The amount of freedom and creativity you can do with it like what this video shows is simply beautiful, that it's like your experiencing your wii u for the first time aaall over again (mainly because of the vWii, as a mario kart wii enjoyer) I wish nintendo wouldn't kill wii u that fast because ngl but i've actually enjoyed the gamepad and their mediocre releases such as mario party 10 lmao (i was 10 years old that's why)

I bought a semi new wiiu (pure luck) in my country when i knew the $ of expansion pack. I'm so happy with my purchase, playing Mario 64 in my language and simpson hit and run or skies of arcadia. Really awesome console.
There's an Ocarina of Time port called "Ship of Harkinian" that's worth installing too. Upscaled graphics, free range camera control and tons of other quality of life improvements!

Ideas? Load all your favorite games in there. Fill 2tbhdd of wiiu and injections, and another 2tb of emulated wii and gc games, then fill your (hopefully 128gb card with some more retro games, lot of psx, n64, and older roms. You can also try some nice injections tweaking the controlers, or just play so many games handheld on the gamepad. So many possibilities tbh. Did you install haxchi /cold boot haxchi or you went with the more recent tiramisu or even beta aroma? And whats your storage setup like?

doesnt matter cuz it can do everything a wii can do but also plays wii u games. all the emulation mods for wii are automatically supported in the virtual wii on the wii u
Blu-ray could work if someone wished to port WiiMC to the WiiU side and access more power to decode at least 720p. Of course it’s not as simple as moving the app but it’s possible since even external Blu-ray Drives do work as well.

You see, uLoader is the app that allows a compatible external DVD or Blu-ray Drive to run burned Wii games but it’s not compatible with GameCube and there’s no future plans to include that nor port to the WiiU. My WiiU vWii is soft modded and uLoader doesn’t work. There’s no reason since Nintendont is there. I still have my Wii and it’s kinda cool to show off playing burned Wii games using an external Blu-ray drive.
Here's a thought.... if you have a backpack and you have a portable solar powered battery with AC plug in technically you could carry the console in the backpack, cut breathing holes into it and plug it into the solar pack. Portable wii u. I know I seen something similar to this

when the Wii U came out i thought it was just a Wii.... i didnt know it was a whole new game system.... so i never wanted to get it... but now with all this emulation stuff and after modding my "new" 3ds XL... i now wanna mod other systems in order to install and play games on them.... i use my PC for most of the Emulation stuff now and it works the best because i got a good PC but its nice having these older consoles not only to play the actual games on the systems but also as collections too i have now been looking around for a Wii U that is in decent shape and not crazy expensive at the same time though im in no rush because my PC can play just about anything i want... having the motion controls though that the Wii and Wii U have are unbeatable though and some games you simply need the motion controls in order to play or at least have the fun they were mean to have while playing

More than just vWii utilization, it can be overclocked to run Not64 [Wii 64 but faster and less accurate] Allowing us to experience N64 games that cannot be Injected [Mainly ROMhacks] due to incompatibility issues.
I had a wii before and now have a wii U Most of the games looks much better on wiiu The Wiiu actually upscale(more like stretch) these games to 1080p if you choose that on the settings, however some games will not look good because they were not made with the hd resolution in mind
It's a little sharper than using Component cables or Wii2HDMI on a native wii. I heard that setting the wii u to 480p will make it look the best for gc/wii games since 720p or 1080p upscales the image which gives it a fillered look. If your just using the gamepad it looks great as it's a native 480p screen.

In my use case using wifi on both my pc and wii u can be mixed. The wii u is set to 854 x 480 at 30hz, while the pc uses sunshine in a performance preset as I use a amd gpu or a igpu laptop. It's recommended to use Ethernet for both, but I can't use it so I'm stuck with wifi.

Both are great consoles and it's hard to choose one over the other. The switch has more new games and can play on the go, the con is it's expensive. WiiU can play more retro games such as Wii Gamecube, and it's cheap, no need to spend money on online play. the gamepad maybe a little big for kids. if you like new games choose switch, like retro games - WiiU
With WiiU do emulation with PlayStation gun games work with the WiiMotes or is that only on the vWii side? I seen videos of hacked OG Wii’s playing arcade gun games in retoarch and PlayStation emulation. Was wondering if you can do it on a WiiU.
Also, I was trying to play the Wii Version of Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing on Wii U as a VC Inject, but unfortunately, I couldn't even control the game with my gamepad no matter how hard I tried. I did check the compatibility list.

You would actually only need a 32gb card but a big external hard drive ir usb drive. You can't really dump games on an sd catd becayse that's where tiramisu (the hack) will be installes
aw man I hope you can grab another one at some point. I'm so glad I picked up one when I did, I still go to it even though I have a switch, it just has so much more potential than people think. It's probably a good time to try and grab one with them shutting down the store this year. Of course that won't affect you with CFW but I mean when they shut the stores the prices will start to rise
I think people were confused and thought it was just an update to the Wii instead of a new console because of the name. It didn't help that a lot of reviews weren't positive about the system. Also, games were very slow to release in the first year.

Did you install the virtual consoles for NES , super NES on the Wii menu or the Wii U menu? On my Wii U the only one that ran good was the Game cube. The others made the Wii U freeze up
Dvd function would be useful in say a bedroom without a tv I guess, but everything else is amazing! I love my wii u. I cant easily set things up on my modded one like I can with my wii, but Im still trying to learn. My modded wii is set up beautifully but Id like to get the Wii U to the same point for the gamepad and upscaled graphics and of course the wii u games.
For people who aren't aware you don't have to play Virtual Console games with the dark filter and 4:3 format bars some of the injector programs have settings to force it into full-screen and remove bars. N64 inject allows used to build the injects with full screen.
Thank you so much for actually going over what homebrew apps can be used for emulation and VC injection. Most places I've looked are too piss scared of Nintendo's tyrannical dictatorship to even bring up that Wii U CAN be used to emulate, outside of Retroarch.
I'm glad people are enjoying setups like this but a good android tablet feels like the ultimate right now minus wii u itself (for now) you get so many options.
There is a software on pc named UWUVCAIO Its Used To Convert Wii And GameCube ISOs And And Games For Other Consoles Into Virtual Console Title that work on the Wii U You Can Add A Patch From The Software To Allow Gamepad Controls But The Games That Only Can Be played With Wii Remote And Nunchuck only doesn’t Work With The Patch Like The Super Mario Galaxy Series And The Legend Of Zelda Skyward Sword And Wii Sports.

I set 720p 30fps with wifi (pc is wired to the network), If Wii u and pc are wired to the network, I can set to 720p 60fps

bought a modded wii u with a 500gb hdd pre loaded for $150. think i did a great buy i never own a wii u since i skipped that generation. not to sure what to expect but i mainly got it to play wii games lmao
I want to either mod a Wii U or a Switch for my little brother, well also for myself tbh 😁. He is just starting to get into video games, we play lots of smash bros and mario kart on my PC, but I want to get him something that he can have for himself. I can't decide which one it should be.

Both are great consoles and it's hard to choose one over the other. The switch has more new games and can play on the go, the con is it's expensive. WiiU can play more retro games such as Wii Gamecube, and it's cheap, no need to spend money on online play. the gamepad maybe a little big for kids. if you like new games choose switch, like retro games - WiiU

If your trying to get started on this what size SD card would you need and is an External hard drive necessary if you have the SD card? If anyone has suggest brands that I can look up and sizes it would be much appreciated.
due to the size of WII U games, the gigs will add up fast, I would go no less than 256gb card. That is what I'm buying for my hacked N3DS XL.
You would actually only need a 32gb card but a big external hard drive ir usb drive. You can't really dump games on an sd catd becayse that's where tiramisu (the hack) will be installes

aw man I hope you can grab another one at some point. I'm so glad I picked up one when I did, I still go to it even though I have a switch, it just has so much more potential than people think. It's probably a good time to try and grab one with them shutting down the store this year. Of course that won't affect you with CFW but I mean when they shut the stores the prices will start to rise

I think people were confused and thought it was just an update to the Wii instead of a new console because of the name. It didn't help that a lot of reviews weren't positive about the system. Also, games were very slow to release in the first year.
Just got a locked one unlocked looking to add every wii game and every wii u game and my pc has all the old emulators so prolly wont add any of those cant wait to be playing my old games again XD so happy XD

Did you install the virtual consoles for NES , super NES on the Wii menu or the Wii U menu?
On my Wii U the only one that ran good was the Game cube. The others made the Wii U freeze up
Can you do DVD playback in Wii u hooking up the console to a computer instead? I don't have a portable DVD reader.
Dvd function would be useful in say a bedroom without a tv I guess, but everything else is amazing! I love my wii u. I cant easily set things up on my modded one like I can with my wii, but Im still trying to learn. My modded wii is set up beautifully but Id like to get the Wii U to the same point for the gamepad and upscaled graphics and of course the wii u games.

For people who aren't aware you don't have to play Virtual Console games with the dark filter and 4:3 format bars some of the injector programs have settings to force it into full-screen and remove bars. N64 inject allows used to build the injects with full screen.
Virtual Console games already display in fullscreen. That is the original presentation.
Thank you so much for actually going over what homebrew apps can be used for emulation and VC injection. Most places I've looked are too piss scared of Nintendo's tyrannical dictatorship to even bring up that Wii U CAN be used to emulate, outside of Retroarch.
I'm glad people are enjoying setups like this but a good android tablet feels like the ultimate right now minus wii u itself (for now) you get so many options.
Wii U’s are probably cheap af too at this time. Honestly it would be worth getting one to mod the hell out of it.

What version of Geforce experience did you use ? for me moonlight is laggy and crash all the time
Mine is 3.23.0.74, 720p 30fps in wifi (pc is wired to the network), If Wii u and pc are wired to the network, then 720p 60fps is also very smooth
