  • Landscape photography for me is a wonderful and exhilarating adventure, it takes us to the most beautiful locations with the potential to create beautiful landscape photography imagery entwined with the enjoyment of getting to your chosen landscape photography location, the anticipation of the landscape photography composition you have envisaged through researching your subject and location is the very thing that gets my creative juices flowing, It's this process I've been in love with for many years.
So in this video I'm researching the area as it's my first visit and looking forward to finding compositions that may work in optimum conditions later in the year probably in Autumn.
I don't usually do hiking and photography together therefore my portfolio as very little imagery of this genre but looking to change that over the next few years by travelling and hiking to new places which I'm very much looking forward to. Hope you enjoy the film as much as I have in making it. Please leave your comments below, I very much look forward to reading them and replying to every single one. Best wishes Stuart

The composition and light on the second image are wonderful. Holme Fell is now on my places to visit list, thank you.

Wonderful video, and images. Image 3 then 1, then 2 and lastly number 4. only reason being the light that was falling on the scenes. But really being picky, all were really beautiful. I sometimes will just sit and drink a coffee and eat a biscuit, and just immerse myself in the scene.

Scottland? The last 2 photo were beautiful. Great light. Definitively will be better in the spring & fall seasons. Your going to be hiking more, your gonna mess up them sneakers. Probably better off with hiking shoes. D850? Happy shooting & I'll try & catch a couple more of your vids at some point.

Loved the third picture Stuart! How do you find all these lovely places? Sometimes, I think, you need to take time out to clear your head. Keep going! Really like your vids. 👍😀

Hi Julie thank you 🙏, sometimes when you go to beautiful places it’s difficult finding compositions as your mind can just be overwhelmed with beauty it sees as you are just trying to find a small section of the scene to make it meaningful and you have an emotional connection to photograph it.
I use google earth to find places to visit mostly. Have a great week Julie. Stuart

Lovely film, and great photos Stuart. Get that footwear sorted though...snow and trainers are not a good combination!!! Is it easy to find your way around Holme Fell? I would like to go one day, but not if I could get lost!

I hear you when you talked about the "brick wall". I found that the COVID restrictions, etc. really began to weigh heavily on me, and by the second year, even my motivation to get out and do some nature photography slowly faded away. I've gone out a couple times recently but it's hard to "see" new compositions. However, I found your recent B&W video quite inspiring and in this video it's good to hear I'm not the only person who hits that "brick wall". Over the winter, I acquired on eBay an old 45 year-old film camera, a Canon EF from the 70's. I plan to load up a roll of film and use it to break through the brick wall this week.

All the compositions were fantastic, I would be chuffed if they were my photos.
Also I am really enjoying your vids, nicely shot and calming too. Keep it up.
Just back from Northumberland and Isle of Skye, my main problem was that I start to panic abit while setting up the shot and then rush it. I need to take my time in future.
