By that performance, any one of those are going to get the job done. Thanks for sharing your results, always informative and entertaining. Be well guys, and God bless.
One thing I learned from Ron Spomer and BackfireTV - shooting copper bullets out of a barrel that has not been cleaned after shooting copper jacketed bullets (like eldx) causes acccuracy issues. I experienced this myself out of a few rifles - Bergara Squared Crest, Christensen Mesa and Ridgeline. If I clean the barrel and only shoot Barnes bullets, I got significantly better groups as opposed to shooting eldx and then Barnes without cleaning. Check out their videos for better and more accurate info than I can provide. Thanks for the video!
I've tried both the hornady precision hunter and the Barns LR in my 6.5 prc. Hornady I got 5 stuck cartridges and horrible groups 1.5 to 2 moa at 100 yards with 120 rounds. Barns LR 0.5" at 100 yards and 1" groups at 200 yards. No stuck casings or other issues. Excellent cold bore shots as well. I would recommend the Barns 127 ga. over the hornady.
I've had really good luck so far with the eldx hornady load. I think it had to do with the stability factor of the bullet, but my groups at 450yds were tighter than expected. Shot right about .5-1.2 MOA at 100yds, but about 4" groups at 450yds. The 4DOF app has worked well also
Thanks for putting this test together-nice work. My favorite factory 6.5 PRC load has been the Hornady Precision Hunter 143 gr ELD-X. These loads are shooting 5/8” groups at 100 yards and 3/4” groups at 300 yards. 3/4” group at 300 yards is pretty impressive for factory loads. My rifle is the SAKO S20 Hunter with 1 in 8 twist and I dearly love this rifle. I am an avid reloader and I can beat the factory Hornady Precision Hunter loads in accuracy but not by much as these rounds are impressive in my gun. On the Hornady Precision Hunter 143 gr ELD-X the box gives a velocity of 2,960 fps; however, I could only get 2,725 fps on my chronograph. Aside from the lower than advertised velocity, these factory loads are great.
I used the 143 Gr ELDX in my 6.5 PRC last year on a deer hunt. My shot was relatively close at 90 yards. I was really afraid it would come apart and make a mess but it stayed together and passed right through. I was pleased with my only experience with it.
Good summary, they actually all look pretty tight! That gun has a 1:8 twist, so try the heavier Berger 156 grain. Through my Tikka T3x Lite they are surprisingly stable and very true fliers within practical hunting distances. Thanks for the vid!
Hey guys, my 6.5 PRC is a Ruger Hawkeye LRT and it shoots the Barnes LRXs very well. I have liked all of the TTSXs that I've shot also. They all have very good penetration being a monolithic. That also gives you greater latitude as to where you can go hunt with it. Not all states/areas allow lead bullets.
I have the ruger American 6.5prc. It didn’t like the hornady ammo but grouped well with the Norma ammo. This year my cousin used the eldx on a doe at 100yds and bullet didn’t expand. No blood for about 80yds and autopsy showed just a pin hole thru the lungs and both entry and exit
I have heard things like that about the Precision Hunters. Some say they are meant for 300+ yards. We just used them in 7 PRC, though and had plenty of blood out of one at about 40-50 yards. 🤷🏼♀️
The Barnes solid copper is my choice, they'll penetrate through muscle and bone and still retain its weight and not shatter into pieces like lead core bullets.
Eld-x gets a bad rap but we just used it in Africa with very good results. From springbok to Kudu, to Roan. Recovered bullets did show some separation, but the shock and tissue damage that bullet causes is unreal.
My 2 fav deer & antelope rifle is a Christensen Ti 6.5PRC and a Wby .257 Mag. I have shot many and different shells through both firearms. My Christensen liked the Barnes LRX 127gr & the 143gr ELD-X the best as well.
The accubond is my choice of bullet but im a handloader. You may find the eldx will have jacket core seperation at tge higher velicities of the prc compared to the creedmoor. May be worth trying the hornady cx 130 grain loads to see if youre rifle likes it. Out to 400 yoi have more than enough velocity if you wanted to shoot solid copper like the cx or ttsx.
So far in my Bergera Crest the Berger 140gr elite hunters have shot the best. The 156gr didn’t do as good. Mine wasn’t to fond of the Precision Hunters.
I bought the Barnes 127gr to try in my Cascade XT. They were a little all over the place at first but shots 9-11 measured .384". Have not tried them on game yet but I went back and bought the whole case of ammo so it will be my go to for awhile.
I forgot to mention the rifle was brand new so those were my first shots out of it. After shot 11 I packed it up and headed home. I wish ammo was cheaper lol.
Sorry about the profanity in the link I posted. Warning to anyone who watches it you want to turn the sound off if you're watching with children. It gives you a great glimpse at the performance of a 127gr Barnes on a deer at 477 yards.
I realize accuracy is the name of the game, but I noticed in your video you had a labradar in the mix. Would you care to share the velocity? ES? AD? of each load.
So this is from when we first got it. I believe it sped up some as we shot it more. Barnes: avg 2824 Hornady: avg 2745 Norma: avg 2805 Nosler: avg 2749 As I said, I’m pretty sure it sped up a bit. We shot the Hornady later and had an avg of 2782. The Normas averaged 2817 later.
Nice shootin. I think I'm gonna have to get me one of them PRC cartridge chambered rifles of some sort. Just don't know if i want the 6.5PRC, 7mmPRC, or the 300 PRC. Decisions Decisions.
@@rickyflinchum2909 I have the 6.5PRC and 7PRC. If you only want one PRC, go 7PRC for sure. If you are going factory rifle, take your pick but I advise against the Mossberg. If you are going to have one built, make sure your builder has the latest reamer that is slightly larger than SAAMI spec. Make sure the reamer is a 0.535, or 0.5345 and not the SAMMI spec 0.533 body diameter

I shot all but Barnes, all mine out of Christensen Arm FFT 20 inch 5.5 pounds shot 1 inch groups or better. Norma shot 5/8 inch group in mine. Others were in 7/8 to 1 inch range.
@ReviewThisThing The tolerances and design on the cartridge make a huge difference. I have all but many primers for reloading it. I bet it will get 1/2 inch groups and good velocities from 20-inch barrel once reloaded (142-143 at 2875-2950). It is still not bad now at 2830-2850 with my 20-inch barrel. Will be great Mule Deer, Antalope, Sheep, etc. rifle from me out West.
I love 6.5prc
It’s been super fun to shoot?!?
For the price, Norma makes an excellent target and hunting round. And as you can see, it shoots as well as the top shelf ammo.
Definitely!
By that performance, any one of those are going to get the job done. Thanks for sharing your results, always informative and entertaining. Be well guys, and God bless.

The bondstrike is a great all around load because it is accurate and it is BONDED. This makes it a lot tougher for larger game.....like the nosler
Great! Thank you!
My wife’s Browning X-Bolt 6.5 PRC loves the Barnes LRX 127gr. First 3 shot .416” group at 100yds. Her first buck was down fast
Oh wow! That’s awesome! Tell her congratulations.
Hornady Precision Hunter has been great in my Bergara 6.5 PRC

The hornady eldx BC always higher than most other bullets. Shoot good in my 6.5 prc and 30-06

I use the Hornady Precision Hunter in my Browning X-Bolt Stalker LR, 3 shot group at 100 is under 3/4" I love my 6.5PRC for accuracy.
Heck yeah. That sounds awesome!
For elk I would say the Barnes. For whitetail I think any of them will do.

Defiant ddm match. That ammo is amazing, Defiant Munitions

My crest does not like the eldx but will stack the 147 eldm. I don’t like it but I hunt with the eldm. Dropped my white tail where it stood
I’ve met lots of folks that hunt with them! Congratulations!
My best factory group was with Nosler BT 140 grain out of my Browning x-bolt Pro 24 inch barrel. Well under MOA at 100 yards.
Nice!
3 shot groups are not a good representation of the dispersion of the bullets, you need a larger sample size to stay statistically significant.
Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.
Nice vid - got velocities?
Thank you! We were having a little trouble with our radar.
Barnes is what I’d go with. I no longer choose what my rifle shoots bet but what bullet I want as long as accuracy is decent.
That makes good sense.
Greeting Do you happen to know the length of the magazine (action) 6.5prc bergare crest
My sources tell me it’s a short action.

Loads that are accurate in one rifle may not be so in another. You have to find the load that is most accurate in YOUR rifle.
