YES!! WHAT AN ADVENTURE!
Thank You!
Such an incredible accomplishment. So proud of you. ♥️
Thank you Babe!
Wow what an amazing trip with dad.. all the best from INDIA
Thank you! I hope all is well in India.
@@AlexanderAyling everything at risk in INDIA..
But we are safe now in Kerala.. lets pray for our Health.. Have a Safe journey bro
Pretty cool spending time with your Dad :)
It was nice but something bad happens in episode 2. Stay tuned!
West Texas and yes I want to go and do it bro 😎👍👌🏼
Awesome!! I hope to make it out to Hill Country for a motorcycle road trip one day! Hope you're well
Yes anytime I did 4000 miles on my motorcycle last year went on a loop to 11 states awesome experience and ready for the next one bro 😎👌🏼
Loved seeing your Dad riding with you. I did the Telluride to Moab SJ Hut ride last summer at age 70. Quite a challenging but rewarding experience!
Get it Don!!! Love that you pushed yourself and made it happen! Have you seen Episode 2?? Things get real!
@@AlexanderAyling Just watched Episode 2. Sorry that your Dad had to cut the ride short. I agree that the ride into Gateway was spectacular! Can't wait to see the last two days of the ride. The only concession to my age was to arrange a ride from Gateway to the Colorado/Utah boundary. I was cautioned about the difficulty of the ride up the pass. I'm sure you'll comment on it in Episode 3. BTW, all the other riders with me were on full-suspension bikes. I rode my Why Cycles Supple Seven hardtail with 26.5 x 3" tires. Very stable!
Alex. Thanks for setting the example of finding adventure in any circumstances.
Thank you!!!
I still believe this series is you best work yet.
Thank you! I want to get another adventure like this in the books!
Fabulous. Can't wait for other episodes. 🚴♂️🏴

AlexTheVagabond can’t wait!! Episode 1 is ridiculous!! The scenery, like you said, almost looks European, like the Swiss Alps! I never realised USA was this beautiful!!
Those cabins were stocked for the next apocalypse - and the stir fry you threw together looked hearty!!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You the man Alejandro! What an epic adventure.
Gracias Robbie! Appreciate the support bud. Hope all is well :)
Love the edit of beauty you captured; reminded me of your/Marco's California vids 3 years ago but those Colorado mountain views and geology do add a touch of breathlessness. Thank you Alex!

Awesome trip man and video editing is on point i went this exact route in 06 and just booked it for end of june this years with some buddies. So excited
Thanks Robert! Hope you watch the full series of videos. Such a fun trip right?
When you talk about the expansive and immersive view waking up parts of your mind that have been dormant from the lockdowns (about 9-10 minutes in), that resonates with me in a big way. Gotta get out of the city. Great video.
Totally agree Stevie! Hope you and the family are well. Have you been up to Mt. Laguna, near Julian? Great camping up there in the Cuyamacas and it feels very alpine. Great spot for a quick camping trip :)
Loved it! I just had knee surgery and this inspired me to make a mountain bike trip my recovery goal.
Oh my God!! stunning views.it's awesome doing this journey with your father. Hugs from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Thank you Veronica!! Stay tuned for episode 2, the unexpected happens 🤯
Amazing! 🤩

Thank you!! I love Melbourne area. I could easily live out on the Mornington Peninsula. So pretty! Hope you watched episode 2!
Love the video..did this ride 5 years ago with friends. Look forward to your next video
Amazing!! It’s such a great trip! Hope you watched episode 2! Series finale drops this weekend.
@@AlexanderAyling Look forward to episode 3. Last year I watched all you and your brother's videos on the Basque Country before exploring there and hiking the northern Camino route. When you are ready to do another video in Santa Fe (like maybe mountain biking), let me know.
Hey Alex! This looked like a great trip and I am looking forward to this video! Stay safe!
Thank you Francois! Where are you tuning in from?? Things GET REAL in episode 2!
@@AlexanderAyling No problem! London, UK! Awesome can't wait for episode 2 then!
Omgoodness, love your Dad's accent! Your parent's must be amazing people. Could I do the trail with a dirt motor bike?
You could definitely ride a motorcycle out there but you can't stay in the huts if you're using a motor vehicle.
@@AlexanderAyling bummer, I don't think I could make it up the hills with a bike. Thank you
Watching from my couch in New Zealand, Colorado is stunning, almost as good as home 😊 Can't wait to start travelling again! Thank you for the inspiration.
Looking forward to changing scenery to NZ for a few years :)

For sure looking forward to it! Been watching your guys’ journeys since the very beginning!
Wow awesome and beautiful nature! And really cool you can experience this with your dad too! Would be interresting how he compare this adventure and the one from the early 2000s.
Looking forward to the next episodes of this series! Stay healthy 🌞👍
Birgit B. Thank you Birgit!!! Stay tuned for Episode 2 because something crazy happens!
This was pretty good Alex thank you from Arizona
Cheers Michael!
Awesome landscape, views, and experience. Good motivation to move up North, i’m looking forward to the next!
Thank you Chrisitan. I'm stoked you enjoyed! Where are you planning on moving?
AlexTheVagabond Anywhere there are mountains within a 2 hour radius lol. FL isn’t the most exciting landscape, so vids like this make me consider making the plunge to go to CO, NY, or CA 🏔
Greetings from Mexico City! Great new video as always!!
Muchas gracias Mauricio! Hope all is well in DF
It must feel great to get back out there. Looking forward to the next instalment already!
Thank you Alana! It was a really challenging yet satisfying adventure! Working on the second and third installments now and it only gets better. Stay tuned ✌🏼

AlexTheVagabond hey brother I’ve just started following your channel a few weeks ago. Awesome stuff! Running in from Dallas

Great video, saludos desde mexico.
Muchas gracias Charly!!! Más viene aún!
Hey Alex! This trip is on my bucket list as well! I’m searching and watching all the videos I can. Love yours man!
I’m 61 (how old is your dad?🤪 did he do ok?) I’m hoping I’ll be able to get this trip done sooner than later. I have 2 sons, 37 & 34 and another young man 35 that all want to do this this T to M hut to hut. I looking forward to the rest of your trip!
We are all from OKC.

Dude, this is such an awesome series man! Thank you so much for sharing it with us. This is quickly becoming a bucket list trip for me! Really excited for the next episodes. Now does anyone have a quality mountain bike for sale at a decent price?! 😁
Thank you Jordan! I’m stoked you’re digging the video. Working on the rest of the series now :)
Awesome video - never come across your channel before today, but have subbed and looking forward to more! I plan to feature a long ride across the Cairngorm national park in Scotland in a future video on my channel - this is definitely the high bar for adventure riding videos! TEC
Thank you!!! Welcome to my channel. I would LOVE to ride across Scotland. I’ve done a fair bit of tromping around up there and can’t get enough of those Highland vistas. Happy riding!
Don’t like that kind of videos. I just LOVE IT ! Amazing shots, very professional as usual Alex ! At the end of that trip, would be willing to share the map showing the camps, distance and altitude please ? Congrats to your father ! Julien
- Montreal - Canada
Hey Julien!! Merci beacoup! For more info on the route and huts visit www.sanjuanhuts.com
Also be sure to watch episode 2!!
Sure! Episode 2 already watched my friend! Can’t wait for ep 3! Thx for sharing Map infos! Take care
Looks awesome! I love your adventures, so much so that my hubby and I did Ireland with all your tips on vaga brothers. We recently started riding in March but more so road biking and very light trails on hybrid bikes. The most we’ve done is 26 miles so far on mostly flat ground. What do you recommend we do to prepare for this type of mountain biking obstacle? We don’t have mountain bikes, so looking at buying some this fall.
Awww this makes me so happy to hear Aridai. Should I make a beginners guide to cycling video?
AlexTheVagabond absolutely!
Hey Alex, amazing video! You've inspired me to look into it, as I do some recreational mtb in souther California. How did you do the logistics for it (bikes, can one rent a bike from the starting point, your vehicle, etc.)? Are there any other such hut trips you've done or know of? Amazing stuff, love your channel.
patzienta hey there!! Glad to hear I’m helping inspire adventures! I’ll do a video at the end where I explain my bike, gear and how to book the huts, car logistics etc. stay tuned :)
What a great adventure. Can you talk about your gear? Im curious if your load could of been lighter. Thanks for sharing this.
Hey Marisol! I'm actually going to make a video breaking down the gear I took for the trip. In Pre-Covid times you didn't need to bring your own sleeping bag so that made the load a bit heavier but still so fun!
@@AlexanderAyling I am doing this ride August 30th and I would love to hear what worked and what didn't with regards to your gear as well! So far this is an awesome series! Good job!
At the end of day two. What ingredients did you use. It looked delicious. Amazing video as always.
I made a stir fry with sweet potato and onion, canned chicken and peppers, watercress and bamboo in coconut milk :)
Awesome video, where can I find the “I never want to leave this place” song. Also how awesome to got to spend it with your dad
Thanks Matthew. I'm sorry but I don't know the song name off the top of my head. It's from AudioNetwork
Alex, you deserve more video views and likes! Very professionally done. How much to rent such huts?
Thank you Dmitry! Feel free to share my videos and help me out. Also if you enjoy the videos please consider donating an “Applause”👏🏼
Cheers!
Thank you! You should sell that's videos to netflix :)
Hahah thanks Andy!! Probably have a better chance with Amazon Prime ;)
Great video! I’m taking the trip in a couple of months. What is your whit base layer for riding?
They are sun UV protection sleeves. Such a great investment for the ride
Ah so great! I’ve been thinking about getting into bike packing and this hut to hut trip looks like a good induction. Did you pack out any food with you, or did you just use what was in the hut? Can you share a bit about how to book the huts? Is it super competitive to get bookings?
Hey Philippa! Head over to their website which I’ve linked in the video description.
Hey Alex.. have you ever been to Munnar, Kerala
Would love to do something similar...
But no Idea if there is such thing in Germany.
I guarantee there is a hut system in Bavaria. Also Germany is great for bike touring on back roads. Get out there! Black Forest??
Get started with something like the Rheinsteig, along the River Lahn or maybe Pilgerpath.
How did you get your bikes and gear there?
We drove out from California to Telluride then hired a shuttle driver to drive our car to Moab. :)
Did you see anyone on the trail? Seems like you had it all to yourself!
Hey Michael! We saw some people camping out there but it was pretty solitary to be honest. Very welcomed change of pace. Hope all is well. Where you tuning in from?
@@AlexanderAyling Riding out the pandemic in Baltimore County! Close to the PA line, but not too far from the city that I can't get some crab cakes when I have an urge. The city definitely has issues, but the places I frequent don't feel unsafe at all to me.
Telluride and that part of Colorado has been on my bucket list for awhile. My work situation is going to be a lot more flexible later this year, so hopefully I can swing by for a week or two.
Thanks for sharing your experiences!
Alex, have this trip planned for Mid Sept. So stoked. I have questions for you. Any way to connect? I am in SoCal.
We are departing on Sep 17.
@@stevenpeyton7476 Our group is out on the 16th for the Durango to Moab. You doing the same route the next day departure?
Alex, I have a question, this place where u ate and rest, it belongs to the park? How do u pay for it and where this food comes from? It's very interesting and the infrastructure is just mindblowing
Check out their website sanjuanhuts.com for more information on the hut system. :)
@@AlexanderAyling ,Wow,just checked their website, just amazing infrastructure! Very nice really
Hi I’d like to know if these little huts are for free or you paid to someone before you got there?
P.S I think it’s my favorite video of yours
Hey there! These are private huts which you can reserve online with them. I’ve linked their website in the video description. Stay tuned for episode 2 This weekend!
Great video !! Inane footage and content, keep it up !! Just subbed and liked!! I upload crazy GoPro edits on my channel if you want to check it out!!
