Rich is so wildly inspirational to me. At 31 I've been dreaming of getting into an apprenticeship and tattooing but so worried I'm past the appropriate age for it. Thank you guys for doing this interview!
When I was 16 years old I started hanging out at a tattoo shop and drew flash for them all day long. At 18 I started my apprenticeship. About 6 months into it an unfortunate thing happened and the shop closed down so I had to go out and find a job. I got married, moved to a different state and started a family but still dreamed of tattooing. Fast forward to now, I’m 48 years old and just got done with my apprenticeship in October. It’s crazy how much things have changed. I remember soldering needles on bars and now you just pop a cartridge in lol. I worked 30 years in the hospitality/customer service industry and now I use that in the tattoo industry
This is my story too! I started my apprenticeship at 32. While I have a while to be a good as him, but I just finished my 2nd year and I’m super excited to keep grinding.
Im 37 come march, im trying to get into a shop come by the end of the year, i have had a 6 month apprenticeship in 2016 but lofe got in the way. So in the last 5 months started getting heavy back into it by working on fake skins to get better.

Started tattooing a year ago, I’m 40 in march… Definitely never too late IF you’ve got the drive and determination.
