostinato in his left foot and superimposes over it
How do you play 16th note triplets at that tempo?
MAGISTRAL...
7:13 - Evidence that Dennis was playing DOUBLE KICK on a single bass pedal, that hi hat was moving.
Bruh you trippin, you just put your feet in between the hi hat and the slave pedal then stomp them at the same time im not trying belittle dennis's greatness or anything but it ain't nothing special🤷
Wow!!!!!
Is he hitting the eighth notes in the kick all the way to 3:30? I love him but that choice sounds busy to my ear.
Bass player is amazing
When he was lightning & majesty incarnate...
Only thing about this performance I'm not digging is the high pitched ping of that ride cymbal Dennis is using. OTOH, this was pretty indicative of the drum sounds being used back then.
Most of us would hate cymbals like nowadays, me included.
Yeah...he really loved that Earth Ride. My friend had one.....it was basically a slab of bronze...lol
I actually like that cymbal. Sure it's not practical for all genres but I like how it sounds in this
A lot of people wouldn't use the earth ride in this setting but its historical. you have to just appreciate it being an innovative sound back then, It was really popular back then. Id use it today depending on the setting. I love it. You have to just have a wide appreciation for historical cymbal sounds to appreciate it and its beauty. So Much amazing stick definition
@@kurtjohnson1042One of his idols was Billy Cobham, and he happened to use one as well.
Happy birthday Dennis Chambers
Dennis is just toying with the Band LOL
Check out Buddy from The Hague. Wow!!!!!
And What Type Of Hihats Is He Playing???
Wow. This event should’ve been devoted to Dennis
Yeah Dennis is the man !!!😅
if Dennis writes poetry half as good he plays drums, I wanna be his editor
SUPER BUENO.
Can someone tell me what the songs are?
LOVE LOVE LOVE Dennis!!! He and Vinnie steal show!!
All great but Chambers was off the charts
It´s a drum show. How many people do you think actually enjoys listening to regular jazz tunes? Like 5 people..
Wtf are you talking about? Jazz is still a heavily listened to genre
thats a china boy 14 inch. its hard to find to buy. the sound is really nice.
Nice groove!
that's just phrasing stuff. It's not about playing on, ahead or behind the beat in a time feel manner...
Epic
🐐
Chambers is a FKN beast, excuse my language!
I need that ride cymbal.
I play strictly paiste but gotta admit that Z is a monster.
See when I was coming up Zildjian was and still makes a great cymbal, but we were taught to check out other cymbals. Paiste, Sabian & Meinl have some really good sounding cymbals. Just have to keep a open mind. I've got a bunch cymbals from each company that sound awesome.
This must be a Earth Ride... Play the same
@@jensschultz9725 I believe that what it is or either the ping ride
what is his china????
Shane Embury(Napalm Death bassist)on saxophone!!! haha!
When you hear Dennis play he is just in a much higher level than Peart - not even close
❤
Were's Dennis?

best drummer in the world and in human history
Nice white horn section , cheers buddy
THE BUS TAPES
Great drummer. But something about the way Buddy drove a big band that was otherworldly.
True
The monster is still a monster.
5:38 oh damn I m fucking lost
Dennis would always end with two or three hits lol
I'm a big fan of Dennis, but on that first tune he was not exactly feathering all quarters...more like stomping them. But it works, just like anything else Dennis does 🙂
featuring sideshow bob on tenor sax
No existe hasta este dia 6/11/2023 un baterista del NIVEL de DENNIS CHAMBERS.
Fin de la cita.
What china was that?!?!?! I want it!
7:06 sounds like Caravan intro (Whiplash)
I got goosepimples. Chambers is god
Brilliant drummer. Little behind the beat, but excellent posture! Get out in front of that beat man and drive that train.
lol not really
...lol...
🌸🌱🙄💛
Se sale el tío Denis.
No sé cómo no le salen agujeros a los platos jajajaj
Helvetti mitä ajoa
I now have a phone with decent speakers and understand what everyone is saying about the kick in the first one. Wtf Dennis lol
