Trains at Wigan North Western. WCML. 24/11/2023.

An absolutely phenomenal albeit very cold 2 hour stay here at Wigan North Western on the West Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from Avanti West Coast, Northern and Freight from Freightliner, GBRF and Network Rail. Along with all this we received a light running 47830 which was running closely behind the absolutely stunning 46115 'Scot's Guardsman' which an unknown 47 trailing. That wasn't the only the West Coast Rail sent through Wigan today as we also received the beauties that are 57601 and 313 'Scarborough Castle' on the Northern Belle.
As you'll most likely assume from the top paragraph, I had an absolute belter of a stay here at Wigan North Western today. It certainly exceeded my expectations. I wasn't expecting to get a light running 47 running through today, let alone a pair of 57s and a steam engine. I wish I continued filming for an extra 5 minutes as I'd have caught a pair of 68s absolutely belting it through the station however it was freezing and I was hungry and needed some chips. I highly recommend Wigan North Western if you've never been before. If you get peckish and are craving chips, I recommend Wallgate Chippy situated across the road from the station. Their chips are banging.

A great selection of trains you managed to film ... and good weather too, although it was probably cold.
I live near Newcastle, on the ECML so only see LNER, XCountry, Lumo and TransPennine trains .. oh yes, Northern Rail too
