  • How far can we push ourselves before we reach the breaking point? The San Juan Hut System connects Telluride Colorado to Moab Utah over 215 miles of backcountry trails and dirt roads to form one of the world's best mountain bike trips.
    In Episode 2, Alex's father has to come to terms with the reality of the trip, that long days of cycling at over 10,000ft in the intense sun can present serious obstacles and can push us to physical limit and our own breaking point. What happens next?
    Thank you to the San Juan Huts for helping make this trip happen. For more information check them out here : www.sanjuanhut...

    It might sound ridiculous, but it's an example of Covid Kindness, so here goes.. I was out one day to go grocery shopping during the thick of early april confinement. I was getting the blues, and thought I'd go for a little drive around the surrounding countryside before I went grocery shopping, and got stuck out having to pee pretty badly, and I stopped at 7 different places, none of them let me use their bathroom (I live on a 3rd floor walkup, so going back home sounded just as bad atp). I decided to just make the smallest grocery shop stop, I asked them out of desperation, and they too had no available public bathroom. I was halfway down the first aisle, fully resigned, and a young lady popped behind me and said "Come with me, I'll let you use the one out back.". I was SO thankful to her... I didn't think to ask her name, but the next week, I went back to that small grocery store and gifted the whole staff one of those Tim Hortons coffee self-service boxes for 12 coffees, with all the creams and milks and sugar on the side. They didn't have to help me, it was my own stupid fault for drinking coffee on my pleasure ride... but one of them did. And I had to do something to thank them, however small!
    In two days I'm leaving for a trip for a family affair (funeral), and it's at least a 11h drive from where I live... and I'm really scared there won't be any bathrooms on the way. I sincerely hope there will be good samaritains on my path too...!

    • @AlexanderAyling
      @AlexanderAyling  4 роки тому +1

      Glad they found it in their hearts to help you out! Nothing worse than that frantic feeling. Whenever I road trip I bring my backpacking trowel and a roll of TP just in case nature calls at an inopportune moment in the middle of nowhere

    • @katymaloney
      @katymaloney 4 роки тому

      @@AlexanderAyling I certainly had a thought for people who work on the road... hope they too don't have to resort to the trowel situation... which let's face it, in nature, that works, but on the side of a national road... not the most elegant move. :P

      Don’t mind my bland one-word comments. Just something I throw in there to help out your channel!

    Really nice and quality contents, you have really come out as a genuine down to earth person. I had a very different impression of you from the travel channel. I lost my dad when he was 67 three years ago so take my word you’re a one lucky person to have your buddy still around and kicking. Hope he gets well soon ... best wishes! 😁

      Thank you!! Glad you’re enjoying the videos on this channel. I appreciate each moment I get to spend with him, I’m sorry about losing your pops. 🙏🏼
