@@matthewmolkentin6230 , actually Peter Green created/fromed the band and got Mick to join him. They wanted to get McVie to leave his band so they called there band Fleetwood Mac thinking it would entice him, but at first he declined and didn’t join the band for a few months. The original name was actually Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac.

Everything that everyone says on here about Stevie Nicks' genius is absolutely right and correct and deservedly so. But as a drummer, I feel the need to point out that Mick Fleetwood delivers what I would consider to be as close to the perfect drum track as possible. Every little beat, fill and cymbal crash fits in the right spot. If I was teaching someone how to play drums, I would show them the basic beats and fills, and then make them listen to and play along with Dreams.

I remember seeing them live circa 95 when they reunited and he got out of his drum rig put on a digital drum machine body suit (hands, feet, knees, head etc were all drum pieces to hit) and played a drum solo with his body. That was amazing!

The reason they sound like you described, Lex, is more than likely due to the turmoil that wracked the band throughout their years together. They were basically passing each other around like an appetizer at a roadside steakhouse and it led to a lot of... what's the word I'm looking for? ...maybe disdain for each other. The reason it was so heartfelt was because a lot of their songs on this album were about the two couples’ tumultuous relationships. Up and down, their passion was represented, like you said. Lex, you always get it - in how I feel are the important ways. Good job, you guys.

LOVE, LOVE Fleetwood Mac! Also Stevie’s solo career! Please react to Stevie’s songs “Has anyone ever written anything for you” and “Beauty and the Beast.” As well as FM “Gold dust woman.” Stevie performing is like watching an Angel on a cloud- So ethereal.. yet she can definitely deliver a stern massage with her eyes and facial expressions- She’s my spirit animal- 🧚‍♀️ ✨✨

You really need to watch a 'live' performance of this. The looks Stevie and Lindsay were giving each other during their performance spoke more than the lyrics of the song.

I agree about how it SOUNDS... it's actually the mid to late 70s, but there's a certain warmth that comes through that you just don't get from today's music. It feels like a warm hug on a rainy day. Fleetwood Mac is one of the greatest bands ever, no cap.

I can really appreciate your channel, especially with your comments of the songs from the 70s. I came of age in the 1970s and most of these songs bring back certain memories and have different meanings for me. It's good to hear your opinions of these songs that I grew up with, and how they are understood to the younger generation. 🙂

I feel like this song is in my DNA. I got the Rumors album for my 12th birthday and listened to it endlessly. Us older folks remember getting a vinyl LP and playing it on the record player for hours in our bedrooms. Some albums came with liner notes and little snippets about the band. Fleetwood Mac is basically the soundtrack of my adolescence.

Stevie said that it only took her about 15 minutes to write the song, she said she wrote the song on Sly Stone's big bed in the center of his recording room at the famous Record Plant recording studio in Sausalito California. Fleetwood Mac was also recording there recording their Rumours album. I think Stevie said that she had went to Sly's room because she was pissed off at Lindsay at the time and wanted to be alone to write. Her and Lindsay were definitely pissed off at each other a lot at that time lol so was Christine and John, Christine said that they didn't even talk at all unless they absolutely had to. I've watched pretty much every documentary there is about Fleetwood Mac, they're such a great band and have such a fascinating story!!

Brad & Lex, you're 4 songs in on a great band! I'd recommend "Silver Spring" from the 1997 concert 'The Dance', "Go Your Own Way" and "You Make Loving Fun". Stevie Nicks on lead vocals, one of only a handful of women in the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame twice.

This album was so huge when it came out in the mid-'70s. It was ubiquitous. Everybody who was "of age" at that time had it. You'd hear it played at every party you went to (with everybody singing along to every word of every song), and several songs from it got airplay on the radio. The album was about breakups; the couples in this band were breaking up and recombining. Lindsey Buckingham & Stevie Nicks had done an album (entitled "Buckingham/Nicks") that had been a little bit successful in an underground sort of way. Fleetwood Mac had already been successful for several years with other people, most notably Bob Welch (their music from his era is among my favorite FM music; "Bare Trees", "Mystery to Me" and "Heroes are Hard to Find" all being excellent albums). But when the two merged, this album was the result. And it was iconic.

Something that separated FM from other groups of that time was they were accomplished musicians, as well as song writers. Mick Fleetwood, Lindsay Buckingham, and Christine McVie were all tremendously talented instrumentalists, and they understood music theory.

This band began in the 60s as more of a blues sound. The lead singer was the great Peter Green. They picked up Lindsey Buckingham and his girlfriend Stevie Nicks in the 70s and released Rumours, one of the greatest albums in history. Every track is a hit. The story behind that album has its own documentary. The other female vocalist, Christine McVeigh, has a wonderful voice as well.

Lex nailed it! She sounds like a little girl and an old woman at the same time. Fleetwood Mac was a unique convergence of very talented and gifted musicians. It’s more than just important to note in this day and age of digital samples and beats predefined in computers that EVERY SINGLE NOTE was the original creation of the artist’s own mind and that all of it was played by hand in the studio and for live performance. As much as anything, that’s what’s missing today. Joe Walsh said it best. 5 producers in 3 cities passed a file back and forth for a week. No one ever saw the others face to face and NO ONE ACTUALLY PLAYED ANY MUSIC. Think about it. It matters.

Another vote for "Silver Springs" from their 1997 Dance concert. I believe it was supposed to appear on "Rumours" in the 1970s and Stevie was hurt when it didn't get on the album. It's a heart wrenching song and the visuals of their performance in 1997 is not to be missed.
